I’m going to be real with you. I’ve been close to where you are before. 120 pounds in seven months is going to be hard. Even 120 pounds in a year would be hard, so if you don’t hit your goal in your time frame don’t get discouraged. You have a very achievable goal and you’re gonna crush this shit bro.
As for food, I would recommend downloading MyFitnessPal to help track calories. You can literally scan a bar code on whatever you eat and it’ll count those calories. You’ll want to be in a calorie deficit. TDEECalculator.net will tell you what your appropriate calorie intake is.
Along with a calorie deficit, some people also do intermittent fasting, where you only eat within a certain time frame during the day. I cannot attest to if it helps or not because I’ve had trouble sticking to it with my work schedule but some people say it works.
Personally I would try to cut out any drinks besides water. People often don’t think about calories that they are drinking. If it’s hard to cut out soda or any other drink with calories, just try to limit them and it’ll help in the long run. Robert Irving has a healthy food cookbook on Amazon that’s $13 right now. I would recommend that because I personally have it and it’s worked great for me. As for workouts, If you are an absolute beginner I would recommend finding a workout plan with videos. This one from Mens Health can help you burn fat and build muscles and it has videos with it: https://www.menshealth.com/uk/building-muscle/a745472/burn-fat-build-muscle-145158/. Personally I would recommend looking around and find what works best for you. Also, most “Bro Lifters” don’t do cardio, do some cardio. Even 15-30 minutes on a stationary bike can help you jumpstart a workout.
I think the BUFF Dudes on YouTube are very good and educational if you want additional resources. They remind me of like Bill Nye videos but for working out. They have good and entertaining/ funny videos about dieting and workouts you may want to check out. They also have videos on how to eat healthy for cheap depending on how much money you want to spend on food. https://youtube.com/c/BuffDudesOfficial
Also, DONT CHECK YOUR WEIGHT EVERY DAY. Weight fluctuates and honestly, focusing on a scale every day is not good for your mental health. Go out there, try to better yourself, and the results will come my dude.
