Amazon Spain has Fidelio X2s for 150€ currently https://www.amazon.es/Philips-X2-00-Auriculares-abiertos/dp/B00MRUPSHQ/ref=lp_13757286031_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499726594&sr=1-4
EDIT: Price lowered to 139.99€
Guessing it's for all of europe
I've kind of out of headphones since I got my HD800 and an Audio GD NFB-28...is the Fidelio X2 worth trying and would it benefit at all from the Audio GD? I know it doesn't need the amp power, but maybe it helps the sound.
Did you see the thread where the X2's are on sale at Amazon UK? They are shipping to the US for $150.
The X2 doesn't normally need an amp. The least expensive amp/DAC I would recommend would be the Fiio E10k, which pushes past your budget limit.
If you want other options, look at the DT 770 Pro (80 ohms) or the Beyerdynamic Custom Studio. Both closed back, but not bad for gaming. These might need that Fiio. And the HD 598 SR would be a good gaming set that wouldn't normally need an amp.
I wonder the same, amazon germany has one version (X2/00) on sale currently click
Would be a shame if this is the old batch, X2HR (new pads and headband) are just unreasonable more pricey.
Im looking at getting the Philips fidelio x2 because they seem to be a really good price. However i've heard that the quality tanked when they changed manufacturer. I can't find any reliable information on if there still any good so does anyone here own a pay that was brought after the change? Also, does anyone know the difference between the x2's and the x2hr's? Thanks
Definitely the K7XX. They are extremely comfy especially compared to the 900x in my experience. They sound pretty similar to DT880s but with less of a treble spike. They have an enormous soundstage as well. For $200 its a great value. The X2 that was suggested above is also a great pick, and are on sale for cheaper than the K7XX on Amazon UK
I really like how my X2s look and I'm still completely satisfied with the sound they produce, but mine are starting to sort of trashy after 2 years of owning them, all the paint and stuff is just starting to wear off around the edges. So I was considering buying another pair.
If I do, at some point, buy another set of X2s, what's the difference between the X2/00 and X2HR/00 on this page? They aren't available on US Amazon but the ones sold by UK Amazon are only $180 before shipping. Why are they so cheap now?

558 are ~127 Euro
559 are ~85 Euro.
While browsing Amazon.de I found these https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00MRUPSHQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1
I don't know much about headphones but I heard that X2's are amazing and usually cost around 200/300$? For example locally they cost 280 Euro here. Isn't 145 euro with free shipping really good deal?
Well I hate to hurt your wallet, but if you are interested in the X2's, someone just posted this deal on them for $150 shipped. That price is insane as I don't even see them sell for this low used. I might pick one up myself.
X2 on sale at Amazon UK at present.
Roughly $150 USD with shipping. When you get to the checkout the price drops from 129.99 GBP to 108.33 GBP, or at least it did for me.
That's good enough, cheers, the fidelo is on sale on amazon so I am going to get it, is this the one you're on about?
See if you can get them shipped to your address. They'll refund the custom fees afterwards, to get your final total. Should be something like $238 USD shipped, maybe :)
I've ordered a pair of X2s from Amazon UK (amazing discount!). I might purchase a DAC later but will have to make do without one for now.
I have an older Logitec 5.1 surround speaker set (you know, that one set everyone owns or has owned at some point in their lives :p) and it has a 3.5mm out port on its main satellite.
How would using this port on the speaker affect the sound coming from the X2s compared to plugging the headphones directly into my MB?
Thanks!
Might find the AKG K702 lacking in bass. Open-backs in general you might find the bass deficient just because of the design.
That said, could try the Phillips Fidelio X2.
Phillips Fidelio X2 on sale for 250£ amazon UK. These are open back and have a warm signature. They're easy to drive so you can even use them out of your phone, no need for an amp. They're also pretty comfortable for those long gaming sessions.
Sold and shipped by amazon.
Amazon UK. Here's the link.
Then for Fun, the X2.
Which means, you're right in line for the Amazon Fidelio X2 deal going on right now.

Don't buy them at that price. What a rip off. Amazon UK is selling them for £129.00, and even with shipping to the US it comes to $180.

The Fidelio X2 is still on sale for £129 from Amazon.uk. That comes to about $180US. At that price, they're a no-brainer.

Fidelio X2 (yes, order them from the UK)

I chose these two because you mentioned the desire for an attached microphone. Either of these will accept the VModa BoomPro which is an affordable, nice sounding mic that plugs right in and avoids having extra cable clutter.
Your other best options would be the AKG712pro or the DT880 paired with an Antlion Modmic at the expense of an additional cable.
Or a desktop mic.
The 'I've lost my mind, but found my wallet' options include the HD800 or Focal Elear.
In-depth reviews for everything mentioned available on youtube.
Some good options for headphones within your price range:

I use the X2 's.
If you think you would like to attach a microphone later, focus on the 3 that use a 3.5mm cord detachment. This would allow you to add a VModa BoomPro microphone which is a simple, good sounding, single cord solution.
In the same price range you could get the
That's game over for anything else.
Just in case someone might be in similar position as me. I found a great deal for Fidelio X2 from Germany https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00MRUPSHQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I paid 149 euro with free shipping, actually got the headphones day after I ordered them. I don't know much about cans but oh boy do I love these!

oh ok... in this case I hope you are from Europe and can order this:
You should check out amazon.de it has NL shipping and is way cheaper than dutch stores such as bol.com or azerty. I have these: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00MRUPSHQ/
They sound really good and in The Netherlands it is 100 euro more expensive
Don't buy gaming headsets, buy a good pair of headphones and an attachable mic.
My setup is a pair of Phillips Fidellio X2s with a V-Moda Boom Pro Mic.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/BoomPro-Microphone-computer-Internet-telephony/dp/B00BJ17WKK
These are UK links, but they give you the idea. If you're looking to spend less, still go with headphones and that mic.
Ah good to know.
HD 598:
70 pound difference, from your experience which one should I take?
I also noted there are few models of the HD598
Ah I see. Sorry, was trying to find a place close to you to save you shipping from ordering international.
At the very top of your price range, the Philips Fidelio X2. Good bass for metal, hard rock, dubstep, etc., decent soundstage, comfortable to wear as the clamp force isn't excessive (some might say it's too light). Downside is they're open-back which means sound leakage.
Or the Beyerdynamic DT990. Good bass, comfortable to wear, easy to drive so don't need an amp. Also open-backed.
This is a little above your price range sorry, but the Fidelio X2 plus a V-Moda BoomPro are pretty nice as a combo. The X2 has nice bass plus they're pretty light and come with velour earpads.
Budget: Max 150 - 200 (Euro)
Looking for a DAC/AMP with mic input, I have Philips X2 headphones with ModMic but the modmic is super quite, have to boost mic gain so people can hear me which in turn make the mic sound pretty bad. Seems to be a problem with my Motherboards audio, a lot of other people with Realtek audio have the same problem.
Source: Desktop
What I have been looking at:
At the moment leaning towards Creative BlasterX G5 or Creative Sound Blaster Omni haven't really seen any options outside of Sound Blaster for DACs with mic input.
Or maybe a simple cheap mic to usb sound adapter is all I need?
I have read the Philips X2 don't benefit too much for a DAC or Amp. Anyone who has run into similar problems with their ModMic could you let me know how you solved it, thanks.
Location: Ireland
The X2 would probably work for you
Perhaps the Fidelio X2: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-X2-00-Fidelio-Headphone/dp/B00MRUPSHQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436186608&sr=8-1&keywords=fidelio+x2 Along with a BlueTooth adapter like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cootree%C2%AE-Portable-Bluetooth-Streaming-Smartphone/dp/B00NXSQ1UO/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1436186645&sr=8-16&keywords=bluetooth+adapter
