I have 8 gigs and my old Dell Vostro Destop takes a little to start Quicken; but it takes a while to start everything. Once it starts, it's pretty good. One Step Update takes a while and the screen flashes black for a moment. I think a graphics card (I am looking at this one) or memory (I can go to 16 gig) would fix that, but I usually hit the update and leave the room for a snack or something and come back later.
I actually saw this one on Amazon for $60 would this work?
MSI Gaming GeForce GT 710 2GB GDRR3 64-bit HDCP Support DirectX 12 OpenGL 4.5 Single Fan Low Profile Graphics Card (GT 710 2GD3 LP)
I am actually now considering getting a super cheap GPU that I can use while I wait until the storm blows over. Any thoughts on this if I don't plan to use it for any intensive gaming applications until I get a real GPU?
Hey, thanks for the reply. I noticed this one on Amazon that is a bit cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=graphics+card+geforce&qid=1606778410&sr=8-14 Is this one equivalent to the Gigabyte one? Or is this one worse or won't work?

Found this it’s a gt710 and has a hdmi in the back
Already looking into it, how about this one? Will it work well with my processor and motherboard?

Also in terms of a PSU, how much wattage do you consider is worth in a better PSU?
How do I tell which type I have exactly. I know it's a 3.2 gig processor 3470, with 8gb DDR3 RAM. I was looking at this to upgrade my graphics card, as I need a low profile card in my PC

For Plex you do not need a good graphics card just have a nice CPU. I have this one below I got from Amazon. I have a 2010 Mac pro with duel Intel xenon 24 core processor and run my whole setup through windows via bootcamp.

> > PS. That is the crappiest graphics card to use... You need kext edits (and correct personality set) to get that working. You may even need to edit Connector info to get outputs working.
Was doing some research, there's the possibility of a 2gb 710 for about 50 here in Canada, would anything here work?
again, thanks for the help!
Thank you for the reply. I also forgot to mention that my graphics card has been rather hot recently too, I've been noticing on GPUtemp, when I run games like League of Legends it goes to 70, when it's on idle without any games it's on 50, but when I'm running Divinity Original Sin 2/Dark Souls3/Overwatch etc it goes up to 100 degrees and that worries me because shouldn't it like... be exploding?
I feel like rolling back windows updates would be too much of a hassle and I should just get a new card. I wouldn't know what version to roll back to anyway. If I knew, and it would fix this FPS issue instantly, then of course I would. And yes I've already lowered settings to the lowest possible for the games listed :(
While you're here, what do you reccomend would be a good upgrade from a GTX 660? A good card but not too expensive. Opinions on this? I just saw it for a good deal on Amazon but idk if it's good https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1531126857&sr=8-5&keywords=nvidia+geforce
The most intensive PC heavy game I'd like to be able to run would be Final Fantasy 15, which has a minimum of GeForce GTX 760 2 GB/ Radeon R9 280. And reccomended of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB / VRAMRadeon RX 480.
Any idea if this one would work? I can't tell what PCI ports this machine has lol. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01DOFD0G8/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i4?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01DOFD0G8&pd_rd_r=9ccbefc6-3c49-11e8-a78d-95e65c90c0fe&pd_rd_w=134mr&pd_rd_wg=DnQyr&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=3R2FZPG2FT90CJN...
I'm running an amd a8-9600 apu with radeon r7 integrated graphics, and 8gb of ram. I play rocket league and fortnite at lowest possible settings and get about 35-40 fps. Would a 2gb video card increase performance noticibly? Would I be able to up the settings to medium and get closer to 60 fps? Here's a card I'm looking at: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WimzAb11NGB3E
Hi Guys
Please be gentle, I really wanna play the game
I'm running and i7, 8GB Ram and a nvidia geforce 310 (got the box with these),
I know the graphics card is definately lacking, not even sure if i can play the game on lowest settings, but going to give it a shot.
Can you guys recommend a decent card on the cheap that will enable me to play the game? it doesnt have to be all the bells and whistles, I'd be happy with middle of the road.
Would something like this work ?
Thanks
Okay, enough people have asked, I'm going to reply here, and direct them all here.
I'm going by memory on some of this, so some technical and linux know-how will be valuable to you.
First, the x77 series doesn't have built in video, so you'll need a supported video card. I used this.
Second, you'll need to follow the instruction and install Debian Buster first, then install the ProxMox on top of that. It works well because ProxMox used Debian as its base anyway. Instructions for this are here.
Installing Debian first lets you set up partitions ahead of time, however you like. I used the built-in module, which is shown as a USB drive, for /boot. I then setup the M2 SSDs as a mirror for /. I created a zfs pool and mounted that as /storage on my HDDs. ProxMox supports ZFS very well.
I used a iodd to boot an install DVD for Debian. I don't remember which key gets you into the BIOS. F2, F10, F12, ESC... it's one of them :-). I just pressed them all in sequence until I got where I wanted. A USB DVD drive, or bootable flash drive should also work.
Once you get the boot settings updated, it's just like any other computer. You might have to adjust the boot settings back to the internal module after you remove the USB drive.
I have a APC Smart-UPS connected that auto shuts down then restarts after power failure. No issues. Been running this setup for 8 or so months.
Yup. It's this one to be exact:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DOFD0G8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Not sure how much Golden Tee actually utilizes the GPU, but either way it runs like a champ!
Yeap. If you need a replacement part you're better of buying a $100 video card and hoping it's not inferior to what you have. The semiconductor shortage is effecting all industries now though, not just gamers.
a 1050ti off eBay might be your best bet in that price range, try to get the 4gb version.
here's a 1060 that's being bidding on currently, might be worth a shot.
and another bid that might be worth dipping into
and you could go for something like that from Amazon, it's not great but it's more powerful than what you have.
The highest wattage PSU that Dell provides for the 3070 line is 260W. The GT 710 requires a 300W PSU to run.

AMD does still have GPU inventory to clear, this was stated in the QR. But it isn't really a problem because the only new products are the stopgap 590 they knew not to overproduce and the VII, which is in a different market segment than the excess inventory. So AMD doesn't have the problem that Nvidia does, which is that its excess inventory competes with their own new products.
From the prices, $450 and up for Vega 56, I doubt the claim that Vegas are in high supply. If they really were they would be at least $100 less. I think it must be mostly 570s and 580s and they must have a decent margin even at current price points. The benefit of being able to push chips into the channel at a rate it can handle.
The funniest thing about today's GPU market? Number one best seller GPU on Amazon is MSI GaMSI Gaming GeForce GT 710 2GBming GeForce GT 710 2GB which you just know is for a non-gaming Ryzen box. Thanks for that Nvidia.
If it still doesn't work you could try buying this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_i_j8WIFb8X3WHXT
Works fine with Ryzen. People use this for server builds or just a basic graphic output.
I'm not going to fix it. I just wanna recover my parents pictures from the hard River. Will this video card work? MSI Geforce my motherboard is msi brand.
Will a MSI Gaming GeForce GT 710 2GB GDRR3 fit into a P8Z68-V LX motherboard (and work properly as a video card)?
is this a good improvement? probably gonna just update to a new machine later in the year, but i'd like to be able to complete some 3d animation freelance gigs in the meantime
First things first, If you don't have an SSD installed as your boot drive that should be the first you do. You can get a 120gb ssd for like $20 but I'd reccomend spending another $5 to get 240gb. Also found this about GPU support and it seems your motherboard doesn't support new models of GPUs. I might reccomend getting thisthis GT 710 from Amazon if you really have your heart set on upgrading. There are other options on the used market but if something doesn't work you might better hope they have a return policy. The only other upgrade I can think of is adding a wifi/bluetooth card.
Buy a cheap graphics card and put it in. I have 4 dell's running UCCNC and they all have add on cards.
This is the last one I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DOFD0G8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you, much appreciated! Just to confirm I'm on the right track, something like this?
You can't.
The power supply is your limiter in this case today.
So I have the same computer, and I ran this route a couple months ago and did the math on the power supply and graphics cards. I found two graphics cards that would technically work, one used 23 watts and the other was 28. A 4gb and 8gb card.. or was it 2gb and 4gb? Either way, both cards would fit assuming perfect specs.
What I learned during my research from a friend that works in the cyber security fields, is that power supplies tend to wane over time. She then showed me quite a few websites talking about this.
Now I don't remember the exact numbers on how much power the Elite 8300 uses by default, but assuming your power supply is 85% efficient then you could fit the 2gb card. Just barely. With just a couple watts to spare. But if your power supply is at 80% efficiency then you can't fit that 23 watt card anymore.
When I tried to look up means to test my power supply I found that it requires some specialized equipment that costs well over what it would cost to just build a new computer to begin with.
On the other hand if you just wanna try anyway, https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=low%2Bprofile%2Bgraphics%2Bcard&qid=1554446634&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1
Just know though that it expects a 300w supply even though it only uses 23 watts itself. And if your system isn't putting out enough power to support all your parts it could end up damaging some of your parts.
However, I just opened a thread tonight seeking some help that may also help you. Bit more costly perhaps, but it's my next step in my search to get this computer upgraded.
Would a card like this suffice? https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Alright, well it was worth a shot. Something like this would probably do best, and it seems well-reviewed:
But which one would you rather get, the Zotac or this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=psdc_284822_t1_B01E9Z2D60?th=1
And if i got something like this https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-1030-2G-LP/dp/B071L4VKF6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1512676649&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1030 would this change anything?
Thanks
