Used Meguiar's Wax with my orbital applicator.
yes you need to wax it but you need to do it when the car is not hot to the touch
I would also get one of those reflective window shields and cut it the size of your dash board to protect the vinyl and plastic on the top.. you can take it off when you are driving.
if you don't wax it you are going to have early failure of the clear coat.

carnauba wax is the best for your car.. some people like synthetic because its super easy to work with and no buffing.. but yellow carnauba wax has a much longer proven ability to protect your finish.
I would also get use to applying tire protectant on your tires out there as they will dry very quickly in that sun..
best bet for you is to get your car out of the sun as much as possible.
