There used to be a couple of really informative groups you could gain access to via google docs run by (IMO) some of America’s top breeders. After a bunch of stupid politics and strain jacking following major legalization, one was wiped clean and the other disabled shortly after.
Fwiw 99% of good info you would find online can be found in this book anyway - just try this and don’t take advice from strangers who are ‘experts’.

r/microgrowery has links to some great resources as well as r/spacebuckets (sidebars). You just have to do a little digging. I ordered a really good used book on Amazon, Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_eOgXxb6RFX3V4, it included everything from germinating seeds to extracts and edibles. I got lucky and found a used copy for about $6. There are a lot of other great books out there as well. I spoke with the owner of a major grow op in Alaska and he told me that it is better to know how to grow one plant well than it is to know how to grow a lot of plants in a small space. However, commercial grow ops are going to have their own unique challenges. Things like dealing with government regulations and keeping everything extremely clean, to avoid losing whole crops. These are million dollar operations taken very seriously. Good luck my friend. May you find what you are looking for, both today and in the years ahead.
Sound like you could use a good book to help you, you should check out one of the “weed bibles”. This is the one I have https://www.amazon.ca/dp/187882323X/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=marijuana+growing+book&language=en_US&ie=UTF8&sr=8-1&linkCode=gs2&linkId=0b3e048071f135fa63b2aee0b43968f1&tag=heavycom07-20
Well worth it
Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3C15YFT5DEMWYVK2NJAS
Buy a book and read that.
At this point in the year don’t worry about the rain on your buds they will dry out just fine, maybe be worried if you have like a week of overcast and rain and the plants are not naturally drying off then you just want to spray with a nice safe natural pesticide like big time exterminator or plant therapy.
Also, you best bet would be to spend $25 on amazon and order a copy of the Indoor Outdoor Growers Bible. Will update with a link.
Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wMIOybDHH81NB
There's a reason it's called weed. The stuff grows itself. Every grow you'll get a little better, get a better yield, learn some lessons. I've only been growing for 2 1/2 years and my harvests are top quality already.
I don't know your nutes so won't comment there. Re: lights, the plants are AF so they'll let you know when they're ready to make buds. When you see the prebuds, flip the light. Easy peasy.
Highly recommend you pick up this book; it has helped me tremendously.
Before I started growing some moons back, I read George Cervantes indoor bible front to back and back again, I spent about 3 months on that book to make sure I understood the very basics at least. The book is an absolute must for the novice grower imo https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marijuana-Horticulture-outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
Marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes. Good book. Booook
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marijuana-Horticulture-outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=e4036748-a40d-4163-a387-04ed1b990c59 This is my bible. And I urge anyone with an interest in cannabis to read it. It's packed with facts.
If you want to grow weed, I'd recommend buying this book.
I've bought many growing books. This is the one I actually reference and keep around and doesn't just sit I'm my bookshelf. Too many others read like text books and don't have good pictures.
You want to cut off all the inner modes they will get insufficient light an you will be growing wispy buds not worth anything. Depending on the width of the branch you may want to take the whole thing off. Get yourself a marijuana bible this one helped me alot
If you’re growing inside you’ll want a carbon filter and fan. If you’re going for a small personal grow a 4” will work. The rule of thumb for lights is 1000w=1lb of bud. Led works fine, but you can get less expensive ones looking for general full spectrum instead of “marijuana grow light”. I wouldn’t grow in anything smaller than 5 gallons, 7-10 is preferred. The more roots the more bud. And remember synthetic fertilizers kill microbes. If you go synthetic, don’t stop giving them regular nutes until flush. If you go all organic and if you miss a week it’s no big deal
Id buy this book before you actually start to grow. It’s slightly outdated as there’s some cool new tech, but it has everything you could ever think to Google in it. Makes a cool coffee table book too. Someone usually posts the pdf after I recommend this, but I don’t have link.
https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
If you’re afraid of Google searches for everything, buy this. It’s a little outdated but should give you every bit of knowledge you need to grow. It also makes a great coffee table book to just browse through.
May not be exactly what your looking for but Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible has a chapter on hiding the smell of cannabis plants from law enforcement, some of the strategies might be applicable to this situation.
Once you start growing you’ll realize that this plant even if it survives won’t yield anything worth your time. I do highly recommend this book as it will help when you have thriving plants. Best of luck to you✌🏾❤️ https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3CUUTIA9WIPNA&keywords=marijuana+horticulture&qid=1641367248&sprefix=marijuana+hort%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-3
I watch a it of YouTube grow vlogs. My favorite is probably Mr. Canuck's Grow. But I've gained knowledge from a myriad of YouTube growers.
This book is what I checked after YouTube before making any final decisions for my plants: Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_HXZXNZAWMZS03J6GRER7
I heard an industrial grower mention that they made all of their growers keep a copy on hand (on a YouTube video where they toured the grow facility, but don't know who posted it, sorry).
Stop reading whatever your reading and buy an actual book the plant 100% needs nutrients for flowering they use less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potassium for flower that’s why your plant is dying. Consider buying this book Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_QHNC4Y8BDH6G0E11ZWSG It has a lot of good information on both indoor and outdoor growing.
https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
This book helps a lot and don't be afraid to ask stupid questions. Some people may talk shit but there are a lot of really nice people here that will give you advice. Just remember don't give up if you fail a couple times. It takes a long time to get good at growing.
Your a tad late for the outdoor season my friend…I always recommended this book your gonna get mixed messages on the internet or really any source everyone has their own tricks of the trade. That book is pretty well rounded https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_TPBHGRZ6SRMPH1KVM4VP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible https://www.amazon.com/dp/187882323X/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_ER92FB8AY3A5CMRPVS8Z
That’s the book I read when I started my first 4x4 tent and a 600watt light 10 years ago…started as a fun hobby now I do it for a living.
If you’re new to growing I would highly suggest picking up the growers Bible. It teaches you about anything you can imagine growing related. It’s also an interesting coffee table book full of new facts if you know it all.
https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
First thing I tell all new growers is to buy the growers bible and study it. You need to have a plan from start to finish, nutrients, soil, humidity, temperature, proper lighting, pH'd water and so on and so forth, it's a lot harder than just, stick in in the ground, put water on it and change the lights.
My real advice, use this plant to learn. But get that book, it will literally tell you everything you need to know.
get an easy grinder, its an electric grinder and they're freaking awesome. Or some new seeds if they grow, if not get them some and a grow book, I recommend Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible
First off buy yourself the growers bible https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544504780&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=growers+bible&dpPl=1&dpID=61Bhi13dw%2BL&ref=plSrch. Second plants and harvest yield is all up to the grower how much time and attention you spend on them dont think im going to spend all this money and bam instant marijuana, it takes care and understanding to raise this type of plant also look into fox farms for soil and fertilizers.
This is the one I have and it's fan-freakin-tastic. The only thing it's missing is a section on LEDs but it covers EVERYTHING else. Super comprehensive.
some people like to step up in small incrimints solo cup, 1 gal 3 gal 5 gal... so the roots take up the whole growing medium. this might be more important in dirt i dont know. i went from a hydro cloner to coco. they looked shitty for a bit but when the roots grew they came back full force. i am not sure if i should have done small bumps but it dosnt seem necessary. but i am not a seasoned vet. i think you should do more reaseearch. i recomend reading thie book it has alot more valuable information on it. or read some peoples grow journals. they have a bunch on the side bar. https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
> Oh, really? Like, what are you going to do when your landlord or other straight people walks in, or comes to the door?
Keep the basement door locked.
>Or when your fellow tenants/neighbours start gossipping about the smell?
Four plants aren't going to generate much odor, but if you are really concerned, you can add a carbon filter to your exhaust system.
As for the rest of your post, look, if you're a fucking idiot, don't attempt to grow pot--in fact--don't attempt much of anything. However, if you are a competent person who can read, understand, and follow the directions in this book, then you are well on your way to successfully growing pot.
Sorry, but your friends sound like fuck-ups and idiots. I went into my first grow when I was 20 years old with zero gardening experience. I bought a book, had a few chats with the guys at the horticulture supply store, and grew some bomb-ass weed.
In California, for the most part, all medicine comes from the dispensary's collective of patients. Any medical Cannabis patient in California can grow Cannabis (varying amounts depending on local regulations) and can 'vend' to any dispensary they belong to.
Tips:
Grow indoors.
Get this book.
Don't ever tell anyone who knows where you live that you are growing.
Buy clones from a dispensary, and make sure there are no spider mites on board.
If you are in N. Cali I can give you some more specific advice.
Edit: SB 420 allows for 6 mature OR 12 immature plants. It is not legally binding. You are allowed to grow what you need for your personal medical needs. All excess can be legally vended to other patients. Technically, you are giving it away for free and receiving a donation for your hard work.
Sorry for answering a bit late. I actually got more questions; what kind of pump did you use? (Brand etc) I have been looking on some kind of hydro system to use for a while but all pumps seems to be too noisy. I guess it was this book you meant? I have to look it up. Thanks for answering my questions :)

The Grower's Bible by Jorge Cervantes should be considered essential https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X this is top authority far as I know
This is the book that got me started. Great read and well written with full color picture references.

One of the benefits of using an LED panel is that you're able to target the spectrums of light that your plants use so you get more bang for your buck. HID lighting puts out a LOT of light in the green spectrum, for example, which your plants dont even use. This means that a 300 watt targeted LED array is more useful than a 600 watt HID. The important things to keep in mind are the spectrum the array outputs and the footprint of the array.
If you're using a 4x4 tent, you dont want a panel that casts a 4x8 footprint. And you want an array capable of putting out light in two different bands of red and blue, because the plants make use of a different set of colors while in flower. So a panel that has the ability to seitch between veg and flower settings is best. Also a UV booster switch is nice, since it encourages trichome production (they act as a natural sunblock for the plant's flowers).
A good myco for hydroponics is called Orca. You can find it in any good LGS or amazon, you dont need much so dont let the price tag discourage you, its an investment in your plant's futures.
I've always used Alaska fertilizer for my macronutrients (NPK) because I could buy it at Lowes and save myself $10 compared to the LGS and then bought whatever was on sale for my micros at the LGS. The brand generally seems to be irrelevant as far as quality goes. General Hydroponics offers the most product for the least price and doesn't spend a ton on fancy artwork for their stuff, so it's really the best buy. Don't be seduced by "bloom booster" fertilizers, its just phosphorus and Potassium mixed with molassas. Just be sure to cover all the micronutrients (nutes are no place to fall short) and you'll be fine.
Oh and buy this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
If cultivation is a religion, then this is the bible and Jorge Cervantes is the prophet. It's a bit dated in a couple if areas, but until you've gotten a few grows under your belt, this covers what you should know, including how to diagnose deficiencies and toxicities in you plants.
Vivosun is OK as far as meters go, Hannah is better IMO, but the important thing to have is a meter that measures PH and EC. In hydro EC (electroconductivity) is really more important than PH. And WAY more important than TDS when youre doing DWC.
DISCLAIMER:
I am not now, nor have I ever been a compensated spokeman for Jorge Cervantes, his publisher, for General Hydroponics, Pennington Seed or for Hannah Electronics.
There's many, MANY fine books on the subject, personally I recommend starting with :
https://www.amazon.ca/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
But there are plenty of other authors whose work is just as good.
This Did you even try to research this yourself?
It's space/emergency blankets that was declared 70% in both pages which is Mylar by a different name. Copied mistakes and all.
I can speak for the accuracy and GWE is a lazy hit and miss cesspool of misinformation. Due to cognitive inertia it's a poor source of information for new growers.
This is a quality source of information and used as a text book for a lot of "cannabis universities". It's sold more than a half million copies for a good reason.
https://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
edit grammar and here I am correcting just one GWE page. I've found other pages with more mistakes:

If you're down to do a little reading, this book is pretty much considered the marijuana growing bible.
Are you planning on growing indoors or outdoors? They both have their pros and cons, but it depends a lot on where you live.
Also, you might be interested in joining this new growing subreddit!
Oh, I hear you...yeah...sometimes I do miss the whole...co-worker thing. Luckily I know people from my last job and I do go to classes, so I'm not under-whelmed on the social front. It sucks I can't tell people what I do, but oh well. While the co-worker part of the day is nice...on the flip-side, I have intensely disliked both co-workers and, especially, supervisors in previous jobs.
So, well, pros and cons. It's nice being your own boss.
I like a good drink, too. But...I don't like having to piss like crazy, misinterpreting social cues, etc., and being...not...let in...to the club...like not re-let in after having a smoke (cigarette), because I'm "not sober" ("I can KIND of walk a straight line, dammit...oh fuck, who can actually sing the alphabet backwards, anyways...).
Heh. No, I can handle alcohol, I just moderate...mostly, but I still hate the dizzyness before bed, dry mouth in the morning and hangovers/puking.
Cannabis is much less.....volatile, that way. I find it more relaxing, I can do more on it (I work out high all the time, a la American Beauty :P ...cant do it drunk). Maybe you should give it another shot haha, I've known people who just had bad first experiences..? But, hey I'm not here to tell ya how to live :)
Oh yeah! Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible is a FANTASTIC resource for anything related to cannabis, including storage etc. It also has plenty of growing info, hash making, all kinds of stuff. Maybe you don't wanna grow, but honestly...I paid more than 22 bucks for that book I don't mind telling you! Worth it, even with the extra info.
But lets see what I can find in the realm of free info, and maybe other books. By the way, even though that book is likely avaliable at your local library....do not take it out haha. :P . Rercords, etc.
Here we go: this is a great site with pics
Pretty much everything it says there is GOLD info. Totally solid. Just...hm, weed should be sticky, but don't always expect it to stick to your fingers. Store it in an airtight glass jar over time and it will get stickier.
Also, I will post a few more pics of BAD weed so you know what to avoid. And just to add, BAD weed...not much smell, can smell...sorta...stale-y and I dunno...bitter? (not properly flushed [this is when you water the plant excessively, on purpose, in little soil, to "flush" out chemicals and nutrients and fertilizers left in the plant itsef]) or too much like chlorophyll, not enough like skunk (picked too early, low potency).
Also brown, yellow-y weed is a sign of nutrient disorder. Often Nitrogen deficiency/toxicity. Or Magnesium.
So yeah, without further adieu, the uglies: '
ahh well fuck me...I can't seem to find any shitty weed pictures...I'll look later more. Brown-coloured, dark and stemmy...
ok. so the lights are "Full Spectrum and Color Select Feature". so both together give you "full spectrum". while just bloom or just veg will give you a spectrum of light that is more appropriate for that growth cycle.
weather or not you use them together or separately is up to how much you believe light spectrum will affect your growth and yield.
are you familiar with how light spectrum affects plant growth?
Jorge Cervantes' book has a good chapter on that. So do many other books and websites.
as for how they should be arranged. evenly spaced, as close to the plants as possible (LED are 'cool' so they can get closer than others)
i hope something here helped.
If you don't know what you are doing I wouldn't spend the money. I had a consultant/friend who literally sold me his old stuff and trained me on how to do it. You know it takes like 4 months from seed to flower and that's 4 months of electric and nutrients before you can even see a return, and if you suck, the crop is shit and you would have been better off spending that money at the dispensary. There's overhead, gear breaks and needs to be replaced. I'm just NOW finally happy with where I am. It's a lot of work and a lot of money, but I turn my entire harvest into wax/live resin/shatter.
