I don’t see this 2.8 ounce Lixada 10W High Power Panel in the list. I’m not sure this is quite it, but some day in the near future the tech is going to cross a line into feasibility and make battery packs a less obvious choice. This is starting to get close.

Hopefully the link below works, but I got that solar panel a few months ago. It's super light and works like a charm. I've taken it backpacking and store it right up against the back/frame of the backpack to minimize flexing. The solar cells are encased in some type of plastic that's reasonably sturdy but flexible
The only annoying part is that the USB output port kind of awkwardly sticks off the corner.
I generally use it in tandem with a small battery and have been happy with it. I still need to test the actual power output to get some hard data

No the advice you were looking for, but for me, all over the JMT.

It weighs about as much as a USB power adapter itself, and completely charged up my small 6700 mAH battery everyday. The entire setup weighed less than a 10,000 mAH power bank.
Solar doesn’t work everywhere, but it did along my 2020, and 2021 JMT hikes.
> you could carry 4 of them for the weight of any usable solar setup
This panel is 2.8oz. Paired with a single cell and Nitecore F1 — it is usable, and works well for some trips, environments, and is nowhere near 4x the weight.

They also have a smaller 5 watt charger
I have also heard from others here about this Lixada Solar panel $19, 2.8 oz but makes 10 watts of power. Pretty good looking panel, Just strap it to the back of your pack and charge while you hike.....
I purchased a Lixada solar panel. It only seems to charge my airpods case, not my iphone or backup battery. Anyone know why this might be?
I use this tiny solar panel to charge phones/battery packs. It works okay, I prioritized being small and light though.
I can't find the video, but I saw a DIY camper van someone put together that used a large portable battery pack (random example form Amazon) powered by a rooftop solar panel (random example) to power his phone, laptop, fans, etc. without having to wire into the van's existing electrical system. I've often thought that such a system would be pretty cool for an apartment, albeit a little pricey.
Yes, this sub loves battery banks but a 2.4oz solar panel + 3.3oz 5,000mah battery/adapter combo will be enough to weather multiple overcast days and shady trail.
This video has been marked private, but the dude did the GDT with it and was getting plenty of mah during even sub-average days. One comment even says "An hour of direct cloudless sunlight is ~800mah or ~4 hrs of screen time for me."
Sure the VLT is hella shady but it's not like you can't see the sun at all. For those that like spending the absolute minimum time in town, it's a viable option.

Google JMT lixada 10w. A user used this one.
No beacon. There are lots of people on the trail, I am not that worried about an emergency where someone around wont have one. I didnt take one last time either and never felt like I wanted one.

Solar charger is this one off amazon. I tested it and just point straight up, not angling it at the sun I can fill the 6700mah battery or get close to full from empty in a day. I dont need that much so if its even half a charge every 2 days I will be fine for what I need.

Resupply is TM, Reds, MTR. Resupplying often so I can keep my weight down in the beginning to get my trail legs then the weight will be less important.

Best of luck as well.
