Like several others in this thread, I draft my own patterns. I learned how a long time ago. I have all my basic blocks on craft paper and then I copy them onto medical exam tracing paper and manipulate the copies so my basic blocks are preserved. I can make anything I want and I know it will fit me. A book that I recommend is "Metric Pattern Cutting for Women" by Winifred Aldrich. It uses metric measurements, but I find metric more accurate than Imperial and it's easier to divide decimals than fractions for me. The Aldrich book shows how to do a lot of variations on basic blocks. Another great (but OLD) book that shows how to manipulate basic patterns is "Make Your Own Dress Patterns" by Adele P. Margolis. Yes, the designs are "dated," but the techniques are the same. It doesn't show you how to make the basic block patterns, it just shows how to manipulate a basic pattern. I had this in hardback many years ago, but I now have it on my Kindle.
