Kinda depends on budget.

One option is to buy a tent, like a 3x3 or 4x4. Then get an appropriate light for size, and what you're growing.

here is the kit, it looks like it has a net like you mentioned. i was looking at a ph tester and they're about 120 cad.

the automatic watering may come later. im looking to sink around a grand to get the first crop going and add as i learn

I have about $3000 USD in my setup. It's very close to a complete, year round, climate controlled setup. Not including my electric bill.

At about $2000 I was ready to grow about 6 months out of the year. Solid setup.

It's hard to point to one source for the complete overview of everything you need, but I did watch a bunch of YouTube videos and read many articles, threads, etc for about 6 months or so before I started buying up gear.

I bought this one and an really happy with all of it.

It's usually cheaper to piece it together yourself, but this kinda gives you an idea of a complete setup.

Barebones would be:

Tent or a roll of Mylar. The tent is clutch for maintaining a stable environment.

Light and timer. Get a good full spectrum LED light. They will usually have details like veg and flower footprint, wattage, PPFD (intensity in a given space), spectrum, etc.

Environmental. Things like humidifier and space heater in the winter, dehumidifier for summer. A small fan.

You probably won't need the carbon filter. That's for growing stinky stuff. But may want an exhaust for air exchange.

Basically a tent, light, basic environmental with moving air.

Here's a light and tent for a small 2'x2'. It's a small setup, but it'll produce.

About $200 for that setup. Only 2x2 tho.

This might be a better option? Add on your preference on fans and nutrients. Either way doesn't seem like a bad deal for the local shop as long as the light is good.
