Otherwise you can draw a couple of lines in a normal notebook to get a similar effect.

Don't worry about getting yourself prepared for it. I mean it. You have nothing to worry about. What you need to do to succeed is

1. Show up for class 5 minutes early, and do not miss class unless you are sick/really need to miss class.
2. Respect deadlines and tests. My first semester of college, I had a teacher pull me aside to let me know that you have to take all the tests. When they say in the syllabus that they are going to drop your lowest test grade, it doesn't mean you can skip a test.

4. While sitting in class, try to think of a question to ask. Try to ask questions often. This is what distinguishes you from other students; professors will notice you and think you are a good student. Then when you go to them later to ask for recommendations, they know who you are.
5. Every college has support for writing, math, general academic success. Use your resources. I started with remedial math, and my math teacher also told me I needed to go to the tutoring center. And I learned so much.
6. This is something that every student struggles with, but I'll say it anyway. Don't procrastinate. If you wait until the last minute to start writing that paper, then you don't have time to take it to the writing center and have someone else review it. You don't have time to ask the questions that will inevitably pop up after you start doing the work. Starting early is SO helpful. (But also, I think this is a lesson everyone has to learn the hard way so don't beat yourself up over it)
7. On the first day of class, introduce yourself to the classmates on your left and right. They will probably be there the rest of the semester. It's awkward if you don't do it on the first day.
