I had lots of lumps in the first couple months, but they're all gone now as the tissue softened, so I wouldn't worry too much. I heard a rolling massager (like this) helps a lot, but I wasn't diligent about using mine.
I used a faja with an ab board, and wearing a compression tank top/cami under everything helped a lot with the indents and rubbing. But, I have no idea if it actually helped... better safe than sorry though I guess!
I use both, but the massage gun is better for targeting specific areas. The foam roller can kinda be a pain to get the spots you need. I will say though that the foam roller or any kind of roller is much more cost effective. If you're going to get a massage gun I think its worth investing in a good quality one. I love mine but they can get expensive.
Another good option is a handheld muscle roller (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sportneer-Atheletes-Massager-Reducing-Tightness/dp/B01NADHIT0) This one makes it easier to get to the spots you want and its way cheaper than a massage gun.
Try a muscle roller like this to help get the lactic acid moving out of the muscles.
Another option is a massager like this one which you can place on your arms or any sore muscles for a pretty good massage. It's not vibrating and lame. It actually kneads pretty damn good. Sometimes a little too good.
You’re a big guy, I’m gonna assume you have a really big calves. Try these things.
1) get a calf stretcher. Hold the position for 2 minutes on each leg. (Looks like this https://physiquefitness.com/product/foot-calf-stretcher/)
2) have a (good) friend or significant other put their elbow with some weight into your calf while you’re lying down. Have them slowly move their elbow until it hits a sore spot. Tell them to hold it in that spot for 10 seconds. Have them move their elbow again until you feel another sore spot, etc. Do this for about 5 to 8 minutes per calf.
3) do self massage. Use your hands and a hand held roller like this https://www.amazon.com/Sportneer-Atheletes-Massager-Reducing-Tightness/dp/B01NADHIT0/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=calf+roller&qid=1599718024&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySjVBM0JGTFpLQjAyJmVuY3J5cHRlZ...
It’ll be painful at first (especially #2) but as your calf gets more use and elasticity you won’t (shouldn’t) feel pain but just a little bit of discomfort.
something like that, you basically just roll it up and down your calves and thighs to help loosen them up and promote muscle recover, just look up Muscle Roller Stick on amazon
