It looks real to me. The only thing that looks weird is that the thumbstick nubs aren't aligned properly, see the photo here for how they should look:

I didn't think it was possible for the thumbstick caps to get put on skewed like that. Seems like at minimum someone took the controller apart and put it back together again. Maybe they also replaced the thumbsticks?
I got one this morning here for $15.99. They're out of stock now, and the price has gone up, but you can get some good deals on official Microsoft controllers from Amazon if you're willing to go wired.
It's amazing with a friend or two, when one of you screws up it's always hilarious because they've done the same thing a million times before and STILL give you shit for it.
Glad you like it!
As for the controller, by wired I mean hardwired, old school style. I use one of these: Amazon - 360 Wired Controller
Good investment for a lot of steam games. They also I think sell USB bluetooth dongles so you can use your wireless pad as well but I never looked into that since I've got this one. And the cord is like nine years long. Well, nine feet, but that's PLENTY long enough.
Well yeah just a normal USB xbox controller I use. I think it has to be USB tho, not wireless. Just something like this is fine http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wired-Controller/dp/B003ZSN600 but I wouldn't buy that exact one because there's probably cheaper
Hmm, good point. Seems in-stock and sold directly by Amazon still, though I do kind of wonder why.
I guess I just underestimate the costs of a legal review and source release, and would consider the shortfall in sales to be offset by future purchases by happy customers. It's a tad unrealistic I suppose.
Agreed, in regards to Valve... I'm a Linux desktop gamer myself and have been cautiously optimistic about how things are going. It's frustrating... I'm kind of excited, while at the same time I feel as though they're maybe going to screw up and blow it completely.
Bam. I just bought this one a few days ago. It works beautifully. It will not auto install, you have to google the drivers, but it's very easy to do, and it'll save you a few bucks over the one with the drivers preloaded. Played Shank, Beat Hazard, Bastion, Jamestown, etc., controller works great, and was autodetected every time.
Some games are just played with a controller. This will work on your PC. Great for so many games (I.e Assassins Creed, Batman, any racing game).
Amazon sells a black wired controller for $29.96. I would rather spend a little more for a new controller instead of buying a used, greasy one.
Buy one of these. Super Meat Boy plays a lot better on it and it's compatible with lots of other games like the Assassin's Creed series and Arkham Asylum. Easily worth the purchase.
How it goes with the xbox 360 controllers, is that there is only two ways of connecting to the PC:
1.) Directly connected with a controller with the cable built in, not any of the controllers with batteries or battery packs. The Play and Charge cable is only for charging your controller(s)' and/or playing directly connected to a xbox360. But not supported for PC play.
2.) A specific wireless dongle that will allow your wireless controllers to connect wirelessly to your computer.
The links are only to Amazon, and there will definitely be better deals to be found. Hopefully this helps out. Good Luck, Have Fun.
Xbox 360 wireless controllers don't work that way. The USB port on them are strictly for charging, and not for linking to a console/PC. (Yeah, pretty dumb.) To get a X360 controller to work on PC you need either a real wired controller, or buy the wireless dongle for your PC.
The Xbox One Wireless controllers DO work on PC, by simply plugging a USB cable in.
Do you have a preference for Playstation or Xbox controllers?
Xbox one wired or wireless adapter
Its up to $23 now, but it says its microsoft.
Yeah, maybe you should look for a cheap wired Xbox360.
Edit: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wired-Controller/dp/B003ZSN600 $28 and official so it should last a while

Try Gamestop, they have their own brand for cheap usually.
For the wireless controller? I'm not sure. Maybe? I use a wired controller and it connects through USB.
Alternatively you could buy the wired one for about 20 dollars less.
Overpriced? Amazon is selling the black ones for $30.
Thanks for saving me some money. I hadn't considered the wired version before.
I think i'll just end up getting this one
It says it's compatible with Vista, so it should be good with Win7. Plus the reviews by people using on PC are favorable.
sorry fr the late reply. Will this work? it says most windows 7 PC's I bought the dngle and apparently its not compatible with windows 8
