Gets you more table space for stuff too. Assuming there is an ikea near you. You can pick up their cable management tray too and BOOM super neat battle station.

As far as other things (I know you said you want stuff beside the rack, but come on man. You gotta go for the hacker cave look by racking that stuff :D): Ever thought about getting a dual monitor arm (like an ergotron one) that desk clamps that you put the monitor and laptop on? It'd let you reclaim some desk space under them.

Ergotron Dual Monitor Mount You can find them much cheaper used most of the time or go with a cheaper brand like SIIG. There are kits to convert one of the mounts to a laptop mount.

Ergotrons are awesome if it is in your budget. I set one up for my boss at work, and it was a breeze.
