So much! I got mine on amazon for a great deal for the price. Here is the one I got. it works wonders to keep my plants growing ever since I moved into my new apartment. After a month of the grow light, one has even flowered! 10/10 would recommend for a cheep grow light that’s 2’ long.
Thanks! I’ve been thinking of replacing my light.
This is the one I currently have. What wattage would you recommend upgrading to?
I have the pink/blue ones. I've had several versions of them all ordered on amazon. These are my current ones. But I have a whole indoor greenhouse set up (apartment sized!). Everything is pretty happy! I even start seeds for a veggie garden in it.
ID: adromischus rotundifolius Light: artificial LED sun lamp 12 hours a day (This one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072J2T878/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tSenBbKHFT406) Water: every 2 weeks Soil: 1/2 hoffman organic cactus and succulent soil, 1/2 perilite Drainage: absolutely
I noticed some shriveling on the back plant on Monday. Was going to water it on Tuesday so I thought nothing of it. The black leaves literally appeared over night.
I assume the back plant is a goner, the right plant may be as well but I have hope for the left. The black leaves are firm, feel like a healthy leaf.
I’ve had this plant for about two months. Nothing has changed in its environment during that time. I reported it that day, no signs of mush, rot, spots, or anything like that. It’s been in that same pot in the same spot on my shelf since then.
I have a feeling it may be a sunburn. Same spots, but some bigger plants were moved off, so it’s possible it lost some shade that we’re getting.
Is anyone familiar with this particular plant? Haven’t been able to find too much about it online. If not, has anyone seen leaves go black and a plant shrivel up overnight like this?
I’ve moved it out of the light to give it a break. Considering quarantining it so it doesn’t spread to my haworthias if anyone recognizes it as something infectious. Any advice is appreciated. I’ve never seen something like this before.
Here are my plants right now! I have them underneath a purple light bar I got on amazon for very cheap by comparison to everything else I’ve found. I have this ($35.99) above mine but I would recommend something smaller for your setup since he is smaller. I prefer red and blue lights for leaf development and there are many varieties because of people growing weed in their closets. I would get an aluminum socket thingy from Lowe’s or Home Depot (I know Lowe’s has them for sure) and just get a haughty enough wattage bulb for your plant. You’d have to do some research to find out what you’ll need, but there are great comprehensive guides! Best of luck!
Madagascar Palms require very bright light and very little watering. Once a week watering is entirely too much and the reason for the leaves dying.
Mine are under these lights: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072J2T878/?th=1 and planted in Jacks Gritty Mix, #111, soil for Succulent and Cactus.
Grow light is situated less than 10 inches from the top of the Madagascar and soaked, never top-watered, less than once every three months. Approximately 4 times a year.
OK, thank you for clarifying. Yes, that sounds like a very good idea. I use fishtank lights for some delicate ferns, mosses and clubmoss. Very effective. If the light works, you use it. I also use regular old white under cabinet lighting for violets and jades. 95% of the time, the "full spectrum" marketing is nothing but BS.
When and if you can, possibly after you move, consider getting one or more of these lights for the top row: https://www.amazon.com/Monios-L-Spectrum-Integrated-Fixture-Reflector/dp/B072J2T878 - I've lost count of all the grow lights that wound up in storage, because they were useless.
The Monios lights are perfect. I have delicate sinningia growing under them, hardy cactus and even spiders growing under them in different areas and all the plants thrive under these lights. I know many people can't stand the fuchsia color, but they work 100x better than the "sunlight" bulbs.
I've used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072J2T878/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for tomatos in the past.. Going to see how these work with my succulents this winter.
Thanks! The lights are 30 watts each. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072J2T878?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
