Shameless plug, buy a pair of earplugs like this. They are easy to carry, and help dampen the ridiculously loud sounds. I keep them on my keys, and use them almost everywhere I go. Movies, Bars, Concerts, hell even at conventions.
Not even an affiliate link or anything either. Just trying to spread the word.
Congrats on the new computers. You might want to air blower to clean your and your brother's computers every so often, especially since you have a pet. Having dust and pet fur in a computers can slow it down. I would recommend this. Other computer enthusiasts might know of better computer cleaners.
Thanks for all the great art!
As a side note, if you go to conerts/festivals or any place with loud music, I absolutely cannot recommend how important it is to protect your ears. I use these and it doesn't hinder the experince at all, there are other similar types, but this is the one I got recommend over 5 years ago, and they work great. It actually improves the experience IMO, some places have such loud music, you end up leaving with some really weird headspace thing going on and it can be hard to hear for the next few hours. They don't mask the sound of the music, it just reduces the amount of decibels your ears take in, which is one of the ways your hearing can be damaged. You can talk to a person normally and hear them just fine, you don't have to take them out to have a conversation. I hope this helps even one person, hearing loss is no joke and it's so easy to protect yourself. It's on a similar level to me as how important sunscreen is during extended periods of being in the sun.
> The website also has a great team of admins and moderators, with one year’s April Fools’ joke resulting in converting all prices in deal titles to its worth in Eneloops (very popular but very expensive rechargeable batteries).
I think of them as money too. Or ammo. Get these ones:
Get this package first to get the highest quality charger on the market:
You need that charger to get the full life out of Eneloops. If you take care of them, Eneloops will last at least a decade, maybe longer.
Living with roommates sucks, especially roommates with very different class/work/sleep schedules. Everyone suggesting 9-10 pm quiet time needs to get out of their morning person bubble. Everyone else suggesting that OP go out every time they want to have a chill conversation with friends is also being unrealistic. For one, that's going to get really expensive. For another, OP has a right to use the living room they pay to rent, which is equally as strong as Roommate's right to sleep, so they must find a way to balance these rights.
I say this as a very, very light sleeper. In a decade and a half of living with roommates, I have never come to a point of not being able to work it out, nor come to a point of putting my foot down and telling a roommate they couldn't use the living room at conversational volumes whenever I was sleeping.
OP - maybe in the politest way possible, you can help your roommate explore some techniques to sleep better. White noise machine or fan, blackout curtains, eye mask, ear plugs. I would again politely encourage your roommate to at least try ear plugs for a week. I recommend the Mack's 32 dB - they are small and squishy enough to comfortably sleep on even for a side sleeper (33 dB are quite a bit bigger) and you can still hear a nearby alarm through them, though they block out background noise. Here is an Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051U7W32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_99exDbNDEE7RA
PSA: DO NOT buy the play n charge kit, get eneloop batteries instead (these are great and only $16 on Amazon). Eneloops are cheaper, you get 4 of them, you can use them for anything, and most importantly they hold a charge longer and don't lose half their capacity in a couple of months.
I use Etymotics and love them. Inexpensive, and pretty discreet. The other day I was at a small but loud show and with these in, I was able to tell a guitar was out of tune. With them out, all I heard was a wall of noise.
One day my wife asked my why the fuck I was looking at a 50 gallons of lube after I clicked on it because someone blind linked to it on reddit.
Etymotic ER20s. $20 on Amazon..
Have a pair, highly recommend.
> This is for a simple analog wall clock, so I’ll go out and get AAs once it starts to get out of time.
Get rechargeable AA batteries next time. I recommend you get these ones (make sure your battery specifications match the packaging in this photo):

I live near a fairly major city street where a motorcycle shop moved in. These things, and a white noise generator, have been lifesavers. (At least for me, it was the relative quiet to 90Db motorcycle engine with a radio that would wake me up. This combination dulls it.)
You really asked for a link after he gave you the retailer’s name, the product manufacturer, the model number and the price?? REALLY?

Imma go ahead and be the old man that I am - Earplugs! Don't fuck up your hearing - you never get it back. I love the bass and loudness as much as anyone, but don't be dumb - tinnitus is no joke. pack something like these so you don't lose fidelity, just volume - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044DEESS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1
These are the ones I have, can recommend. Comfy and they keep a decent sound quality. Have never had my ears hurt/ring like the did at Saint Pablo since wearing them.
Get these ear plugs. Should lower the volume down a tad and you can enjoy the movie without your ear drums bursting.
Yeah I have a similar pair that I will take when I’m going to a show or if I know i will be at a bar with loud music. My ears hurt too much with all of the sharp sounds at shows and my tinnitus has gotten worse as a result of years of metal/rock shows.
I love mine, the do a great job and I think the make the music sound better!
Get yourself a good pair of audiophile earplugs, you wont want to break the seal because they actually make most concerts sound better.
The Etymotic earplugs are tuned to let in a natural sounding frequency curve and will smooth out the harsh peaks that a lot of concert halls have.
Amazon Link. Not trying to shill the product or anything, but it's import to keep our build's clean and this is a necessary tool.
For an off the shelf ear plug, I've used Etymotic Research ER-20's for a long time. I keep a pair in my gig bag/case.
If you have the money, invest in a set of custom molded ear plugs. The sound difference is significant.
The problem isn't thermal paste, it's that people don't regularly maintain their devices and/or don't place their consoles somewhere with proper ventilation. My PS4 is 4 years old and runs dead silent because after one year (once it was out of warranty), I routinely (every 4-6 months) open my PS4 and dust out the inside with my electric duster (https://www.amazon.com/Metro-ED500-DataVac-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW). I blast the fan, power supply, all the vents, and loosen any hardened dust with a soft paintbrush.
My PS4 runs quiet no matter what I'm playing. Same applies for my PS3, which is going to be 9 years old this year and still runs cool.
This is why I always bring ear plugs to Disney parks. And if I forget, my first stop is always the medical office to pick up a pair of disposable ones. It really does make most rides more enjoyable (I'm constantly amazed at how ear-piercingly loud most rides are, especially given that so many children ride them).
As a former sound engineer at a punk venue, earplugs are invaluable down the road for saving your hearing with age. Get yourself a ncie pair like these and you'll hardly notice you're wearing them after 5 minutes or so.
My father has basically lost hearing in his left ear from going to punk shows in the 80s. Earplugs are a huge deal, especially considering how fucking loud everything is these days.
Assuming you are referring to 9V batteries like these, that will actually be a downgrade from normal AA cells, as 9 V batteries are actually a 6 pack of AAAA batteries.
While the voltage sound like it would be higher, AAAA are even worse than AA cells at delivering current, which is what is responsible for spinning motors up to speed. Thus, the motors will spin up even slower, and the voltage will sag massively.

If you intend to run that extra foot of Faux barrel, you'll pretty much need to rewire for a lipo or NiMH pack to get any reasonable performance.
If you are just looking for a no-effort mod, Eneloops are the safest way to do so. Their much higher current capabilities mean that they'll outperform even D alkaline cells, which are what Hasbro use to power their more powerful blasters, and they're pretty inexpensive to boot
I no longer travel without foam earplugs. They have got me to sleep in environments where I could not without them. Screaming weans....no problems. "Naaaaa naaa naaa naaa" hen party groups....blocked. Groups of wee dicks drinking buckfast....ignored.
I have them in every bag I am likely to travel with including my laptop bag and holdall.
I buy these fuckers in bulk... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Macks-Ultra-Ear-Plugs-Pair/dp/B0051U7W32/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=mack+earplugs&qid=1562693184&s=gateway&sr=8-4
Seriously this is good advice in the short term.
I snore like a freight train. My partner wears these earplugs every night for about 10 years now and has not had one problem with ear infections or my snoring. I am a very big dude, I can apparently make a lot of noise while snoring and now my partner enjoys uninterrupted sleep.
I also wear these earplugs when travelling. No other earplugs come close to the quiet. One evening a car was set on fire not 20 feet from my hotel window. Fire engines, with sirens etc. Apparently the owner was running around screaming in his underwear. I slept through the entire spectacle thanks to these babies.
Your story sucks. I feel sorry for you and those dugs.
The screaming is the most intense I've ever heard in my life.
I have this pair of musician ear plugs that I wear to all the concerts I go to and even though they're really basic they're still great at drowning out the screams while preserving the quality of the music.
I think I honestly would have been really sad without them because when I took them out for a minute I literally could barely hear the music over the screaming in my section.
It sounds like he's a great tenant other than the occasional noise at night.
You want an easy solution?
I'm completely serious. My wife snores and likes to watch TV late in bed, but I can put earplugs in and I sleep like a baby.
This really could be a problem with an $8.99 solution.
I'm a 40 year old with very present tinnitus (years of punk and rock concerts and playing in bands, DnB and Techno raves/club nights, a decade working in a wood shop around loud, high pitched machinery, and more recently dnb/techno production). There are a few things that have helped me out.
Always be conscious of your listening volume. For me this means finding the volume I instinctively want to listen to things at then rolling back a few notches. I also use an SPL meter on my phone occasionally to test my listening position but I don't consider it accurate.
It doesn't take long for the turned down listening volume to sound normal/pleasing, but it does take some time to get used to being conscious of how loud I want vs what is safe.
This is the only magic bullet in my suggestions, the rest are just things that I do to help. Control your volume!
Ear protection when I'm gigging or at shows. I have a couple sets of these guys that I keep in my gig bags and other places that are easy to remember when I'm going to a show. They're reasonably priced and don't make everything sound like shit
This one won't be popular, but I keep a neutral always-on EQ on my 2bus when producing/arranging. Currently I have a 6db LP filter rolling off everything above 18kHz pretty much all the time. I only turn it off when I move to mix/master, and as the final stage during sound design (I specifically plan to treat the top end last, and when the eq gets turned off, the volume gets turned down). I've tried a few different things (setting the LP higher/lower, using a dynamic shelf on everything above 15kHz, etc), but the 18k filter works best for me
Finally, I recently switched from closed back cans to open back and it's made a huge difference. My ears are less fatigued so I don't get into the trap of constantly turning things up during long sessions
If you're willing to accept permanent hearing damage just because you don't want to be teased then by all means go ahead, I would strongly advise against it but it's your choice at the end of the day. Who are the people who tease you? I was having way more fun at the show with hearing protection than the people without it, everyone around me was sitting still and recording with their phones like zombies. I could care less what those people think of me while I'm at a show for a band I love. On the topic of hearing loss, I listen to 1000+ hours of music per year and I'd like to keep doing so as I get older without having impaired hearing. Shows are very fun but the music quality is never as good as through a nice pair of speakers or headphones at safe listening volumes. Our ears aren't meant to hear things at concert volumes and there are tons of great hearing plugs made for concerts.
You ABSOLUTELY should wear earplugs. It is horrible advice and negligent to not take care of your ears at a rock show.
There are cheap options online that will save you from Tinnitus. I have custom earplugs, and have been to a few hundred shows, Phish being a majority, but the only way to have a lifetime of music enjoyment is to take care of your ears.
Take care of your shoes too.
Check these out, or go to an audiologist and get molded ones made. I had molded ones made about 4 years ago and they’re still going strong, and I use them fairly often as a live sound engineer. I have 15dB reduction, but if you are always that close for shows I’d go for 20dB reduction. Live music, especially Radiohead, is awesome, but early onset hearing loss is not. Get plugs so you can enjoy Radiohead for a long time to come.
Edit: Great spot btw!!
>I usually blast white noise into my headphone but it makes me tired and my ears are buzzing sometimes.
You need to stop doing this, as in right now, and never do it again at that volume, it sounds like you're giving yourself hearing damage. Never use headphones or earbuds to overpower outside noises.
If you want a quieter time working you could try using something like these. If you want to not be distracted then just listen to music at a reasonable volume and learn to not pay attention to those sounds because you will still hear them no matter what you use.
If those noises are so distracting they're limiting your ability to work or if your ears are sensitive to those sounds to that point, you should consult a doctor about it. But no matter what, stop trying to overpower the sound with headphones.
Ear plugs are a must for longer Yuma sessions. Improves some of that muddy sound AND protects you. like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Fidelity-Earplugs-ETY-Plugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS
PS: there was a secret bar in the yuma tent past the left side of the stage in a little tucked away area.
This is the pair I’ve been using. Only $14 and don’t really have any complaints. The only other ear plugs I’ve ever used were those foam insert ones which I think are worse than these. Plus these are reusable, just clean them with soapy water!
Anything is better than nothing
I use these:
Etymotic High-Fidelity Earplugs, ER20XS Standard Fit, 1 pair, Polybag Packaging https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RM6Q9XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bCQpCbQZFZP4Y
Inexpensive, effective. Comes with a small carrying case, multiple fittings, and a little neck cord
everyone, do yourself a major favor. these have changed the mf game for me. no muffle, just decibel reduction
I bounce between several, but can definitely recommend Doctor's Best. I have not noticed a difference between all of the top brands on amazon.
Vitamin D enchances the absorption of calcium, so if someone eats a fair amount of dairy or spinach they should be fine. Magnesium should be the one people need to look out for. It's one of the most important minerals that we don't get enough of, PLUS it works in synergy with vitamin D! If you regularly eat almonds (or pumpkin seeds), avocados, dark green leafy vegetables and legumes then you're probably fine. If not then I'd definitely recommend you start including them in your diet if possible, and if not you can supplement.
Another critical micronutrient would be K2, which helps direct calcium to your bones and teeth and prevent calcification of your arteries (big no no!). If you're thinking of supplementing Vitamin D3, you can find those two vitamins together. They are fat soluble so make sure you eat them with your nuts/seeds and avocados! :)
As already mentioned, magnesium citrate doesn't get absorbed by the body very well. If it gets into the colon, it acts as a laxative. This brand uses a different form of magnesium and has good reviews. You can even get it as a cream so your body absorbs it without worrying about it being in your digestive tract!
Look into magnesium rich foods as well. Dark chocolate and black beans are good ones! I get a really bad upset stomach/bloating with most magnesium supplements. I don't react if it's labeled as "magnesium (as aspartate)" but mostly I prefer to get it through food.
Ear-plugs - they're so important if you go to live concerts.
You only get one set of ears, which will never heal, so for the love of christ, protect them
I’ve got a set of customs from https://www.etymotic.com and absolutely love them. But they were a couple hundred bucks. They also have some clear generic fit musician ear plugs that are a little more discrete than the bright orange ones. Plus they’re cheap and reusable. $20 on Amazon
I'm glad you had a good time. As care for my fellow Vancouverite, I'd strongly recommend getting quality hearing protection if you want to keep enjoying shows in future (i.e. you want to be able to hear the shows in future).
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, get a quality pair of reusable earplugs off Amazon.
https://www.amazon.ca/Etymotic-Research-High-Fidelity-Earplugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS
https://www.amazon.ca/DownBeats-Reusable-Fidelity-Hearing-Protection/dp/B00A3Z44RM
If you're willing to spend a bit more, look into custom earplugs. Look for the models made for musicians.
I hate that your husband has this issue, how terrible! My partner and I bought these ear buds that allow you to go to live music and hear it clearly yet it’s not so loud. Maybe they could help?
Honestly this is the best solution I've found:
https://www.amazon.com/Metro-ED500-DataVac-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW
Price is usually around $55 on Amazon. That adds up to a few cases of compressed air, but you'll never have to use those cans again. Also worth mentioning it's super powerful (it blows air, does not work like a vacuum.)
Just my 2 cents, it's worth it IMO.
EDIT I bought this because it doesn't trap moisture inside like a real air compressor does in the tank / hose (especially in the more humid states.) I learned that lesson the hard way while using my garage air compressor on a custom PC. Fried the board.
Good on you! I am a big fan of Eargasm. Etymotics are cheaper and are also good, but my personal preference is for the Eargasms.
The TYPE of Magnesium you take is key. You want one that has TRAACS (The Real Amino Acid Chelate System), on the label since that's a proprietary way of binding it that does NOT give you diarrhea. (If you have to have a colonoscopy they literally give you magnesium to clean you out.) I use this one: https://smile.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Absorption-Magnesium-Glycinate/dp/B000BD0RT0/
> OMG I had no idea there was an AA master race. I am in.
Welcome to the AA Master Race :)
> I literally use them for everything as they are the finest power currency on the planet.
I agree! AA Eneloop NiMH batteries last so long, they're practically like money.
> Although at home I have a backup 12V 200Ah SLA backed system. That would require too many AAs!
If Elon Musk can power a car with little 18650's, you can get 200 amp hours at 12 volts with AA batteries.
In fact, I'm planning to gradually accumulate AA Eneloop NiMH batteries and build my own power system with it starting when I have 48 cells, with an eventual goal of 160 cells. 160 AA Eneloop NiMH cells would cost $341.70, and would last for 2100 charge cycles before the capacity starts to significantly reduce. They're not dead, they just have reduced capacity. They will hold their charge 10 years before you need to recharge them for another 10 years.
Lead acid batteries are good for only about 3 years before they need replacement, whether you use them or not.
Get these ones:
Get this package first to get the highest quality charger on the market:
You need that charger to get the full life out of Eneloops. If you take care of them, Eneloops will last at least a decade, maybe longer.
I've gone through something similar, it was during major depression. Honestly what helped was reducing inflammation within my body/brain.
I'd suggest trying lithium orotate as a first line of action along with fish oil, magnesium glycinate and maybe turmeric with a source of black pepper.
I don't know which supplements you've tried in the past but I don't think you've permanently damaged your body. Depression can deplete and drain you completely especially any creative and positive thoughts. Start meditating even for a few minutes a day. Well-being is fostered not only with a good diet but a good mindset, there could be a lot of things draining you emotionally and physically you just need to figure out what those things are and try to correct them.
I hope you feel better soon, as someone who's been in your shoes it does get better.
Wellll... the right earplugs don't diminish the quality. If you go get those foam hunting ones its going to muffle everything. What you want are these musicians earplugs.
They will bring the sound down by 20db while keeping the fidelity. These are my faves, Etymotics, been using them for years. But if you want to see other options, just search musicians ear plugs on Amazon to see all the brands.
There are PC blowers around $50-75 on Amazon that do a great job. Metro Datavac ED500 is the one I've used for 3 years now. Not a single issue. Just clean out the filter in the bottom and re-install after x-amount of time. Have not had to buy a new filter.
Keep from damaging fans by using a chopstick or bamboo skewer. You place it inside between the fan blade and frame. It keeps you from over-spinning a fan and damaging it.
https://www.amazon.com/Metro-DataVac-500-Watt-0-75-HP-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW
I slept on eargasms for a while but I got them and they actually improved the sound quality more than anything when I used them at Forbidden Kingdom. So comfy I forget they’re in my ears and never fell out when getting down. They’re coming with me to every show now.

Thank me later.
I'm baffled that I never see more than 2 or 3 other people wearing plugs at shows.
These are a good starter pair. If you have more coin to spare, I'd recommend getting custom fit.
https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Fidelity-Earplugs-ER20XS-Standard/dp/B00RM6Q9XW/ - if you search around amazon for this brand, you can find additional sizes, I've linked to standard fit.
You might find these useful. They're meant to reduce volume while preserving as much fidelity as possible, and I've found they do a pretty good job of it.
> i never thought about that, thanks for the tip!
these are kinda expensive, they are one of the best investments you can make in your life if you are going to be going to more shows and your ears will be close to the monitors / most punk shows. When you are 40 (and most people get to that age) not having constant ringing in your ears will REALLY make your life more fun.
Here you go. Make sure to read the reviews:

Try getting a RENPHO scale from Amazon. You’ve probably gotten to the point where you’re gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time so the scale isn’t changing much. You might still be improving but the scale # has stalled or gone up because of this.
The scale tells you your body fat%, muscle mass, body water and a ton more useful stuff.
That way you’re not relying solely on one obligatory # but a breakdown of your makeup and as a result, real progress. Hope this helps.
This is probably blogging, but I feel the need to share. Doctors best 100% chelated magnesium tablets are the best. Specially formulated to not give you the runs. I just got a pair called Eargasm. Used them back to back shows Friday and then Saturday and I 100% recommend. They come in two sizes in each set and they have a case. They ran me $35 but they’re worth it. They filter the sound instead of muffling it like traditional foam plugs. Here’s the amazon link. They’re really comfortable too. Not even gonna lie I caught myself trying to find the wire for my blue tooth earbuds because they are that comfortable lol
As always when this stuff comes up I like to plug Etymotic's cheap concert earplugs. They come with a carrying case to keep them on you so you don't have to plan when you'll need them, and they keep the music sounding good. And if you have them on you all the time for concerts then you also have them when it gets loud at work.
I am a very light sleeper and my apartment is one of those old ones with wood tiling where I can clearly hear the neighbors talking in the shower or when they wake up upstairs to get a drink at night, I'd happily recommend these earplugs.
Wavebird is the absolute best when it comes to wireless Gamecube controllers. The 3rd party controllers don’t last. Don’t overlook modern rechargeable batteries. Been using these for years without problems.
Link: Panasonic K-KJ17MCA4BA Advanced Individual Cell Battery Charger Pack with 4 AA eneloop 2100 Cycle Rechargeable Batteries https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSMJU/
I use the AA and AAA for everything. Makes the Gameboy DMG affordable. Their C and D converters probably saved me a fortune on kids toys.
I’m not married to the brand so find some that you like. Just remember AA / AAA, etc... are common standards. Something like a custom rechargeable pack wont be useful to you when you don’t need it anymore.
Amazon has better customer support, buy from them. 2 day prime shipping too
Not sure if even Amazon Prime is fast enough for this notice, but here's one option. Etymotic High-Fidelity Earplugs, ER20XS Standard Fit, 1 pair, Polybag Package
your comment reminded me of a kind of earplugs I had seen on Amazon, but never had the chance to buy/try yet:
https://www.amazon.com/Eargasm-Musicians-Motorcycles-Sensitivity-Conditions/dp/B019M576XW/ .
apparently they lower sound levels, but maintain clear sound. maybe those could help? (this is 100% not an ad, just trying to help :P)
Try high fidelity earplugs. I have tinnitus too, and also photograph EDM shows for a living. I usually keep two pairs of Eargasms off Amazon in my tour bag at all times. I no longer have tinnitus post shows and the ringing has severely decreased.

I'd recommend NiMH cells instead. Eneloops are considered the best cells, and you can pick up a 4 pack with a charger on Amazon for $18.
They perform better than alkalines and are rechargeable, so you'll save money in the long run (especially in blasters that use C or D cells).

Rechargeable 14500 (AA-sized) Li-ion cells aren't safe to use in stock blasters, as the motors will draw too much current for them. NiMH are much more stable, so they can handle the high current demands.
Eneloops. I've been using the same set for camera flashes for years. They have a lot of charge cycles in them. Amazon
I swear up and down by these. I can stand next to the DJ's speakers and I will be completely fine. They even have a string to connect the two so you don't lose them.
do you think it would work with this?
https://www.amazon.ca/Passion-Lubes-Natural-Water-Based-Lubricant/dp/B005MR3IVO
be alot easier to keep in the garage and plumb a line upstairs.
I've been using these for 5 years without complaints. I dont have much to compare them to, but they're definitely more enjoyable to wear than the foam plugs.
If you really want to go down this path, I'd recommend Eneloops instead of Alkaline AAs. They're rechargeable, so you can save even more money and waste in the long run, they're NiMH, so they're safer than any of the other sketchy li-ion cells that bad youtube mod videos recommend while also being more powerful than Alkaline AAs, so they should ostensibly be able to keep up with (or maybe surpass) Alkaline C, though they'll have a lower capacity.
I'm no expert but my plants love this bulb. Has a natural looking light and is just a standard bulb size for any lamp.
RENPHO! $27.99 on Amazon

I won't claim to be a huge authority in this area, but I use these Eargasm earplugs from Amazon and definitely recommend them. They do a great job of still allowing you to hear well while getting the job done in terms of ear protection.
Assuming you don't have time to get those shipped, you can find the classic big ear plugs at most drug stores, Walmarts, Targets, grocery stores, etc. Those will not work well at shows as they are basically just a chunk of foam to keep sound out, but if you're looking more to block out noise while trying to sleep, they should get the job done and are very cheap. I have had issues keeping those from falling out of my ears, but I know others have no problem with that.
My drumline uses these: https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Fidelity-Earplugs-ETY-Plugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS. They work great for letting you hear speech and everything at normal volumes while cutting down the really loud stuff. You can generally find them at Guitar Center or other music stores too
The biggest thing I did for the health of my high light plants was get supplemental lighting. A Reddit user recommended adding some lamps and once I did…. Amazing results. This was the bulb they recommended:
I know this is something I can search about online (and I will) but I trust y'alls judgement and was curious what sort of earplugs you wear at shows?
I'm hoping on increasing the volume of shows I go to post-vax and as venues continue to open back up. I used to just use foam ones like this but feel like there are probably better ones to consider, maybe?
It's the app that came with my scale. I think this is the scale that I bought. It's been really great!
Try concert earplugs. They're good at cutting volume but still allowing conversational speech to be understood. Here is a modestly priced one if you want to try it out without breaking the bank.
None. Don't waste your money on the proprietary battery packs and chargers. Get some good rechargeable AA batteries, preferably Eneloop, and a decent charger (multiple options there). Rechargeable AAs are cheaper, last longer, and are more versatile because can use rechargeable AA (and AAA) in many, many common devices. Search Eneloop on Amazon, and you'll find many different options with various numbers/sizes of batteries and many include a charger. The bundled Eneloop-branded charger will be adequate for most people's needs. Just an example--4 AA Eneloops and charger for $16: https://smile.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17MCA4BA-Individual-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSMJU/
These are way better than the proprietary junk.
You can get great ones on Amazon. Eargasm ones have served me well for years now. Been to many different shows and they work great. Try to put some money into good ones that lower the volume of the sound entering your ears and not muffling it like the cheap foam plugs. You still want to here the fidelity. These are the ones I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019M576XW
You can use amazon gift cards if you dont have a credit card.
I use these GE grow lights in clamp lights. Plants seem to like them, and they’re not a weird color like some other grow lights you may have seen: GE Lighting 93101230 LED Grow Light, BR30, Balanced Spectrum https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NN6SVG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YZS1A659RDP8WV9HXMD5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I do and I take this magnesium. Some magnesiums absorb better than others, this one is supposed to have a very high absorbtion. Some magnesiums like magnesium oxide are not absorbed as much and so they are good for helping with constipation...not what you want for relaxing muscles.
I feel like it helped a lot when my pain wasn't as bad at the beginning, I still take it daily but as my muscles have gotten worse it only helps so much. Definitely worth a shot!

Etymotic have been my go to for almost 20 years. Foam earplugs don't have the capability to have a proper frequency muting and will make stuff sound muffled like you said.
They do. Olympic villages are notorious for the copious amounts of sexual activity there. They go through unbelievable amounts of condoms at every Olympics. They could probably make use of this as well.
I love (yes, love! 😄) my Renpho body fat smart scale from Amazon. It has an app where it shows many stats like BMI, body fat, muscle mass, protein, body water. It syncs with Noom and Apple Health, as well as other health apps. When my weight ticks up a little, it’s nice to see that it is often due to an increase in muscle. I first got it when I did keto about 4 years ago, so I can compare my progress with Noom as the data and graphs are still in the app. https://www.amazon.com/RENPHO-Bluetooth-Bathroom-Composition-Smartphone/dp/B01N1UX8RW/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3NJF77KEZJOK2&dchild=1&keywords=renpho+scale&qid=1626899128&sprefix=Renpho%2Caps%2C239&sr=8-5
