I don't know this book, but you've just given a perfect reason for you to buy it. :-)
But in terms of the music you want to write, I also suggest checking out this book recommended in the FAQ.
Classical knowledge won't help much for pop music, but will be some use in game music. But for the latter, the best thing would be something about music for film and TV. Again, I haven't read the book myself, but something like this.
Bear in mind that one book - however good! - is never enough! I recommend at least three sources for your theory knowledge, although not all of them need to be books. I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations here... (Including, for learning pop music, to learn to play songs... ;-) .. because that's how the vast majority of pop songwriters learn, not from books.)
How about looking into theoretical aspects in scoring for movies. The very essence of movie music is to evoke emotions, and to do this so that it creates these feelings to the largest possible audience. These books might be useful..
