I spend much more on tools than I could be— that’s just the reality of a child-free adult in the building trades. 😂 Any opportunity to make my work life easier, I’ll jump at, so most of my tools are cordless.
That said, they don’t have to be. I made the switch because I was tired of managing and dealing with hundreds of feet of electrical cord every morning and afternoon, fighting over limited electrical receptacles among other workers, and having cords short out in puddles, or tug on my tools during important cuts. Working in a controlled, predictable space like your own garage eases all those burdens. So no shame in buying corded tools.
As for routers I have a couple.
This one— which is frequently inverted, but never in my router table.

This one— which sometimes I invert and put in my mobile router table, but really, being a dedicated plunge base router, really should only be used right side up.

And this one, a fixed base router that is perfectly suited to living in a router table inverted full time.

All that said— because you’re on a budget, especially since you’re starting out, if you see a good deal on a tool from a reliable manufacturer, it shouldn’t matter what color it is. I’m on three different battery platforms out of necessity, and it’s not over complicated. There’s no reason to have all one manufacturer, especially with corded. The benefit is solely to the tool manufacturer
