I was a little apprehensive about it having a mesh seat since I often sit on my legs/feet, but this mesh is awesome and super comfortable no matter how I'm sitting.
Also it works great on hardwood floors, the wheels are super nice quality and smooth (doesn't leave any marks at all), but still stiff enough that you won't roll away from your desk if you put your feet up/lean back.
Bonus is that it has flip-up arms, which means you can slide it under desks really easy when not using it.
I bought an Amazon Basic chair and I'm very satisfied with it. It's not a racing chair and has no gaming flair, so no increased fps, but it's really comfortable and affordable.
The Herman Miller Aeron is the gold standard.
However, I have a Alera Elusion from Amazon. It's got all the adjustability of a much more expensive chair; adjustable Seat pan, adjustable back, the seat pan angle and back reset angle are individually adjustable etc.

It is no Aeron but if you are on a budget, this is the best I have found.

I’ve used it for about 8 months now and it’s holding up nice. My brother got the same model after trying out mine. Biggest complaint I have is that it creaks when you roll around while sitting but not bad.

Disclaimer #1: AFAIK there are no studies that show the benefits of a kneeling chair (but then, AFAIK there are also no studies that show the benefits of a standing desk). Still, the chair made a huge difference for me.
Disclaimer #2: To adjust and get used to the kneeling chair, I would start with just 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon and extending the time gradually over 1-2 weeks. I've been using mostly a dining room chair...so yeah most anything is going to be better. I was looking for something that was ok with wood floors an that had arms that could retract (so it'll fit under a desk easier).
I wasn't sure I'd like the mesh seat, but so far so good (I sit on my legs/feet a lot). The overall chair build quality seems very high and very sturdy. Especially the wheels which are super smooth on my wood floors.
Comfort was better than expected, I'm digging the adjustable headrest (my first time using a high back office chair). my only complaint is the armrests don't swivel, but it's super minor thing.

As everyone else has said, I definitely wouldn't recommend a gaming chair as their too expensive and not comfortable. I actually wouldn't recommend many "gamer" branded things in general, but I digress.
I would recommend an ergonomic office chair, and look for one that allows you to sit straight up. My chair (linked at bottom) has a lot of adjustable levers and allows me to adjust the back piece forward enough where I am supported when gaming/coding. It varies per person but I have a tendency to lean over and have bad posture at the desk, so having a great office chair is really important and will save you in the long run from posture problems.

Need new desk chair. Old one (Maxnomic from 2015) has totally busted cushions and the seat plate leans to the side (have tried to re-tighten screws, no luck) which is adding a lot of unwanted stress to my hips and lower back.

I have a $500 budget for a new chair. All my co workers at getting Titan Evo chairs. I'm not a fan, I don't think they are very comfortable and I don't like the headrest pillow much either. I want a fabric chair with a cushion bottom, not mesh, and a decent headrest that tilts/rocks. I can find a few on Amazon but nothing name brand and I'd rather spend $300-$400 on a name brand than $200 on a knock off. This one does have 9700 reviews but never heard of SIHOO (or Giantex clone).

I have an old Steelcase Leap v1, for reference. No good place to put the clamps. I pulled the back padding off the back a bit to make room for the clamps, tightened them down, then bolted the headrest to one of the angled holes on the clamps. Headrest extension pushed all the way down.
The reviews for the headrest clued me into which clamps to buy and there are some pictures there where they installed the headrest on other chairs with better mounting points for the clamps. The Leap v1 just isn't a good candidate for this, but I made it work. It's ugly as sin but nobody sees the back on my chair, so I don't care right now.

It's a little on the expensive side, but I'd say it's worth it. My SO's mother asked me for recommendations as I'm a gamer and she was told a gaming chair was good. I have a Secretlabs gaming chair, which are around £3-400, but after telling her to buy the above and since testing it out myself...I would've been happy saving the money and buying the SIHOO chair instead.
Don't get me wrong, the Secretlabs chair is comfy, but it's not worth the cost, and Herman Miller chairs are way too expensive unless you can find a used one cheap. The Sihoo is comfy and has good lumbar support for your back too. It was £145 back in December but is still good at £200.

I do know what you mean, yeah. Mine hasn't quite annoyed me the way yours has, but I've had a similar feeling from time to time.
You could also try splitting time between a "knee chair" and a standing desk, if you really wanted to go "all in." Standing desk and knee chairs have the same problem; you really can't do them all day long. But you could probably split time between them (I haven't tried that myself).
If you think you would use a standing desk, uplift desks are awesome and good quality.

Looks like most models are the same. As an Amazon Seller, I think this one may be your best bet. The reviews aren't amazing but I own some VIVO mounts and they have good QC so I'd expect the same from this item. With that being said, this whole category has pretty bad Amazon reviews. You can view the top selling kneeling chairs of Amazon US here. There are 250-300 dollar models on the market but they look to be the same quality for the most part and most likely just invest their extra funds into marketing.
I got this chair a june 6, 2020, and it's held up great and is generally quite comfortable. Definitely well built with a lot of adjustment, recline, headrest, and a wide seat base. The only problem is I don't have much asscheek and the padding doesn't cut it for me anymore so i had to get another seat cushion to put on it.
If you don't like mesh then there's that potential factor becoming an issue, but i prefer it because i can stay cool.
If the padding was just an inch thicker with a 1" taller back i would have actually preferred it to a herman Miller. I'm 6'1" 200lbs.

I use this chair in my home office where I WFH, game, and do school work. This chair has been great for me. I'm 6'2" and the headrest adjusts enough for me to appropriately use it. it's comfortable without compromising support. I've had it two years and it's still going strong. Also get the version with the headrest if you can. If not, you can purchase something like this and get c-clamps. It's not the most sturdy thing ever but it gets the job done.

For people who dislike Herman Miller chairs, I recommend this Duramont chair with adjustable everything. Herman Miller chairs are too low-backed for me, and I hate the arm rests - the Duramont shape is a better fit for my body and took very few adjustments to get right.
I think the main issue was the "lumbar support", which was just a hard piece of plastic digging into my back, not cushioned very well. The arm rests didn't go low enough, but even with the arm rests and the back of the chair taken off, the seat just seems to dip too deeply. Yes, I'm using this desk for a computer setup, though I'd also plan on using it for writing as well. I ordered a second hand Herman Miller Aeron which will be arriving tomorrow, so I should be okay.
Duramont with adjustable everything. I've long used some of the cheaper suggestions on Amazon but was getting really sore after sitting in them for longer periods of time during WFH, probably in large part due to bad posture - but they generally have seats that lose their bounce after several hours of continuous use, and minimal back support.
The high back on the Duramont means you get an actually usable neck rest and much better back support. The seat is comfortable for 12+ hours. Adjustable arms are non-negotiable, IMO, and the shape of these armrests has a nice cradle for you to rest on. I like this chair so much I replaced all our desk chairs with it after a few weeks of use.
I have used most Herman Miller chairs and this one knocks them out of the park at a fraction of the price, imo - but I low-key hate Herman Millers and literally prefer hard wood chairs. For me, Herman Millers are far too low backed for day-long use in front of a desk, and the armrests are incomprehensibly shaped. I'd look through some catalogs and try to identify what you've like in the office in the past - once I realized I never had a nice high-backed chair and figured out my issues with the Herman Millers, it was an easy to find a chair with the features I wanted!

I currently have this on a tempur-pedic, so I know that it's comfortable and I prefer mesh in general. This would not be able to mount directly onto the chair so I would attach two plastic C-clamps to the chair and drill the headrest into the C-clamps. Since there is no forward-back adjustment on this headrest I'd use a heat gun to bend the column to get the right adjustment (I did this to the tempur pedic one to adjust it further back.

This looks like it may be able to screw right into the back the plastic frame at the top of the backrest. Obviously it would void the warranty and the metal fasteners would clamp down on the mesh back at the top and deform them, which maybe could cause damage or alter how the shape of the mesh/how the backrest feels.

Unless you have particularly long legs for your frame, I suspect your old Aeron couldn't raise up to its max height which is easily high enough for a 6' tall person to keep their lower legs perpendicular to the floor.
The average 6' tall person should have their computer desk at about 27" high. I suspect you may be straining to sit up straight full-time, which leads to pain over time. If you can lower your worksurface, this will help you sit back and get support from your backrest, relax your shoulders, maybe take some pressure off your vulnerable wrists and forearms, etc. Alternatively, you can install you can sit a little higher and use a footrest to compensate.
For sciatica, it is recommended to sit with your knees level or even slightly below your hips, the latter of which is made possible using forward seat tilt. Most high-end chairs these days, including the Leap, have synchrotilt mechanisms which do not allow for forward seat tilt. Synchrotilt mechanisms tilt the seat backward as you lean back, bringing your knees above your hips.
I think you would be best served by an office chair with a multifunction mechanism which allows you to set the seat and backrest angles independently. If price is no object, Neutral Posture and Bodybilt make the best multifunction chairs on the US market today. At under $300, you can get an Alera Elusion High Back or a Lorell LLR62000 (the former has average lumbar support tension, latter has provides pronounced lumbar support).

If headrest isn't an absolute must for you, go with the Alera Elusion High-Back Multifunction or the Lorell Conjure LLR62000, the latter if you'd like particularly strong lumbar support. Do you think maybe one of those kneeling chairs would work for you? This kind of thing. I've got a bit more to love but I'm not too big so I don't know how well they'd work for you, but I found them really natural to use with my back held up straight. Some people use an exercise ball for the same purpose but I still found it too easy to hunch over with those.

It’s a basic office chair from amazon. It’s not the most comfortable, but it does the job for me.
I'm curious to hear what other people say about this. I'm a recently diagnosed software developer, and I struggle with this too. So far I've focused most on posture and arm / wrist support since my hands aren't terrible with treatment. I use this office chair with extra padding on the arm wrest. With a special lower platform for my keyboard / mouse I don't need to move my hand much to use the mouse. That has helped a lot but on days when my fingers hurt it is still a problem because the clicking motion is difficult. I've looked into the 'joystick' mice but that seems even worse because the gripping motion is more painful for me. I use the Logitech MX Master but I wouldn't say its great. I haven't found a keyboard I can actually recommend yet.
I know this is a tad old but I had a decent experience with the Alera series office chairs. I did go with the simpler version of the one you posted (less adjustment knobs) and would suggest their high back version if you can afford it HERE
I did end up moving to a Steelcase Leap V2 and would HIGHLY recommend getting a refurbished model from someone like Crandall as they offer a 12 year warranty on a really well refurbished chair.
I understand if it's too expensive up front, but would still advise the high back version of the Alera as it was my biggest gripe (even with the height adjustability I figured out existed way too late into its life).
Edit: The Alera was also HELLA squeaky compared to the Steelcase even after it was lubricated with a silicon based lubricant
Thanks! The headrest is absolutely an essential accessory for me. I don’t find it particularly useful for me when I’m sitting up straight doing actual work. Where it really shines is when I’m off the clock lounging around at my leisure where I can typically be found leaning all the way back in my Aeron for extended periods of time reading, watching a movie, or whatever. I don’t remember being able to do this comfortably without a headrest. I paid over $150 for mine which admittedly is a bit steep. Yet, despite this, I can’t imagine having an Aeron without it. But that’s just me and how I use it. At the very least, I think it’s worth trialing out.

I didn't want a "gaming chair" (I don't really like the aesthetic of them), and I needed something to support my (at the time), shall we say "impressive physique"
Now I've lost a fair lot of weight, but it's good to know that this chair will last me awhile as long as I keep up with maintaining/dropping weight.

I have an Amazon Basics chair; specifically, an older version of this chair. It was pretty decent for... I dunno, 9-12 months? I'm only 5'8" and 125lbs, and a bit over a year later, I'm essentially sitting on metal. I do sit in the chair for 10+ hours per day, so some wear is expected, but it's become intolerable. Additionally, the arm pads are also down to the metal now, and the right armrest sags significantly due to the weight I've applied to it - I'd say it sits a full inch below the left one at this point. Honestly, the reason I'm on this sub right now is to research a replacement.
To summarize, it was acceptably comfortable for a little under a year, but don't expect to get any real mileage out of it.

- Yes, I take it with me all the time, so probably at least 1x a day, do docking station is important
- Okay, so plug everything in the docking station, and use one USB port on laptop to plug it in, and then just power cord separately - did I get that right? Btw, what are those USB ports w/ the "ss" on the side?

- Got it Haworth or Steelseries... my biggest issue Id say, is not so much the chair comfort, but that I always lean forward or get in a weird position on the chair, like I need something where my body weight naturally settles into a healthy position. Was even thinking of one of these kneeling chairs... or (not seriously considering this) but this type thing lol.
Takes some getting used to, but a decade ago a chiropractor recommended kneeling chairs to me for my back issues and I can never go back to the old fold-yourself-in-half kind again.
Please get an office chair, these gaming chairs are only comfortable when you sit on them for short periods of time.
