I swapped the soil it came with to this (link posted below) and it’s still alive with no more spots!

Get different soil. I suggest a coco-perlite mix. It’s made of coconut fibers and perlite rocks. Bugs don’t like to make their homes in it and it’s a great alternative to regular soil. Just make sure you have all the necessary nutrients since the coco fibers don’t have any nutrients for your plants. this is what I use. it’s currently 50% off!

This is my go to for all my plants.
Bought mine on Amazon with perlite. Saved a step.

What kind of system? I use cocoperlite and master blend and it isn't too expensive. This stuff is cheaper than it's been in a while, but it's definitely not soil.
So I’ve been using this on all of my alocasias, and so far so good! I think that if the plant is more mature, people recommend making it chunkier, so maybe add bark (like orchid bark) if you have it.
I would definitely repot and maybe let it sit in dry soil for a bit before watering again. These guys like to dry out a bit before watering contrary to the internet saying they like to be constantly moist.
All of my alocasia took the repotting extremely well and are putting out new leaves in December!
Yeah, there is all kinds of stuff added: worm castings, kelp meal, volcanic ash, aged bark, bat guano, and blood meal. Probably was't mixed properly and a bunch of crap ended up in one pot. If you want to buy a pure coco/perlite mix (nothing else in it), without having to do any prep other than cal-mag, try this next time:
0ppm in = 0ppm out. It is that clean.
I went with prebuffered Coco because I didn't want to have to deal with it. This is what I went with. It's worked well for me on both my grows and I'll use it for my 3rd as well.

This is actually what I use. It's prebuffered and I plant my seed and go.
Yes all these were grown in coco using 1/2 gallon fabric pots. This is what I use. Coco is three quarters to DWC.
I grow in coco/perlite from Mother Earth. I’ll link it here.
Yeah. I buy it from here. It comes pre-buffered so you don't have to wash it before use.
This is the exact product I’m using. It comes pre-buffered so you don't need to wash it first.
Would something like this work out of the bag?
Thank you, I am wondering, can I use this to fill it up to the top THEN flush it? Or should I flush this first, then add this to the top? Or do I need to just order more of the original?
