Cosleeping just seems dangerous. A few months ago my husband's cousin woke up to two screaming parents in the next apartment over. Apparently the wife got up for work and the husband rolled over in bed. He ended up suffocating their baby. Such a tragedy that could have been prevented.
We are planning to use something like this: Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LtRMDb7DQA4PS
We used a Mika Mickey bassinet from Amazon. It's rated for 33lbs and size wise is quite a bit larger than most others. We too have a large baby and only stopped using it once my wife had recovered enough from the c section to lift him out of the crib. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_XJCQ3WPDFJ2BDC3Q5ZEM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You could try a bedside sleeper - it connects to the bed but isn’t in the bed. We used the Mika Mickey and loved it. It’s big too so baby can stay longer than most bassinet, my son stayed until he was 6 months then moved to crib in nursery.
this is the one I used. hopefully I linked that correctly. It has an adjustable height, can be lashed to the bed frame, and the legs are offset so you can get it right up next to the bed. I really liked it.

This is what I used for my first and I loved it.
Yess! I haven’t gotten it yet so I can’t speak to it but my best friend in another state just bought it for her 7 week old and LOVES it! https://www.amazon.com/Mika-Micky-Bedside-Sleeper-Portable/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=3C12TIYK64XCJ&keywords=mika+micky+bedside+sleeper&qid=1643660907&sprefix=mika%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVk...
What are your thoughts on a bedside sleeper? Like this? I was wondering if it seems realistic to think I can breastfeed while the baby is in the bedside sleeper?
We used a Mika Micky bassinet side-carred to the bed. I have also read of people using a Moses basket or something similar to get baby used to being on the floorbed without being totally exposed at first.
We used this one. It worked great for us, we even took with us on vacation because it packs up easily and isn’t huge. We used till 5ish months, it says safe till 33 pounds, 5 months, or when they pull into sitting. We loved it and will use with baby #2.
We got the Mika Micky - love it. Sturdy, height adjustable, easy to put together and move.
We were originally just going to use our pack and play with bassinet insert but then we ended up getting this as a gift. We’ll transition babe to sleeping in the pack and play once they reach the max height or weight for this!
I think I’m going with this one.. I like the wheels since I think I’ll be spending a lot of time with him in the living room.

Don’t know about that one but we’ve used one similar. It’s worked great for us. Close, and the wheels lock. No issues and she’s almost 3 months.

This is what we used and I loved it. The side zips down so you can pull it right next to your bed and easily reach in to baby. When she was a little older and we weren’t quite ready to transition her to her crib we zipped up the side and moved her a little further from our bed but liked having her close by.
I had this one from Micka Micky and it was PERFECT! At some point I would just roll it around the house with baby inside. I was a teeny bit wary about the tiny strip of fabric on the sides that wasn’t mesh though. You can also attach it to the side of your bed but I don’t think it’s considered safe sleeping.
We also had the Fisher price soothing motions bassinet and that was okay too. You can rock it a little bit to help baby go to sleep and it vibrates. The Snoo always looked like it was rocking babies a little too rough for my taste and the price is definitely not great. You can get a 30% off discount if you’re a physician, nurse, or military though. I would say once they’re maybe 5/6 months you have to move to a crib anyway.

I’m getting a bedside bassinet. All my friends have said that I’ll want baby close by at night, especially in the first few weeks and months and judging by how much I hate having to make the short trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I can’t help but agree.
I’m not investing in anything too, too pricey but will probably spend ~ $150 on a nice bedside co-sleeper style bassinet like this Mika Micky since it can also be wheeled around the apartment during the day.
My bed is on the ground, I also have a slim box spring so this was actually perfect for us. I was able to just sit up/ reach down and get her instead of actually completely getting up. If you have a King this would fit in the bed between you and your SO. They have other similar versions for bed side with adjustable height, of course more spendy. This made sense for us.
The most convenient part was having her right next to me, with out co-sleeping, and not having to actually get up/out of bed. Babies wake up every 2 hrs to eat, that’s a lot of getting up at night. The other thing if you plan on using a pacifier newborns suck at keeping them in so, it was nice to just reach down to put it back in a comfort her.
I use this until my baby could push her self up/got to long, then we switched to a crib, she was also sleeping longer stretches at night at that point so I didn’t mind. Would be worth checking for second hand bed side cribs. At minimum plan to have your baby close to your bed and not across the room, atleast for the first week.

We have a pretty tall bed at 33 inches and use this one Mika Micky Bedside
The one side that opens, the mattress height is exactly in line with our bed height.
Not every baby hates the bassinet- mine prefers to sleep on me (of course) but if I put her down in deep sleep at night she will stay asleep. I have an "in bed" co-sleeper which I put a board under to be on a hard surface which has been great. I didn't have the space for a bedside bed bassinet and no partner sharing the bed so this was better than one of those.
It's the Mika Micky bedside sleeper. I love it! Rolled it all around my house in the first couple months.
I LOVED THIS one for both of our daughters:
I loved how light and easily moveable it was. I ordered 3 fitted sheets for it after one night with our first where I was doing laundry at 2 am.
I'm about to sell mine, and it makes me sad. If we end up deciding to have a third, I am 100% getting this again.
This is the bassinet I have, no complaints. It's super highly rated and not outrageously priced.
Recommend a sidecar if you have enough room in your bedroom. Safety + convenience. Examples https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J232RV4/
This isI’m thinking about. It has height adjustment. I also have a low profile bed ☺️
That looks very similar to the Mika Micky bedside sleeper that we were gifted.
Here are the sheets we ordered.
I just found this bassinet/cosleeper online n I like that it looks easier for breastfeeding, can be packed up for travel, and is on wheels so can be moved into another room if I want: https://www.amazon.com/Mika-Micky-Bedside-Sleeper-Portable/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=bedside+cosleeper&qid=1556010314&s=gateway&sr=8-2
