I got this (amazon) world-building/campaign creator book for Christmas, and it has helped a lot in building a campaign and populating the world. The book focuses on fantasy RPGs, and the worldbuilder part is somewhat basic but gives you a good start. I use it for 5ed aswell.

I also use the Inkarnate map builder, and it is awsome to visualize your world and/or make maps for the players.
