Pro tip:
To prevent Poseidon's Kiss, grab a lil handful of toilet paper and lay it in the water (in the "target area"), before you go. Paper gives a nice little "landing pad", if you will, and your butt will stay dry.
Also, I just got a bidet and it's the best fucking thing in the world. America is waaay behind on this. I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=bidet&qid=1565294427&s=grocery&sr=1-5-catcorr
it was easy to install and keeps you feeling sooo clean. Also need to use paper only to dry yourself. That way I don't feel so wasteful to drop a few squares in the potty before I go #2.
^sorry ^for ^the ^tmi!
The one I have is the Luxe 320 which has both nozzles and a hot water connection. Super easy to connect, and because I rent, I just have the plasticky hose coming underneath the door to the under the sink bit.
https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI
Oh you fancy! Mine doesn’t have an air dryer, but that would’ve been very convenient for a pregnant lady!
$60, they have some cheaper models but I highly recommend the one with hot water attachment, it's only $10 or 15 more and so worth it. Also the one like this with the lever water adjust instead of dial, it's better at adjusting pressure.
I have this one in both our toilets:

I just want to hijack this comment to let everyone in here who feels like they are too poor for a bidet, that this one on Amazon is amazing...

You're BH will thank you
Yes! Americans are especially unversed in the use of bidets as they aren't really a thing in the States. After experiencing them in Europe, I had to have one at home. And you can find them for so cheap! We installed this one ourselves and it can hook up to the warm water line
Looks like this one which we have, although the warm water line isn't hooked up. Totally worth it though! This one also has a "female" setting for those gnarly period days. That said, even if you don't get one with warm water hookup (we couldn't hook up the hot line) you'll rarely feel the coldness of the water on your butt hole. Only drawback is feeling like a heathen if you poop anywhere that doesn't have a bidet lmao
I'm from the USA, but I have a Japanese style bidet. Let me just say that the European style ones are way behind the times.
I have this one. It's so convenient. I finish pooping, pull a lever, move around slightly and then use a few squares of paper to dry (and make sure it's clean). All without getting up. The fancier ones have a built in air dryer as well.
When you spritz your anus with this bidet, you will know where that extra 20 dollars went.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to get the pipe over to your hot water under your sink so if that’s an issue for you then maybe just get the cold water one. Everything you need to do it, other than a drill and a drill bit, is in the kit.

When I got back to the States I immediately bought a bidet on Amazon. There are cold water options for pretty cheap, but I opted to get this one when staying at two different houses and it was totally worth it to have the hot water option. I missed the bum gun at first, but I ended up liking this style better :)
Elvileg jó a márka.
So my bidet has an adjustment on the knob to set it for women.
You still use TP after but just to dry.
Here's a magic trick.... You set the hot/cold to a comfortable mixture depending on your water temperature in the pipes.
I know. It's basically alien technology that no one has ever heard of.
I got this one
You remove the toilet seat, put this down, the bold the toilet seat back down. The water just taps into the regular toilet line.
As a guy who has a bidet, because they are amazing. I purchased this one. If you want to save some money. It has a selector for booty, vagine, and nozzle clean. Plus ability for warm water.
*Full disclosure, the water pressure can be powerful (if anyone else buys this model), so ease the water pressure or you'll cut your butthole in half.
I have this one. It is super easy to install. Your seat may not sit high enough though but that's a fairly easy fix. Or you could buy a new seat.
It works well has plenty of cleaning power and has a setting for the lady bits. It's also easy to clean.
The construction is pretty simple which will probably help make it durable and reliable.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
A bidet attachment! It works worlds better than toilet paper - cleaner, more comfortable, no mess and grossness, refreshing, and saves paper.
You can get this one for $64 on Amazon (also sold at Best Buy,) and it has all the bells and whistles. Warm water, dual nozzles (for front and rear,) and self-cleaning.
Can confirm. I'm never living without one again.
You can even get an attachment like this one that will absolutely not break the bank
I'll be the odd one out and say that cold is certainly not the way to go like 90% of the time and it is indeed horrendous during the winter.
By a nice heated one do you think you need something expensive that heats the water itself or something? Because you just put a T adapter on the hot water line from the sink the same way you put one on the cold water line from the toilet itself. I just had to drill a small hole in the under sink cabinet and the included hose runs behind the toilet paper holder.
It's only like $20 more for warm water and well worth it. I got this one 7 years ago and it still works like day one. No promises there aren't better options now, but it's a solid pick if you don't care to do research. The price currently says $57 on sale from $121, but that just looks like a scummy sales tactic because price history shows it between $50-60 for the past 2 years. I bought mine for $64 in 2015.
You probably won't end up saving too much on TP though. You still have to dry with it unless you use a towel. But considering you can never be 100% sure you blasted everything away I wouldn't recommend that lol.
Some bidets have both hot and cold support although if you live in a warm climate normal cold water temp coming into the house shouldn't be that bad. Been using a cold water only one for about 4 years and its been fine but recently upgraded to one with the hot water line option.

This is the one we have in our two bathrooms. It takes a little setting up, as it connects to the sinks hot and cold water. If you have a cabinet under the sink, you'll have to drill a small hole for the water line. It's easier than it sounds! And well worth it!

I've gotten many years of use from my bidet seat that offers warm and cold spray, and is self-cleaning. I paid $38 six years ago, it's gone up a bit.

Same as the other reply. Kit comes with a T-junction for your hot water line to the sink and a 10 foot PVC line to connect it to the bidet attachment.
this is the one i bought, it works fine and does the job.

but only after I lift my junk up on top of the toilet seat

I'll admit, it was weird at first having water shot up my backside, but I felt so clean afterwards. I also use a lot less toilet paper. I just use a small amount to dry myself off and I'm ready to go. If you're interested, I'll include a link to the bidet I bought off of Amazon. I had no fucking idea what I was doing on how to install one, so it took me like two hours to put it in, but the bidet comes with instructions and the necessary tools so it shouldn't be too bad. Cheers!

Luxe Bidet Neo 320 model... got it on Amazon.
So far so good! It takes some degree of plumbing skills and patience to install though. For the hot water we had to connect it to our sink’s water source (had to drill a hole under our cabinet to run the line to the toilet).
You can get non temp controlled ones (cheaper and easier to install) but I’m not a fan of getting spritzed with cold water down there. Luckily the kit came with all the parts needed to accomplish this (minus the drill component needed to make a hole in our cabinet).
Edited for clarification.
they have a hot water version but I don't think BB sells it.
the one I have is cold water only and I don't mind it at all (though in my apt the cold water lines aren't ice-cold).
and very easy to install, I did it myself and I'm fairly clueless about home improvement stuff. since I'm in a rental I needed one that didn't require any plumbing changes and was easy to remove when I move out.
I have a medical condition which is made more tolerable when I use a bidet do I've been using one for years. I have 2 bidets at home, both very basic toilet seat add-ons that cost less than $60 each. Cold water and hot water and a 3 position nozzle. I don't see how all those bells and whistles are necessary or provide any meaningful additional functionality. To my mind it's just one more thing to break, makes it harder to use the bidet because now you need to be sure you're close to an electric outlet, and makes the item 6x more expensive than a basic model.
Look for something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI
I frequently recommend this one available on Amazon. It can connect to the hot water supply of a nearby sink.
Not as bad as you’d think. We got one with the option for hot or cold water, but can’t access the hot water from the toilet.
It’s not bad so far! Like running your hands under cool water. Bidet in Amazon
Amazon, this is the one I got.
I’ve got a bidet. No problemo.
You can get a good, inexpensive one on Amazon for $60, folks. Maybe you should be a little less puritan and give one a try.

I believe it was this one, I remember it being 50 when I bought it a couple years ago but maybe it was on sale. 60 isn't bad though. There are cheaper options if you don't need the hot water but this one has served me well.

My husband got this one and he says it's amazing.
It’s life changing! This is the bidet we got. It doesn’t get plugged in to my knowledge. My husband hooked it up directly to the toilet. Don’t get the heated version if your toilet isn’t near a sink (we made that mistake).
Bidets are glorious and are readily available for purchase in the US. They are affordable and leave you truly clean with no irritation. Here's a model with hot and cold Jets for only $60. A basic cold water only model can be had for $40. For someone with IBS, Crohn's, etc. it's an absolute game changer and a necessity.
I got this one just shy of three years ago. I like the warm water ability when it's super cold outside (northern states).

I thought that sounded familiar, but it didn't look quite right. Turns out I got the Neo 320, with hot and cold water.
After using it for a while, you get used just the cold water stream. But sometimes, going for a warmer wash is nice and pleasant. I've had it for nearly 2 years now, still glad I got it.
Oh that's neat. Unfortunately I'm in Canada, but that link I sent you has a warehouse not far from where I live so one day maybe. This one looks like a good starter too.
Well, just ordered bidet attachments for my toilets. Went with the Luxe Bidet Neo 320 on Amazon. The best seller is half the price but this one looks nicer and includes the hot water option.
This is close to the one we have, and we are super happy with it. I suppose if we re-did our bathroom, we would get something else, but I don't see this as being a "trial."
Actually, we have this one, and I think that temp control is key.
Dude, the bidet attachment that I linked earlier in this comment thread takes 5-10 minutes to attach to your existing toilet. It comes in a small box. It is not a stand alone appliance.
https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI
surprised no one mentioned bidet here ... I just stopped using toilet paper after I installed this bidet. And best part is no more dry feces left behind.
One time purchase which lasts a life time.
That one is definitely a good deal, but I decided to spend a little extra on one with hot and cold water instead of just cold water. Totally worth the extra $35!
Yep, the Neo 320, never look back haha

Two gals here, we have this one in each of our bathrooms. We love it. Extremely easy to install, does the job.
I bought this one about two weeks ago and I love it.
TBH I'd probably get the version without hot water though.
Installing was super easy, took about 15 minutes. I needed a flat head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. I have 0 plumbing experience. The directions were pretty clear. Basically you take the toilet seat off, put the bidet plate over where the bolts on the seat are then put the seat back on over the toilet seat. The little lever sits to the left of the toilet and the nozzle is at at the back of the seat.
Then you turn off your water and empty the tank by flushing 2-3 times. Unscrew the little metal braided hose, attach a T-splitter that comes with the bidet to the toilet then re-attach the metal braided hose to the T-splitter and line up a new metal braided hose to the other part of the splitter to the bidet. There is also a plastic hose that attaches to the hot water supply to your sink but my sink was too far from my toilet so I didn't bother. I also heard read the plastic hose can leak. If you don't use the hot water you just put a little cap on the hot water intake part, but if you aren't going to use it you can just buy one without it.
There is a little guard over the nozzles in the toilet that I'll hit with my toilet brush every couple days, not really an issue cleaning it, at least not anymore than a regular toilet cleaning.
Can't answer the questions about durability, like I said it's only been two weeks. But even if it had to be replaced yearly, for $60 I wish I bought one years ago.
The one I linked you to only has cold water. However, this one (and it's less expensive right now!) has hot and cold water. And if you want one that doesn't have the feminine hygiene wash (I love this feature though!), you can go with this really basic one that just cleans the butt.
I don't believe there are any studies to show that diet can help close up fistulas but I'd be thrilled to be wrong.
As for the pain from the abcesses and the surgery... I've had 2 setons for 3+ years. Immediately after surgery I found that hot baths were my best friend. If take 2 lengthy baths each day (typically 45-90 minutes each). While in the bath I'd palpate the hardened part of the abcesses and they'd eventually break up/dissolve and wash away.
One other piece of unsolicited advice... If you have perianal abscess and the setons are in your butt then it can be very difficult to wipe properly. Bad hygiene increases the risk of infection and just generally makes you feel yucky. Install a cheap toilet seat bidet. Buy a few portable bidets so you can stay clean even when away from home. I think I really would have had a break down were it not for the bidets.
We have this and it's amazing!
They're not very expensive, this one on Amazon has good reviews, and it's got both hot and cold!!
You can get one that only takes up 2in of space to the right of the toilet bowl

I swear this isn’t king Richard’s Faire. I want everyone to feel how I do when I use the bidet.
I don't see no temperature control... Doesn't the cold water on your butt make you uncomfortable? Just spend the extra $15 and be kind to your behind.
You have two options: get an electric bidet that heats up the water or hook up to the hot water supply under your sink. I just installed a Neo Luxe 320 a few days ago and hooked it up to the hot water line under the sink. They give you a 10 foot hose (which you can easily shorten as needed) to find the nearest hot water hookup. It was a fairly straightforward project with the exception of eliminating the tiniest of leaks at the T-fitting... teflon tape won the day.
This now feels like a nice upgrade to my previous Neo Luxe 120 which doesn't have hot water. Truth is, I would 100% use a cold water bidet over no bidet at all. The hot water is just a nice luxury.
Of course! This is the hot water one that we have for 50ish bucks: https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI
And the same brand makes a cold water only one (hooks up to the clean water line behind your toilet) for 30ish. I prefer the warm water one but you can't always run a line to your sink from your toilet and the cold water is actually more ok than I thought it would be lol

Best decision of my life. Installed this one this summer. Lolll
I am convinced, next payday we are picking up the 320 model since it's only a couple dollars more for me in Canada and you get heated water.
This is a subreddit about bidets, an alternative where you get sprayed with a little water (from the wall) instead of wiping with toilet paper. From what I've read, they do a better job of cleaning you without needing nearly as much toilet paper (just one or two squares to pat dry). They're better for the environment and save money over time. You can get them as an attachment add-on for around $30 on Amazon. They're easy to install, they don't require electricity, and there are some models that let you control the temperature (provided your toilet is near your sink; mine is not).
It just seemed like it might be worth a try, but because I just set it up today, mine still needs a little bit of fine tuning to really work right.
I'm just trying something new (to me), kind of like how I recently started double edge shaving after using cartridges for so long (again: lower cost, does a better job, and better for the environment).

The 320 unit uses a connector from your sink hot water line to supply hot water to the bidet.
I got this one on Amazon for $60 and it has a hot water option
So the ultimate splurge would be the toto neorest with elongated bowl. Alas, that’s too bougie for my budget I settle for the bidet attachment from amazon. This this super economical one is a greater starter bidet. The tushy brand is a little nicer option as well.
I have this one. It is good if you have hot water near you can hook into. Being able to warm the water is nice.

you know you can buy a Bidet on amazon for under $50. Its a much better way of cleaning your ass!
no electricity required just a screwdrivers and a couple crescent wrenches
This bad boy was worth every dollar. If you are going to get one, opt for one with the warm water option.
Do you have a hot water source such as a sink near your toilet? If so, they make a hot/cold one just like this for about $70.
Is it just the sitting to standing part that is difficult or is standing itself difficult/impossible? If it's just the former then a long shirt will help conceal her private parts. A raised toilet seat and handle attachment can also be very helpful. I'll link what we used below.
For the bed, we added a wedge under the mattress on his side to prop him up a little and a handle at first. Eventually, we had to help sit him up. Most do get a hospital bed though.

If I'm reading it correctly, this one needs a hot and cold intake.
Thanks for your help by the way.
Since I don't want to assume you're a dude, I'll suggest this one.
This one has two sprayers at different angles, plus it uses both hot AND cold water. The front sprayer is most useful for women, but it could probably spray your balls if that works
Be the change you want to see You can even buy retrofit models like this one.
This one might work for you.

Depends on what one we are speaking of. Biggest issue is I don't have an outlet close enough or hidden away enough to get a plug in one. I can get warm and cold water blaster just by hooking up to my regular water line from the tank and the faucet. (Granted I have to drill a small hole in the vanity, it is worth it IMO) I personally like the 2nd option cause I want everyone's snatch to be clean.
Once you have a bidet the thought of having to go somewhere without one is a primitive disappointment.
