If anyone's curious, this is the thing that I looked at and said "I can make that myself for way less money." I actually did save money on the materials. Definitely not on my time though.

What type of wood should I use for building a floating entertainment center. Something very simple like this. I like the walnut color, so would that be a good wood to try?
I've only really made things out of pine and plywood and used pocket screws for joints. Would pocket screws work well in this case if I'd like to use a little nicer looking wood? Thanks!
