Yes! 2017 Pro will work in older Pro 3 Dock.
There is an adapter plate to help the fitment a little better, but in my experience is isn't needed 100%, but definitely a good idea. Also, no idea why its $50 on Amazon, Microsoft was giving them away when SP4 was introduced.

I use this dock along with the free adapter insert that transforms it into an SP4 dock. Works great!
*Edit- Wow, not sure what DB's are selling these free sleeves on Amazon, but that's just wrong...
*Edit 2- wrong dock. I'm talking about the SP3 dock, not Surface 3. I just love MSFT's product naming logic....
