We can use these as a workaround until Nest gets it’s act together. I bought these to cover the LED lights on my car’s dashcam for a more stealth look. They work well without ruining the aesthetic of your machine/device.
Here you go my guy.

This has been driving me nuts.
I bought a pack of these on Amazon and they have changed my life. There is one that fits perfectly over the button, and it can also be removed and re-stuck repeatedly (if you want to play with your settings).
I don't know if you ever found a solution or workaround, but I was in a similar situation and came across these, which may be the best workaround without having to use software, mess with the hardware, or get an entirely new headset. They're called LightDims, but they're just stickers that block out LED light. I've already bought them and put them on my G733 headphones and you can't even tell that lights are on when they're turned on, so if you don't mind paying a bit these serve as a pretty efficient workaround, you just apply sticker(s) to where the lights are and voilà, no more obnoxious LED. The stickers blend in for the most part as well since they're pitch black, which is also nice.
I ordered stickers! They fit well and look good. Best of all no more power light.

The gross thing is, as far as I can tell, the whole thing is some kind of weird fad. Like, the manufacturers think that consumers view the ultra-bright lights as a mark of quality.
That's probably only true for a small percentage of customers. But they can put in the bright-ass lights for almost the same price as normal ones.
Hell, everything seems to have unnecessarily bright LED lights, these days. I had to replace my damn dishwasher a while back, and the lights on its buttons are so insanely bright that you can't read the text on those very same controls.
I literally had to put tape over them, to cut the brightness down. Later, I noticed that there are actually further consumer products to un-brighten the bright-ass lights: https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK
these work wonderfully and don't leave a weird residue like electrical tape... plus they also come in different colors to match the device as well as a semitransparent version for dimming leds instead of blocking them entirely.

Jeg har lavet en workaround på mine tastaturer med nogle Lightdims, som egentlig er beregnet til at blænde lysdioder ned. De små runde kan lige dække de unødvendig bogstaver.
All these dark comments about Nest/Google are crazy!! I get the frustration of some but too many the subtle change will be meaningless. I for one have made a small $5.00 purchase on Amazon which rectifies this minor issue completely.
LightDims Black Out Edition - Light Blocking LED covers/Light Dimming Sheets for Routers, Electronics and Appliances and more. Blocks 100% of Light, in Retail Packaging. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009WSN8PK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_QAAwDb77KZ6VH
If you want to dim them, you could try these LightDims. But if you want to get rid of it completely I think electrical tape would work fine.
Here is the simple cheap solution to end the triggering led apocalypse
Look around your house for a whole punch and a roll of black electrical tape and use the punch on the tape and place the punched out hole over the LED
Or purchase these: LightDims Black Out Edition - Light Blocking LED covers/Light Dimming Sheets for Routers, Electronics and Appliances and more. Blocks 100% of Light, in Retail Packaging. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009WSN8PK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_k1MvDbJK53WBY
Seconded. OP, I bought these on Amazon (not affiliated) and they work reasonably well. They're a static cling type sticker so minimal or no sticker residue.
Get some of these to cover the LED with. I have all mine covered and it's great. You can still see the light if you look at it, but it wont light up your room anymore.
I find just closing my eyes doesn't always work. Some are so bright they light up the room. To fix that without, let's call it the home made look you have there, check these out. I like the product and use it but I don't have anything to do with it or Amazon, comes in black, silver and white: https://www.amazon.com/LightDims-Black-Out-Electronics-Appliances/dp/B009WSN8PK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1475608235&sr=8-3&keywords=led+covers+stickers
Your build just looks awesome. That is something I truly want to work my way up to someday!
Do you think heat will be a problem if you put a door on that rack?
There are always these blackout stickers, though it looks like some of the stuff on your rack has big LED rings that those stickers wouldn't work for. http://www.amazon.com/LightDims-1002-Black-Out-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK
Here are some of the LED cover stickers they make for reducing the brightness of these lights.

Sorry, I don't know that TV, but there are a lot of devices with the same issue. Try https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK
https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK Maybe something like this?
- Can't tell in the pictures, but how many sources of warm light do you have when it's dark? Lamps are so cozy!
- Also, may not be part of the room per se, but a nice ceramic kettle on a heat pad with a nice mug you like is perfect for a cold day.
- Your room probably has a significant amount of LEDs and other sources of glare at night. Finding ways to reduce those sources of light helps me relax a lot: https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK. I see a blue light coming from your speaker for example.
- Do you have a white noise machine? Those really help me relax. You could also play white noise over your speakers.
- I can't tell if there is something soft under the desk, but I love a squishy carpet for my feet at my desk
No smart home is complete without them.
Black: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WSN8PK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 White: https://www.amazon.com/LightDims-White-Dims-Electronics-Appliances/dp/B00OOA7Q3G/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=lightdims&qid=1642784206&sr=8-7 Silver: https://www.amazon.com/LightDims-Silver-Electronics-Appliances-Packaging/dp/B00CM0AXXU/ref=sr_1_26?keywords=lightdims&qid=1642784229&sr=8-26
Note that the white comes in block out or dimming so be sure to look at the descriptions.
I found some of them blackout stickers that i used once for a deployment to blackout my Micca origen+ lights in my super dark desert bunk bed mancave. This is what I got
I have used these in the past, they make them in white also. They don’t leave any residue and you can either dim or block all the light depending on what version you get.
Just bought these. Fit the Xbox light perfectly.

I had exactly the same problem, so I bought these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009WSN8PK/
They allow you to still see the logo, but drops the brightness down to about half. I love em.
I covered mine up with stickers made for covering up lights. A set like this one. https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK
These should do the trick.

> Neither of the masks I've worn were exactly uncomfortable, but I find it hard to believe I could ever find a mask as comfortable as you're describing. I started out with what they called their "least intrusive" mask, which was one of the nasal-only ones.
I'm presently using this. If you look carefully at the picture you'll see that it doesn't actually cover anything or go into your nostrils, it sits just below your nose and has a hole to blow air into the nostrils. (It's called the "dreamwear nasal cushion".) The hose attachment is on the top of the head. Honestly, I feel a little pressure from it at the top of my mustache, but otherwise it's like it's not there. Also normally (with other masks) I have to have the straps a bit tight to wear it, but on this one, they're pretty loose, I don't even have to open straps to put it on, I just pull it over the top of my head.
> Then they switched me over to a full face mask which is generally a lot better but still causing a lot of problems. The mask I have now, they said was good for people who toss and turn a lot and very secure/hard to get off accidentally.
You say "they switched me over". Figure out what you want and insist on trying it. Stop allowing them to be in the driver's seat. It's time to make this happen your way. Sure, let people advise you, but make your own decisions.
I'm harping on this because having the wrong mask is a major reason why people fail with CPAP. With your issues it's just going to be harder for you to get the right mask.
> Should I just be trying different styles within those two types? I guess I should stick to full face masks because I've been finding that more pleasant, but what should I be looking for? It's hard for me to "consider what my issue" is here with the mask because both styles were pretty unpleasant. I guess I'll try to think about the differences.
That's the way to do it. Think about what you liked and disliked about each, then do some research. I recommend you look on amazon to see pictures. If we weren't presently dealing with lockdowns I'd just advise you to find a place with a lot of masks and go try them on.
>> Do you have this sensory disorder when you're awake? > > Oh yeah, I'm autistic. I mentioned that to every doctor etc every step of the way...
Doctors don't understand it, and a lot of them will discount it. Sorry you have to deal with the difficulties around it. I wrote a response to an autistic guy about sleep apnea recently, maybe it'll be helpful to you. Also, make sure to tell them not only "I'm autistic" but "because I'm autistic I have this and that sensory issue which make me to react to this mask in this and that way," so they have more information, because how an autistic person will react to it is not necessarily obvious to them. Maybe they can help you better if you help them understand how it makes you feel.
I'll also mention, because you are bothered by lights, that they make small black stickers that you can stick over lights so that they won't bother you at night. For example, you could put one over the charging light on your laptop so you could leave it plugged in at night. And you can use an Alexa for an alarm clock - get one with no lights and no screen and you can tell her "wake me at 8am" and she'll make sounds to wake you up. No lights.
Please allow me to be honest: if you had mentioned you're autistic from the start, you would have gotten a much more empathetic response from me. So even telling professionals "I'm autistic, I will need some extra help from you" may be good. Given that you are worried about insurance taking the machine, if I were you I'd call the sleep center and talk to them about that, the fact that you're autistic, and that because of it you need some extra time and help to deal with all the disruption it causes to your life, and see if they can make the insurance back off for a while. Asking them to please help you with these issues at the same time may show them that you're serious.
> Mouse pads for the vibration is a great suggestion though, thank you. I'm not sure if I have any at the moment, so I might just try some towels for tonight.
Towels will probably help. I didn't have any mouse pads on hand, I had to buy them specially for the hard drives. (They're sitting right next to me right now by the way. I hear the birds chirping outside the window, but not the hard drives.) Just look for big thick puffy fabric covered mouse pads (the cheap ones usually), not pretty ones that are thin with plastic on top and a pattern printed.
> True, this is a good point, but what I meant to say is I was easily falling asleep at midnight and waking up feeling well rested 8 hours later, without an alarm clock, every single night for a long time. APAP machine coming into my life put a stop to that, threw my sleep schedule for a LOOP, and I haven't been feeling super well rested since. Frustratingly, my breathing feels better and general level of congestion has gone down, which I think is due to the machine.
Probably. I'm not going to pretend this is easy. You have a lot of difficulties to deal with from it. I want you to know that this probably can be dealt with, especially if you're calm and systematic about it and you take charge of getting what you need to make it happen.
>> You feel like there's not enough air, like you're out of breath, trying to haul air in and out of your lungs to get enough oxygen, or > > Yes. > >> There's plenty of air but you can't exhale, or > > Yes. > >> There isn't enough room around your mouth and nose for there to be enough air for you to breathe? > > Yes. Not trying to be flippant here or anything, but I definitely have all of those problems you described, and I appreciate your specificity. This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get by posting here 🤩
I'm glad I'm able to help. Was my original message clear enough about how to deal with each of these issues, or would you like me to reiterate or expand on any of them?
> I still honestly don't totally understand what the RAMP function does. Temporarily lowers the pressure? When I talked with my sleep doctor about all these issues he lowered the pressure on machine slightly, but I haven't found that to make that much of a difference either way.
Yes. Your APAP has a minimum pressure and a maximum. When ramp is turned on, it stays at the minimum pressure for a set time (on mine the default is 20 minutes) so you have time to fall asleep while it's at minimum. This is based on the idea that many people won't tolerate high pressure. There's usually also a RAMP button so if you wake up and want it to go back to minimum for a while so you can fall asleep again, you can press it.
Thanks. They're the film sticker from here. They work great :)
Works well and you can barely tell it's on there. You get some extras too.
