I'm not sure if it'll fit exactly but I've been eyeing up this Napier that is for compact beds (5'). I figure with the bed being 4.5 feet and closer to 6.5 with the tailgate down that it may be serviceable. Link
Thanks for the cleaning advice, I definitely wasn't doing that as much in the beaters but will keep armor-all wipes and the like on hand for this guy. That is some crazy luck though my man, sorry to hear!
Sorry I guess I wasn't clear about the bed tent, I don't mean an RTT at all I'm moreso looking at those little 5 foot bed tents that sit in the bed (example), they tend to run between $150-$225 here (Canada). I have an actual tent for long stays, but I want something like this for quick weekend getaways just to get out of the city for a day to breathe, something that I will likely keep in the truck at all times.
That sounds pretty rad, $5k all-in for a camper sounds pretty good compared to the pricing I've looked at on pre-built campers. Now I just need to make friends with someone who has a nice, empty garage for a couple weeks and some beers :P
Thanks for the reply, helpful stuff for a newbie!

I can definitely vouch for the tent being really nice to have. Only real downside is that now you can't use the truck without disassembling your temporary home. I'll also mention that you absolutely want an air mattress with it. Spent two days on my ribbed truck bed thinking 3 moving blankets underneath would be enough, learn from my mistakes... This one fits in the truck perfectly (Short bed). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O4Z5XOA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
OP has the Right Line brand one, but I don't think they make one for 50" beds. Napier says they do but it's out of stock. Maybe available elsewhere?

I have a Chevy Colorado. I just got the Napier Truck tent. Check it out on Amazon.
Can't wait to use it.
