Those stretches help and some compression sleeves should help too. [link]
Also getting good shoes to run in will help. Did all three and it has made a world of difference.
Cool. Just by doing those exercises a few times a day, icing my shins, and wearing compression sleeves I was able to get past the pain quickly. It was also Plyo Cardio Circuit that really killed my shins, as well as another specific workout which I can't remember off the top of my head. These are the compression sleeves I got. They aren't too pricey and have held up great after a year of abuse and going through the washer/dryer a billion times.
I haven't bought new shoes, but I did buy these. They feel great on, and the product got good reviews, so I'm optimistic that they'll help, but I haven't tried them out yet because I'm giving my shins a bit more time to heal before I get back into things.
Hope you find a solution to your problem!
Ive used these and they do seem to help hold off cramping during ultimate frisbee and reduce soreness during long runs.
