I use these and they work great.
I just have them zip tied to metal shelving. They're cheap, lightweight, don't get hot and are LED so less electricity useage.
I have 2 sets that I use for my entire set up, 2 per shelf.
I plan on using them to start my seeds indoors here shortly but they've worked great for my succulents, some even bloomed. People say you have to have the colored lights but you definitely don't.
I just have mine on a timer so I literally don't have to worry about a thing. I'll definitely have to pay more attention once I get my veg seedlings started, at least for water.
Thank you! These are the lights: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HBT3BVM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Do yourself a favor and check THESE out. They are ultra cost effective and put out a ton of good light. They chain together and look really clean. If you search for "Barrina" on here you can see some examples.
I got these recently and I’m pretty happy with them! I have 3 on my shelf with my more light hungry succs. 2 on one shelf with my less light hungry, and 1 on my prop shelf. I got them because in my sunniest spot they were still etiolating. New growth is all compact now, and even a little sunstress and some blooms! The lights are about 6-10in above my plants..
These are probably too long for that shelf tho. I know Barrina has 2ft lights like this that are actually made for plants but I’m not sure if the specs are right for succs. My lights stick out past my shelf so it’s not the prettiest but it’s functional. From my understanding the cheap clip plant lights from amazon don’t really do much of anything.
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ghNFDbAW91XJR
In my opinion, if you paid $3K for that little workbench and additions, you've lost your mind.
What do you have there really? A whole 8 sq.ft. of work space if you clear everything off? How can you sit back and be ok with that for $3K? My workbench is probably more than twice that length at 9' and deeper as well. It's made of birch hardwood with steel legs and if given some moderate care will outlive me. I probably have about $700 in that workbench. I'm all pegboarded out as well. You got a monitor up but in spending $3K you still don't have anything hooked up to it?? And what are you going to spend on a Mac mini, another $800? I snagged an aging gaming PC off of Craigslist for $120 which will handle YouTube and whatever other garage shit I throw at it quite easily. Snagged a 1080 ultrawide monitor on there for super cheap as well and mounted it on a VESA swivel mount. Your lighting is truly terrible. You have one light bar going across the top? Even in the video thumbnail you can see all the shadows being cast in that dimly lit area. Do yourself a favor and grab some of these. They'll make your garage as bright as the surface of the Sun and you'll never think about lighting again.
We got these LED lights on Amazon
Anything labeled ‘grow light’ are usually the red/blue lights (which aren’t fun on the eyes when you’re working next to them) or are a lot more expensive. We had some professional fluorescents before but needed a lot more of them with these shelves.
Since plants generally need that daylight color temperature we’re hoping these are good. The main thing we’ll find out is if they’re putting off enough light but we have 3-4 per shelf so we‘ll see! Reviews of those lights have people saying they use them as grow lights and they work great.
Edit: mounted with zip ties. Super quick and easy. Just need to zip tie and clean up the wiring on the sides.
I'm not OP and I don't know what lights he/she used but I can tell you which LED lighting I used for a lot cheaper.

These will make your garage bright af. I put them in my old garage a couple years ago. When we moved it was the first change I made to the new garage. I love them.
I installed the 12 pack version in my garage. Two rows of six fixtures. Shadows do not exist in there. You can chain up to 8 together per the instructions. I just put in an outlet close by the old light fixture to plug in each series.
I think the set I bought for the top was:
6 Pack LED Shop Light 4FT, T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 22W, 2200lm, 6500K Super Bright White, Linkable Shop Light, Utility Shop Lights, Corded Elect https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XQDP5X9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_JCQFWL4zmNi3l
And for the bottom:
Barrina LED Shop Light, 40W 5000LM 5000K, 4FT Integrated Fixture, V Shape,T8 Light Tube, Daylight White, Clear Cover, Hight Output, Strip Lights Bulb for Garage Warehouse Workshop Basement (Pack of 6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G2Q4VZN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_jA0.FbME2476J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I attach 40 inch 6500k LEDs to the bottom of the metal shelves with zip ties daisy chained together. I got a pack of 6 lights for $45 off amazon. I use 2 per shelf, at different heights each shelf
I kept seeing posts about these lights so I bought them on Amazon for about $40. My dad helped install them, instructions pretty straight forward. So far, seems well worth the 40 bucks for LED lighting.
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I6OnBb4Q1S3MQ
Thanks.
I used these LED tubes. I've bought dozens of them over the last few years. They're the perfect K rating for painting models and they don't draw much juice.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
You’ll need to look for lights with a kelvin around 6500K, and you’ll need 2000 lumens per each square foot you need to light. These Kihungs are popular around here. Also search for ‘Barrina t5’ on Amazon, and you’ll find nearly identical lights, just a different brand and quantity.
This six-pack of four-foot LED lights were (are) worth their weight in gold, highly highly suggest (very easy installation too): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XQDP5X9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks for your help :)
I added the link of the grow lights I got. There's 6 of them, so I thought it was worth the price. I got the shelf from home depot, they're about 90 not on sale. I had to find a shelf that was 4 feet long because of the lights, I didn't want to find new lights that were shorter. You could add them to anything, so it doesn't have to be a new shelf. You could get creative and spend less than me :)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_IiFeGb26HWFMY
Completely echo what's been said about light. Of course we can't see what light source is behind the camera, but this corner does look pretty dark (from the picture you've posted). In my experience, monsteras are pretty tolerant of most light conditions, meaning they will *survive* in most light levels, BUT if you want it to thrive and put out fenestrated leaves, the more light the better. Mine is directly in a south-facing window (I'm in the US northeast, so that's not exactly a south-facing window in somewhere like Arizona where heat could potentially scorch the leaves) and each new leaf is more fenestrated than the last. If moving it isn't an option, could you get it a grow light? (note that you don't have to spend a ton of money to get something that would help - you can buy a decent bulb for about $10 or even get a pack of T5 tubes like these which are relatively low cost to run every day and my plants love them :) )
amazon has a 6 pack of 48 inch led shop lights for 40 bucks. best investment ever

891 reviews 4.5 stars I got a perfect set. put 4 in the shop. one over my kitchen sink and one in the laundry room.

yes the connecting wires are a little short . but it comes with 6 power cords and switches..
Thank you! I’m using Barrina led lights that I found on Amazon and I zip tied them to a plant rack that I found at IKEA (links for both below). My plant babes are loving it too!
I usually do around 10-14 hours a day but I don’t keep a strict schedule. I turn the lights on before I start working around 8am and turn them off between 9-10pm give or take depending on the day. The rack is also in a corner of the room next to a west and south facing window so I’m able to put other plants on the top shelf of the rack that don’t need to be under the led lights which is nice.
Sorry, I’m not very good with Reddit :( I would include a picture of my whole setup if I knew how.
I went with this set of 6 integrated LED strips from Amazon. They can be plugged in or hard wired. I used one of those light bulb socket outlet adapters to plug them in.
https://www.amazon.ca/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Daylight-Electric/dp/B01MUKSZE3
I bought these and they're great. Two lights is enough for 2 1020 trays side by side. I bought a pack of 6 for my wire rack and it's been very effective. They're less expensive than my rack was!
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PBJRP97KN4F9FC5AW7V9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
2 for each row. 10in above tray
(Pack of 12) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F2WMCP2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TJXBYTT8592FMV1RDATE
Thank you. They do look promising and I'm sure they will appreciate the extra light once they leaf out.
Not a suggestion for improvement, just an fyi on the set up I'm using for mine. I've got them set up in a spare closet, so all their light comes from grow lights. I'm using this 6pack of led lights. They fit almost perfectly in the closet and the output is high enough that using a phone app light meter I'm getting them into the low range of outdoor light. Since the light is much lower than what they would get outdoors, I'm using a digital timer, this one, set on an 18 hour cycle.
So, I used this guide from the YouTube channel “On The Grow” as a template for what I ended up making:
They are a microgreens company, but I modified it slightly for microgreens and seed starts.
“On The Grow” breaks down all the equipment, prices, and construction! They even have some amazon links to the equipment, which made it easy for me to get my setup going.
I used the same lights they mentioned, as well as these ones for the top portion:
6 Pack LED Shop Light 4FT, T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 22W, 2200lm, 6500K Super Bright White, Linkable Shop Light, Utility Shop Lights, Corded Elect https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XQDP5X9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_JCQFWL4zmNi3l
Even though the cheaper top lights aren’t as bright, I like that they fit better into the space. I can also put three lights to a shelf instead of two.
I started out with a couple sets of these with 2 lights per shelf
and decided to try out these. Ended up just adding one of these to each shelf. I think it's making a difference. With the other ones, red lettuce would not actually turn red.
the two were compatible enough that I could daisy chain them together.
I recently did a ton of research and settled on these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_wwNZFbP6TJ4CK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 . You can remove the plastics around the LEDS. and then put 6 inches or so above plant 12-14 hours a day. My plants are loving it. I have four on a shelf. Maybe over board but they seem to like it
These are Awesome! I have all 6 in a single bay garage and it’s crazy bright!
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_fabt1_TzERFbMKK0SW5
Here's that link to the ones I bought for the seed starting. I like them alot. You can daisy chain them together to make one switch work as many lights as you want. I do three and three. Very bright and solid. Admittedly the little clips they come with to mount them a super cheap, but double faced tape would work well to for them.
I use Barrina 4' 6500K LED T5s and they seem to work really well. I have 4 of them on one shelf, and then 3 each on the other two shelves (they came in a six pack, so i bought 12 and currently have 10 in use). They haven't hurt my electricity bill much at all, and I've had my plants under them for about 3 months. All of them are doing really well, even the ones i had outside. I keep various succulents and cacti and have seen no etiolation on them, though I think they would have, had I not increased my lighting. (Originally, I only had two lights per shelf.)
I recommend getting a light timer for the setup as well, so that you don't have to worry about it. Mine is on for about 15 hours a day. The Barrina lights are not specifically marketed as "grow lights," but that's fine for my purposes as the grow lights usually have a purple color that gives me migraines or are much more expensive than the "shop lights." Just make sure it's at least 6500K.
Its called a LED T5. Each light is 20watts, 6500k temp, 2,200 lumens. Amazon has a bunch of different sizes, lengths and strength but these are the ones I bought. My BF helped me pry off the plastic "tubing" or whatever it's called, so its flush to the shelf and allows the LEDS to point directly downwards instead of hitting the tube and dispersing into your eyes

OP here. At someone’s suggestion on this subreddit, I bought these lights on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I put all six of them a few inches above my Echeveria and keep them on for 12 hours each day. I know from past experience that Echeveria Afterglow will IMMEDIATELY flatten out if it doesn’t get enough sun, and I bet if I put it outside tomorrow it would tighten back up. So that must mean my grow lights aren’t strong enough, right?? I can’t keep them outside because I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where our 120 degree weather will kill them. I’m just trying to get them through the summer by bringing them inside. Does someone have stronger grow lights they can recommend? Price is not really an issue for me.
They make fixtures that are very similar, but have a little bit thicker of a profile so the electronics are not stuffed in the electrical box.
This is just one quick example. I don't know anything about it or its manufacture so its not really a recommendation, but just an example.
https://www.amazon.com/TALOYA-Ceiling-Temperatures-One(3000k-Thickness/dp/B07PZT7RJS
There are lots of types like this.
I’m using these! https://www.amazon.com/Kihung-Integrated-Fixture-Linkable-Electric/dp/B086X1VYJX/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=kihung+3ft&qid=1597459401&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyNkE4OFFHOURFNDIwJmVuY3J5cHRlZE... It’s a fairly new item with no reviews but their 2ft and 4ft long lights of the exact same specs are pretty highly rated (seen some people on this sub using them too).
I'm not sure what you mean by the lighting unit - but the shelf was a gift from a friend (she was getting rid of it) and I ordered these lights off of Amazon! I based it off of the recommendations on the overwinter megathread on r/succulents (found in sidebar) and my budget. Since this was my first grow light set up, I didn't want to spend a lot of $. We'll see how it goes this winter :)
Hey there! I have some like these
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gxqDFbQH7N6JS
I believe I bought cheaper ones on Amazon. They’re absolutely amazing, my succs are veryyy happy under these strips. But BE WARNED- they are 4ft long.
My garage (which is not ideal but I couldn't figure out how to wire bright lights to the og light sockets):
1) Kasa smart light switch in the garage next to the door. 2) Kasa smart outlet plugged into the ceiling outlets next to the garage doors. 3) Bright led lights plugged into the smart outlets. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNPL2VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 4) Ring motion sensor.
When I click the smart switch, the bright led lights that are plugged into the smart outlets turn on/off.
Also using home assistant, anytime after sunset, when motion is detected in the garage, smart switch (and hence outlets) turn on. Then wait 3 mins, turn all lights off. This 3 mins is enough time to pull my car into the garage, get out of the car, unload the trunk. Or if someone breaks in (which happened 2 years ago), the lights all turn on automatically and should scare anyone away. I could also use the switch to turn everything off too.
If you know how to wire the led lights directly into the existing sockets, then you can skip the smart outlets which would have been ideal.
I'll try to get a pic later and add it. But it's similar to what Reed of Smart Home solver did on his YouTube channel.
Mine do fine in ambient humidity, which is usually around 40-60%. They do appreciate lots of light, though. In winter they can take direct sunlight that is filtered through a window. I don't have any good windows, so I use artificial lights (these) from October to May. In summer I put them outside in filtered light.
The dust and having to bend over all the time was miserable. I took many breaks out in the hall just to stand up straight. And when I washed up after I was done each night, my snot was black!
I thought about using all 8 lights, but 6 is plenty for this space. I'm planning to mount the other two in the east attic over the AC units so there's good light in there. If these lights hold up over time, I would strongly recommend them. They're kind of cheap and flimsy-feeling, but they do the job and they came with an absolute hogs head of different wires... 7 wires for daisy-chaining them together, 2 pigtails for hard wiring, and 4 switched wires with two-prong plugs. They also came with short rigid connectors for connecting the tubes end-to-end in a single piece.
I believe these are the ones although the posting has changed slightly but I assume they are the same.
I have them set up pretty much as close as I can to my succs and I get growth my whole canadian winter... Except my agaves, they don't budge lol
I glued them to my shelf. They work great for growing plants
I use These and my plants are doing very well. You want to know how many watts the light is (not the best way to measure light) the more the merrier.
I've condensed my setup but this is what I do for my plants over the winter. Top row is succulents, bottom row are herbs that I'm growing in a jar, some rosemary, and various other things. The lights are strong enough that I can water my succulents over the winter without them stretching out, and I can grow just about any herb.
These are the lights if you want to do something similar. Each rack has 3 of those lights. Your bonsi will want to be fairly close to the lights, other plants will probably be fine further away.
I also have a pothos and a larger jade plant that I just leave next to my windows. If yours are regular indoor plants they'll probably be fine with normal indirect sun close to a south facing window. Maybe some added humidity too.
This can be a nice solution: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/
I have four of these in my garage and they provide a lot of light. They are inexpensive, so you can buy as many as you like and link them together.
I got these linkable lights from Amazon for my 3 car garage. Arranged 2 sets in 4 strips, incredibly bright now in my garage. They are super lightweight, you could arrange them along your rafters
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is a lot better value Imo. You can definitely grow large healthy heads of lettuce under regular shop lights. Other plants might need more but I’ve grown multiple varieties of lettuce, cilantro, mint, and dill under these lights and it was all way healthier than what grows in my backyard with 5-6 hours of direct sun light a day(too many big trees).
I second this, I grow lettuce and herbs under cheap t5 led shop lights and have gotten some monster heads of Paris island romaine, butter crunch, and several other varieties. The ones I use came in at around 8-9$ a piece when I bought them.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Those are the ones I used. I used the same light from germination to harvest at a fixed height and just let them grow into it. Was able to harvest off of all of them many times and ended up with about a foot high bare stalk with a bunch of lettuce on the end before it finally stopped producing.
https://www.amazon.com/Kihung-Integrated-Fixture-Linkable-Electric/dp/B086X1VYJX This is the light set I bought. And this is my enclosure, been going for about 7months now https://www.reddit.com/r/Vivarium/comments/wbv9nd/5x2x2_cornsnake_enslosure/
I got two packs of these and my garage lighting is much better now. You can plug them in or hard wire them. https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Utility-Electric/dp/B01HBT3BVM?pd_rd_w=FpG42&content-id=amzn1.sym.bc622850-a717-4d94-96c3-7cc183488298&pf_rd_p=bc622850-a717-4d94-96c3-7cc183488298&pf_rd_r=A0J9B622NAA0XE8HJBGN&pd_rd_wg=uwxYI&pd_rd_r=4f328fd4-1541-40ab-bfb1-deb9f322b8b5&pd_rd_i=B01HBT3BVM&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_17_t
I think it mostly just how philodendron burle Marx grow, they can put out multiple leaves at the same time and they can have multiple leaves on each nodes. Unlike most other philodendrons one leaf at a time for each nodes. For my set up I just grow it under Barrina T5 light in a semihydro pot. https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Utility-Electric/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=sxts_rp_s_a_2_0?content-id=amzn1.sym.9cb06d61-cbae-4109-9d1e-14578fae3d41%3Aamzn1.sym.9cb06d61-cbae-4109-9d1e-14578fae3d41&crid=25KNVA7T7D7CR&cv_ct_cx=bar...
Fun fact you don't need anything that says "Full Spectrum". It's just marketing. I use these and my plants are thriving.
Amazing! Ok so I have questions. I also grow mine indoors with grow lights on a large shelf. They do show some stress colors but nothing like this! Do you have any idea what lux range your plants get to get these colors? Or do you have the link of what lights you use, how many, how far from the plants and how many hours?
I use these, I have 4 above my succulents, with the shielding removed, from about 4-8 inches above the plants depending on how tall they are. They stay on about 12 hours a day.
This is the single pack of the lights I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT32PW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YF9S6E8NFYJ7XHXQMJH1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Let me know if you need a 2 pack or a larger pack.
Wow this is incredible what you are growing with little space and energy usage!
Are you able to post links to the specific lights you use?
I have this light

but my spider plant lost her stripes so Im thinking she needs more light.
Thanks!
It's Amazon, but I bought 2 packs of [these](Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_XZWW12SKDVS63RV1SGQ1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) for my garage. And there isn't a shadow to be seen.
Sure, I have these: Kihung LED T5 Integrated Light... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086X1VYJX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There are 4 of them above this shelf. I also have 4 of them on the shelf below, which are closer to that shelf because those are my succulents and they need more light. I love them, easy to use and setup. They are zip tied to the shelf. This set comes with so many cords and switches you can arrange it many ways. I have each shelf set on its own on/off switch. They do make different sizes if you don't need the 3ft long ones.
Use these. I’ve installed them in my garage, storage room and laundry room. Stupid easy to install, and turn any space into a tanning bed. They’re relatively inexpensive and don’t use much electricity.
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EQ5A73YPR1RMBE7E8DWX
In this photo it’s cheaper LEDS. If money is no object these aren’t really great compared to purpose built led grow lights but they’ll do the trick on a budget and give you a large “footprint” to work with due to sheer volume of lights in the box. I’d never suggest using these for flowering phase of plants but for basic veg state they’re okay.
Even cheap lights will do (the link is for 12, there are way cheaper options).
That said they look pretty happy. If you can add some lights and a fan do so but you’re doing a great job as it stands!
I went with this one super bright! I’m thinking about getting a second one because you can link them together. We use hue lights in our house so I wanted to be able to use a hue plug for the motion sensor.
I put 9 of these in my 2.5 car garage last year, replacing what was previously two clf bulbs. They've been great so far and having the light sources spread over the entire ceiling prevents shadows when standing over a workpiece.
Recently installed 12 of these lights: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B4MH679?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details in garage that measures aboot 14'x21'. The garage is very bright. Note these are two sided projecting down at an angle with a reflector on the top.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?psc=1&smid=A1V31LM9AH9FRH&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp
I literally can't say enough about these lights! I have 2 wire racks with 12 of these lights for my seedlings. They come in just under $50 if you have prime.
I had something like these lights in mind. They have reflectors to help limit light spill however they are 4ft long.

As for floodlights... I'm thinking 4 or 5 lights that are 30 watts each. I remember some years back there was a person using 50 watt floodlights for a large and tall tank, it was a bit overkill.
So I just got these shop lights and shelf but wondering about placement and if I should do more. I got these lights from Amazon, (Pack of 8) Barrina LED T5... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNPL2VC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Should I add another bar to each shelf(16”D x 36”L) instead of just one and are the lights too close to my succulents. I wouldn’t want to burn them. Any advice will help! Thanks!
Get some T5 LED tubes. Your wire shelf is perfect for attaching them with zip toes. They dont heat uo and are SUPER bright. I have a 4×8 grow tent with two large wire shelves and one large wire shelf with a humidity cover.
This brand is super, they make 2ft tubes as well. The ones below are the ones I have, and my plants don't know winter ever came 😊.

I never had a good experience with 100w replacement led (13w+)
it always burns out. looks like you will have better experience with led fixture.
something like this
I have something similar to this, see below amazon link. I'm using 14 sections in a 760 sq. ft. 3 car garage. Mine have shorter 6" wire links, where the ones below has 20". 20" is too long IMO. I installed them along the ceiling joists.

Very cool, what country? And my experience with these affordable light's has been great. I have them on a shelf. In case you don't already know the grow light's specifically for growing or that are "full spectrum" can be pricey and are needed for fruiting plants. Such as tomatoes and peppers. I have started tomatoes and peppers under these lights, but when the flower forms I have transplanted them outside as I've always read that these kind of light's wont allow the fruit to develop properly. But it's 45.99 US dollars for 24 ft. of energy efficient LED light in total. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HBT3BVM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got [these on Amazon](www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W9NFQ59G3WBZA4PTFW26) and I can’t recommend them enough. I used a screw in plug/socket on the 2 existing lights in my garage and the difference is amazing.
You don't really need much lighting for lettuce and can get away with just using shop lights. Something like this would work fine it can be linked together for a 8ft run, 3 row of lights.

The lights you are using are overkill - they are too bright, too many watts, and keeping them enclosed on top of that is making it too hot. Most microgreens only need a little light once they’re a couple inches tall and then you take the cover off and the light just greens them up over the next few days. (Some of them don’t even require anything but the daylight they receive once you take the top off., that’s how little light they need). I use these. There are 8 in the pack so they’re only about $6.50 each.
I have used these quite a few times. They're fantastic. Easy to install, super light weight, great light output for the price. However, they emit a frequency that can block you garage door opener signal when they're on. It's not a huge problem for me, but I know that it bothers others.
Awesome! I’d recommend getting some shop lighting. I put these in my garage, and they are awesome!
I scorched a bunch to and did some looking. tried some of the grow lights on amazon like the small spider famer ones. But in the end im doing fine with the basic non grow lights, like these, 3 per shelf worked fine.
You really don't need any special lights and most LED or fluorescents will work fine. Here are my various lights - even some old fish tank purples.
Grow lights, fam. I use these T5 LED shop lights from Amazon.
They weigh almost nothing, you can prop them upright in corners or mount them to a wall with basically just double sided sticky tape or a small hook. Plants do so much better with the extra lumens in the winter. Plus the extra light helps keep you from getting depressed, too.
For even less daily fuss you can plug them into a cheap timer. Those are available all over the place this time of year for xmas lights etc.
I was looking at these that came recommended by the succulent subreddit mods:

Mine is very much a hobby workshop, not professional at all. That being said:
Good luck and have fun!
Nope not the original. Originally it was just 3 separate sockets with 1 light bulb in each. Here is a link to what I used - (Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3T0TGYFEV2K11PADFH6C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Overhead garage lights are T5 led shop lights arranged into two pentagons. Each set is hardwired from where there used to be a single light bulb. Barrina shop lights
The black lights are the same brand but shorter. T5 Black lights
10 Pack LED Shop Light 4FT, T5... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XJXPWFL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share these are the ones I use. I have 3 of them propped up on textbooks shining over all my plants. Gotta keep them pretty close tho maybe like 3-8 inches away from the plant depending on each plants lighting needs. I keep them like 7 inches away from the moonstones
These daisy chain together and have a switch on the plug

You could use vertical led bars the length of your tower. Mirrors might help too.

I just went through this. The biggest thing I learned was how many lumens (how much brightness) I needed. For a 1.5 car garage space with high ceilings and (dark) barn wood walls, I found that 12 LED strips each 48" long and about 2000 lumens each was enough.
I used these ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNPL2VC/ I rolled the dice and got them used. No issues.
I don’t have any sort of meter to find that. They are 6500k 2200 lumen shop lights. I am going to set up a mirror of this shelf for winter and am considering if some of my plants like the haworthia should only have 2 lights per shelf. The distance from the lights matters too.

If you wanted something even easier, buy a bulb to outlet converter and install these. They provide a lot of light, if not enough, keep adding more.
Seconded. I've had good luck with cheap "T5" LED tubes (5000K) from Amazon like these. Note those are only 4000K so they'll be a bit 'warmer' light wise - I'd try to find some well-reviewed 5000K ones for shop use, that should yield a nice neutral white to the human eye.

I bought them specifically for the top of the bench. I 3D printed brackets to hang them from the OmniWall shelves.
After I put the cabinets in, I was cleaning up and realized that I had four more of those lights, and they all can daisy chain. Took all of 5 minutes to add those lights under the bench to light the drawers.
It does an awesome job.
Then a single bulb 4' fluorescent fixture would be ideal. Look for 5500-6500 Kelvins for temperature. I know there is a Lumen requirement but I can't remember what it is. 2200, I think?
I am only familiar with fluorescent though, not LED, so I don't know the options in those. I'm sure they make 4' fixtures in those as well. Maybe something like this? Again, I'm not an expert. https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Utility-electric/dp/B01HBT32PW/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=led+grow+light+fixture+4+foot+long&qid=1627276021&s=hi&sr=1-5
Not the OP, but probably these. There are lots of brands and the differences between them are negligible. I've used a couple different kinds and anything along these lines will be fine. https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Utility-Electric/dp/B01HBT3BVM
