So I used this: https://www.amazon.com/LimoStudio-Quality-Socket-Adapter-AGG882-/dp/B0091HO0FY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1469836205&sr=8-4&keywords=limostudio+light+socket Sorry for the long address, but it work well and hasn't been effected by the moisture from my spray bottle. What are your concern, water getting into the socket?
that actually makes sense lol. my plan is to have a 4 bulb socket hanging from the top and then two single bulbs hanging down around the sides once (hopefully she) starts growing.
thanks for the additional insight. what are your thoughts on mixing the two temperatures for the entire grow?
Ex: 2x 6500k, 2x 3500k, fitted into a 4-bulb adapter as my top lighting. LEDs below to supplement.
Better, but I'd get a multi socket bulb adapter and some kind of fan. Also checkout www.growweedeasy.com and the sidebar of this sub and /r/spacebuckets for some more reading. Aluminum foil is not a good reflector of light, use mylar or even just white walls are better.
yeah, if that is indeed a 30watt cfl i'd suggest getting a few more and splitter. or you can get one of these guys
i personally have 4x 45watt cfls for my single plant.
Yeah, you'll find the smell pretty intense once it starts to flower. Should have spent the $20 and got a 4 outlet limostudio http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091HO0FY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=39POF3Q77W0QZ&coliid=I2OI4VH1VIXZ96
I used one of the 4 socket bulb adapters recommended on spacebuckets and four of the 800 lumen 8.5W 2700K LED bulbs (Philips)[https://smile.amazon.com/Philips-455576-Equivalent-2700K-2-Pack/dp/B00WETI23W] that were recommended here (you can get them cheaper than amazon if you search). I cut the globe off the bulbs, and it works really well. I also have a strip of LED around the side of my plants and a 1'x1' blurple panel that was a waste of money (I should have gotten another 4x bulb)
Good materials recommendations: https://www.spacebuckets.com/materials
Light socket referenced on spacebuckets.com
Bulbs - Philips LED bulbs, 8$ for 4
Trash can $22
5 gallon bucket - $3
Fans - free
power supply on spacebuckets.com
LED strip - see amazon
Fan board, somewhere on https://www.spacebuckets.com/materials
At full blast, fans, LEDs & lights, it uses 100w (I plugged it into a Kill-A-Watt)
2 months Veg, 3 months flower
Produced 1.8 oz (53g) of dried flower, after trimming from stems.
Totally worth it, but the place !smelled! crazy-strong from veg through flower (gelato is much stinkier than any of my previous grows)
Thanks for the reply, CFL's vs LED's? I was starting my plans out with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091HO0FY and these CFL's https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M6SR1JM
But I see these are recommended on the spacebuckets website too, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G1J8ADM
I have pretty good electrical skills, tinkering with electronics is something I do regularly. But I'm just trying to start off basic and maybe work my way up later on, just to get the hang of it.
I assume the LED's are better because of less heat output and lower power usage?
I had a similar idea when I started my first bucket. It was a single plant bucket with a 4 way split of LED lights much like the ones you're thinking about. The main problem with the light set up was that it created way too much heat and heat stressed the plant so I switched to a UFO LED within a week.
My bucket had good airflow and currently maintains ~74 lights on with a UFO but with the 4 LED bulbs it was ~92 lights on. I'm not saying you can't do it but it would require a much better way to dissipate heat compared to a traditional setup . I grew 1 plant under 2 LED and 2 CFL (couldn't handle the 4 LED's heat) and temps were ~80 but the results weren't as good compared to my UFO grow which had less actual draw than the 4 bulbs.
Personally I still recommend going with a UFO LED, it might be a little more expensive but they are becoming much more affordable and if you get a product from china it will save you a lot. Aliexpress has some cheap lights, this light is 150W for 46USD.
However if you do decide to go with a 4 bulb adapter, I advise using this to avoid overloading 1 socket. Plus it has 2 on/off switches so you can control your bulbs seperately
Use this 4-way socket adapter instead, it will make your life easier: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091HO0FY. Plug and play, comes with a fuse and all.
Cheers!
Yes
Not sure about this! FFOF seems to be mentioned a lot, but sometimes can be too hot, if I remember correctly. I live in a country with very good soil, I buy bags of hippie made stuff.
I'm a bat guano lover. There are many kinds, but most are for the flowering stage. It is organic and won't burn your plants that easily. Mycorrizae is also a great addition, and Diatomaceous Earth and Neem can be crucial for pest control.
The soil I use is very stable so I can't talk a lot about pH. But try not to overcomplicate things, overfixing can be a in issue.
I think the best combination is 2x23w and 2x42w! http://i.imgur.com/voChbgp.jpg
Those 13w are too weak.
There is a cool 4 fixture adapter that you can use to simplify things.
Those are all very good points. You may have made a convert of me lol.
I was hoping to avoid most of the wiring by using something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091HO0FY/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_zRvTub1RG85R3
