> I think it's all political.
Yes, I hate election years. Stuff like this goes on on both sides. For instance the Benghazi committee is going to release a report towards the end of the summer that likely will not be kind to Hillary or Obama.
> I worry about Roberts. He is one of the most hard assed, right-wing SCJ I can imagine. He and Thomas are just so far right. They've pulled back so many laws that protect citizens.
It is actually Alito and Thomas who are the far rights. Roberts leans right but the Republicans hate him. Roberts was the deciding vote in the two Obamacare decisions. In the next couple weeks the SCOTUS is going to rule on Obama's executive amnesty case. During oral arguments Roberts appeared like he may vote for Obama. If that happens expect all hell to break loose on the right. Thomas is an interesting fellow. He was a radical leftist in college and almost got kicked out of school for protests. He become a conservative after moving to Missouri and working for the Attorney General out there. Many of his views were inspired by Charlotte native Thomas Sowell. Even if you disagree with everything he has done I still recommend Thomas's memoir. The guy grew up without a father in pretty harsh conditions in the Jim Crow South. He dropped out of seminary when one of his classmates celebrated MLK's death. When he was accepted to Yale and Harvard Law, neither of his grandparents could read and even knew what that meant when he told them.
> I like when we can all have discussions
Yes, I too love genuine discussions without the name calling. I think the biggest thing missing from this trans debate on both sides was the lack of discussion.
