I use this and it brought its color back, plus I use it on other plastic black area like steps, and bumpers. Definitely recommend friend
Probably more hassle than it's worth to get them on my car... Maybe I'll look into it. What kinda oil leaks you got? If you don't have some already, Meguiar's Ultimate Black makes the plastic trim look brand new. 10/10. Peanut butter works well, too.
Def look i to sum black panel cleaner to clean up the black trim around the car:) i use this MEGUIAR'S G15812 Plastic Restorer Black 12 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055PD1H4/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_1NZWN3QG5210F7SHBEJF
Makes a world of difference beauty otherwise
Boom. The black plastic fenders that Toyota loves just get sun faded. I rub this in like every 3-4 months and it stays looking black and shiny.
I bought and used this over the weekend for window trim and the black body trim and it worked like a gem:

Recommend using one of those small circular microfiber pads.
Is it permanent? I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055PD1H4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Which is super easy and looks great, but only lasts about a month.
Also, how hard is it to install? And is the 12oz enough for the sails and the bed protector things?
Plastic Restore will be your friend! I use it on my 2012 and it does a great job of bringing the plastic bits back to life and looking nice.
Two or three coats of this stuff keeps it an inky black, I need to throw another coat on at some point because it's a touch faded but I've gotten around eight months out of it so I'm pleased overall
Thanks! The rubber and trim is all NLA— I'll look into what plasti-dipping it would take. I also need to take the roof rack down, remove all the chipping paint (what's left if it, anyway), and then re-paint it. Have you used Meguiar's Black Plastic Restorer?
For power washing, am I doing it right? Can I use more pressure? Just looking for some guidance, since I'm just doing what seems mostly right without much knowledge of if it really is right.
I'd try something like this since it's cheap https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G15812-Ultimate-Plastic-Restorer/dp/B0055PD1H4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1535728502&sr=8-2&keywords=ultimate+black+plastic+restorer&dpID=41KLHphaXqL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch Ive used it on car parts and works well, doesn't last a real long time but then again the parts are exposed to the elements Day in and out.
You can use this to make the trim pop.

Have you tried this? I was looking at it and reading the reviews and it seems good.
So I bought this black plastic restorer from amazon, and I used it on my car and my mom's car to see if it worked, I thought I took pictures of mine but I can't find it, but it looks and works pretty good, just used a towel and wiped it down
This stuff. Meguiar's Plastic Restorer Ultimate Black. It's magic.
Try some black plastic restorer, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Ultimate-Black-Restorer-Protect/dp/B0055PD1H4
this is on my jeep right nowMeguiars Back to Black
thanks, i picked this up and it worked well!
are they plastic? I ended up using this and it worked well
Congrats!!
Never used back to black but I’ve used this. My bumper trim isn’t as faded as yours but it does the trick. I reapply it after every couple washes or so
I second this, darken the sails and boxes.
Meguiars Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer works wonders!

This worked well bringing my gray and splotchy top back to black
In the video I posted in the comments, ChrisFix recommends covering the engine with a garbage bag while you hose down the hood and around the engine. Use a gentle settings on the water so you don't force water up into any electrical connections. I didn't bother disconnecting the battery.
Asides from that, just have a soapy water bottle in one hand and a detail brush in the other. Check out the video, it's really good and has links to the cleaners and tools that he recommends. The deep black on the plastic parts is from Maguire's Plastic Restorer:

I've used it for the trim on my 1st gen and it works very well.

Works on my 99 slk black trim etc.....
Sure!
I combined procedures from these two videos: Honda Civic Engine Bay Wash DIY and How to Super Clean Your Engine Bay
Step 1: Disconnect and completely remove the battery from the engine bay. Remove the battery plastic pieces from the bay also.
Step 2: Sometimes the engine has a cover for the spark plugs. My 2012 Civic did, so I removed the cover and set it aside.
Step 3: With a shop vac, air compressor or leaf blower, blow air into the engine bay to get rid of dust.
Step 4: As seen in the Civic Engine Bay cleaning video, use foil to cover the alternator, spark plug coils, MAF sensor, EGR connector, O2 Sensor, ECU, and any other electrical connections that are exposed.
Step 5: Spray down the engine bay with a light shower of water.
Step 6: Use Tub-O-Towels to wipe down all surfaces of the engine bay.
Step 7: For the hood, I used Meguiars car wash because I didn't want to damage the paint with any degreasers. I tried not to drop any Megs into the engine bay.
Step 8: Rinse the hood first, then the engine bay.
Step 9 (optional depending on how dirty your engine bay is): Spray down engine bay with a bottle that has a few drops of dish soap and the rest filled with water. Use a round brush to agitate the soap in areas where needed.
Step 10: Rinse down engine bay again.
Step 11: Use that shop vac, leaf blower, or air compressor to dry the engine bay down. Take your time and try to get it as dry as possible. Then use some microfiber towels to hand dry.
Step 12: As seen in ChrisFix's video, use Meguiar's Ultimate Black on all rubber hoses and plastic. This stuff is liquid gold. Just use any paint brush to apply it then take a micro fiber towel and wipe it off.
Step 13: Clean the battery holder plastic and engine cover pieces using the same steps as engine bay.
Step 14: I let my car sit in the sun with the hood open for a couple hours so it can fully dry. After this, just reinstall the battery and engine cover and you're done!
If worried about the trying the heatgun option (which does work, see vids on youtube), you might start with Meguiar's Ultimate Black or Mother's Back to Black.
I've had a lot of luck with this on some old golf cart plastic trim. It is a dye though, tape around it and grab some gloves. Be careful.
Thisis easier to find and easier to work with.
There's a great (inkfor trim reviews on the wiki. He has a 6 month update on all products there as well.
