If you own this house/garage, you could change out that outlet and put in a couple 6-20 receptacles and install a 20A breaker in your panel and you should be good to go.
Now if you don't own, it gets tricky. I have seen an actual manufactured converter that had an inline fuse from home depot, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.
