There’s tons of cheap USB fingerprint readers that work great with Windows Hello on Amazon.
The cameras are generally speedier. Another I haven’t seen mentioned yet is the Logitech Brio:
Logitech Brio Works with Windows Hello which I use all the time and it's flawless in that respect. I only use it otherwise for work video calls etc and it's been great for that.
I just grabbed ~10 Logitech Brio's. They're 4k with an omnidirectional mic so it'll pick up people speaking on the other side of the room.
You guys should get a 4k webcam so when you do punch ins and crops you don't lose as much quality. You still serve in 1080 but you get the 4x cropping room of the higher resolution.
like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-BRIO-Conferencing-Recording-Streaming/dp/B01N5UOYC4
Yes, it will catch your fingers while typing on a video conference using the web cam & you will be at a ridiculously weird angle. I went and got a Logitech BRIO, you may not need all of its features but I have a few client meetings a week and wanted the best possible video I could get.
I use a Logitech BRIO attached to a flexible webcam stand.
You don't need something as expensive as a BRIO (I had the cam already for working at home) if you are only using it for Spelltable. Just make sure whatever camera you get is compatible for the mount you have. I really like the flexible arms, but they aren't terribly steady. They are normally fine, but if you already have a desk that moves a little, then it might be an issue.
Another note, you want your play area to be bright, but you don't want the light shining directly down on your table. So I'd avoid cameras with built in lights, as those tend to cause glare on the card sleeves (in my personal experience at least).
Not sure where to get it fixed. But you could also try it yourself if you have the equipment (soldering iron and what not) and a spare/sacrificial USB-c cable. To my knowledge USB-c has more cables to connect than USB 2.0, but the concept should work either way.
Instructions:
https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-splice-two-usb-cables-together
Not sure it will last long enough to warrant the repair cost if it cost more than $50. Keep in mind that it will create a weak point in the cable if anyone tugs it in the future.
If you are comfortable with 4k (does not appear to do lower resolution, but I could be wrong) webcam, an alternative for a replacement webcam that is on sale right now:
Logitech BRIO for $189.49.
Either way good luck, and hope you find someone that can fix it for significantly less than the replacement cost.
An external camera can be used for Windows Hello, but not the C920, it doesn't have the hardware for that to work. Windows hello requires IR emitters and sensors that the C920 doesn't have.
You would need something like the Logitech Brio or the Dell Ultrasharp for that.
Here's a build I put together. It has no RGB, metal side panels on a premium case (so it'll never shatter and you can stick sound deadening materials like Kilmat to them), and all available off Amazon.
The 12600K is a 10 core (6 Performance 4 Efficiency) CPU from Alder Lake (12th Gen) that is the best balance of performance to budget for a gaming rig. It is more than capable of most productivity tasks, and the efficiency cores are well worth it. This is also an unlocked CPU capable of overclocking, which means you can get some more performance out of it with some tuning in the BIOS and a good cooler, such as the Noctua NH-D15S.
Note that the NH-D15S is special in that it is not symmetrical like the regular NH-D15, but rather slightly offset, leaning away from the GPU and RAM, giving it much better compatibility and tolerances for RAM height and GPU size. The one single fan works just fine, though you can still buy an additional fan from Noctua to strap to the cooler, as an extra fan mounting bracket comes in the box.
The motherboard, MSI Pro Z690-A Wifi is recommended by the legendary overclocker and board modder extraordinaire, Buildzoid. It has everything you could ever want for your build - BIOS Flashback, AX wifi, strong VRM with good cooling, nice build quality, and good BIOS software. It's a great option for even higher end CPUs.
The RAM I found for you is the amazing 8.889ns Crucial Ballistix kit, featuring Micron's famous E-dies, which are of amazing quality and can also be overclock quite easily. These are getting rare so get them while they last!
For the GPU, I would recommend this EVGA 3080 12GB version, though I should note that the Gigabyte 3080 12GB is like 800 dollars, more than 200 bucks cheaper - all you need to make that GPU good is swap out the thermal pads inside for better aftermarket ones, which is what I did with my 3080 Vision OC, and it's been working amazing.
I recommend checking out Fractal Design's cases, like the Meshify 2 series, or the Torrent series. I think the Meshify 2 Compact would work great for your build, though the Torrent Compact would also work great, but cable management in the Torrent Compact can be a bit difficult due to the space behind the motherboard tray being rather shallow. Fractal Design makes top notch cases with amazing build quality, brilliant design, and their customer service and RMA support is peerless.
To fill the case out, though the Meshify 2 Compact features good stock fans, they are the 3 pin variety, so perhaps consider grabbing some of these Corsair ML140 Pro and ML120 Pro? They are the nice maglev fans from Corsair that has no bearings, so the fan just floats inside a magnetic field and spins freely without much noise. If you go with the Torrent, the stock fans are amazing and don't need replacing.
For the PSU, I personally run the Corsair RMX series of PSUs, featuring those same ML120 fans. Silent and efficient, they feature some of the very best designs and components in the industry. With the legendary JonnyGuru working at Corsair PSU development, you can rest assure that their high end stuff is always flawless.
For monitor, I recommend the LG 27GL850-B, currently at a great price. I use it and have no complaints at all about it. Works with G-Sync and has great colour accuracy and G2Gresponse time.
All of this, for 2700 USD. Not too bad. You have 300 dollars to spend on other stuff, so why not consider a new headphone, mic, webcam, keyboard, and mouse?

I think people are assuming that the one from Best Buy a month ago was a 1080p 60fps, which it definitely was not. It was a 1080p 30 Fps webcam. Here's post for the Best Buy one a month ago. They also actually got the model wrong in the post title because it's called the Logitech 1080p Pro Stream Webcam, and not the C922.
The only one I am aware of by Logitech is called the Logitech BRIO, which is a 4k 30 Fps/ 1080p 60 Fps webcam. I have never seen it dip below $150, however it does frequently bounce between $150 to $200.
Maybe something like the Logitech Brio
Meeting room holds 8 or 10, person sitting furthest away would be 12 feet or so.
Thanks!
