Yes, you can cut the pigtail. Just make sure you don't give them space to short or use a molex depinning tool to pop out the terminal and give the pigtail end a snip.

Don't get ripped off though. I paid under $6 for it.
Super easy compared to many different ones I've used. I extracted a 10 and 18 pin connector from a SF600 in under 8 minutes, might have been about 5 minutes and no blood was spilt.
The different color wire would be the earth wire. Did the count on sesame Street not mention this? It's not colored differently for a fashion statement jfc

Thesebtools are not of specific sizing, but hold the pin as I mentioned. Just bc you've never heard of something, doesn't mean it's nonexistent

Purchasing all three would cost about $50. Is there any way I can do this for cheaper? I don't need 40 pairs of pins. Seems like a pretty expensive repair for something that ought to be simple.
Here's a quick guide on making cables. That covers crimping, cutting, and sleeving, but not really in too too much detail. But gives a high level overview.
Lutro0 has far more in depth guides for just about every aspect. The videos are nearly a decade old, but not much has really changed in PSU cables in that timeframe. He's got full guides on crimping, double wires, sleeving with PET, sleeving with paracord, tool guides, etc...
You can reduce a lot of frustration and headache by buying proper tools. Don't try using staples to remove the pins from the connectors. Buy a molex mini-fit extractor tool. Don't try using a razor or box cutter to strip your wires. Buy a dedicated wire stripper. I wouldn't use the crimper part of the wire stripper, get a ratcheting crimp tool. Those are really the 3 main tools you need.
I usually get the actual supplies from Titan Rig. They have pretty good prices, and ship quickly. To make the cables, these are the terminals you need, and then some 18AWG wire. You can buy new connectors if you don't want to take take apart your existing cables.
Once you have the tools, cables are dirt cheap to make. Like a 6" GPU cable is about $2 in raw materials. But they take time, patience, and practice. It's pretty easy to do once you make a cable or two and get the hang of it. But like I said, it's not for everyone. Personally, I don't mind it, and find it rewarding to make my own. But I know plenty of people who don't want to take the time, and would rather just pay for a set of custom cables. And that's fine too.
