Wow thanks for so much info. My Spectrum Rep (Mgr) recommended this

If you don't need the latest wifi 6, these I know have really good mesh wifi speeds between them: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr\_1\_4?crid=2XB6RLHKYZH3C&keywords=netgear+orbi&qid=1643921706&sprefix=netgear+orbi%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-4
Look into Netgears Orbi Wifi Mesh system. It will replace your regular router with 1 of those, and you'll need to get a package that comes with at least 1 satelite as well. They communicate to each other via Wifi, but it's black magic and works basically as well as being hard wired into the router/modem itself.
I've used powerline adapters and other systems to help, and Mesh Wifi is the future.
Do you not understand the differences between "alaxa/google compatible " and "is a home assistant" or" has a mic"?
Almost no router comes with a mic, I'm not actually sure what you are reading or where you are getting your information.
The orbi does not have a mic. It can however interface with a smart assistant if you set it up. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_M724V8TQZF6BG3E2MSH1
Got it 2017 and it’s still fine 99% of the time. There are probably better models out there by now but I would say the key takeaway, be it hub and spoke or true mesh, is that you would want to get a model that has a dedicated wireless (and if possible Ethernet port also) backhaul.
Many mesh kits advertise “mesh mesh mesh! Wifi everywhere!” but if you look specs, you’ll see it only has dual band radios. That’s no different than router + repeater.
Some do have three radios, with the third acting solely to transfer data between the mesh points and that’s way better but also more costly.
This model I got has the option to connect both via an Ethernet cable but I never bothered.
Another option is orbi router. It's a 2part router wher one is the main router, and the other one is a little satellite that boosts the signal strength from the main routor

I'm sure the 752 is excellent, but too expensive for me. I'm looking at the Orbi RBK50 right now, which seems promising... but as far as I can tell it doesn't have a MoCa connection, nor do I see any mesh devices that do. Are there MoCa meshes, or are those just repeaters?
This is the exact kit we got. NETGEAR Orbi Tri-band Whole Home Mesh WiFi System with 3Gbps Speed (RBK50) – Router & Extender Replacement Covers Up to 5,000 sq. ft., 2-Pack Includes 1 Router & 1 Satellite White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_XAe8FbK3CMQBR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I was kidding earlier, but really, it’s like going from HDD to SSD, or 540 to 4K. It’s not “faster”, but it’s DENSELY consistent. And my PS5 and the Apple TV are hardwired into it.
If regular WiFi is like a joint, then a mesh network is hotboxing your whole house.
its what the isp guy recommended to me for my home, about 3000 sq ft and currently downstairs wifi great with gigabit wifi but upstairs wifi is pretty terrible, the satellite placed upstairs is practically useless

this is the current router im using that i bought like 2 years ago
Hmmm...are you an Amazon Prime member/logged in?
Hmmm...I also previously got the same 20% off coupon on the plain, RBK50 yesterday, but no longer do today. Would this be targeted?
Thanks! What do you think of mesh networking like Unifi or https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=orbi&qid=1602605244&sr=8-3 with ethernet, and maybe one ethernet grounding in the middle?
Any amazon links to the ethernet you would recommend? Some portion (~60 feet) cannot be aerial would a ethernet ground solve that issue? Related to ptp/mesh, what do you think of unifi vs Netgear's Orbi. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=orbi&qid=1602605244&sr=8-3 . Right now I am running a CM1000 modem.
Just to add some more detail on Godfrey’s WiFi improvement suggestion, since I just had to research this last week:
Cheap WiFi amplifiers like Godfrey was talking about are definitely useful, but in the context of a “high end” option, they would not be my suggestion.
Depending on your particular needs, I’d recommend either a better router—this applies primarily to people who use the default ISP equipment—or a mesh network.
Without getting too technical, a mesh network will offer a better experience than an extender. I just got this setup:
NETGEAR Orbi Ultra-Performance Whole Home Mesh WiFi System - WiFi router and single satellite extender with speeds up to 3Gbps over 5,000 sq. feet, AC3000 (RBK50)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KpEuDbED7J5Q4
Cost was appx 285. I’m returning the ISP equipment so that will knock a few bucks off the monthly bill. I’m going with this upgrade mostly for performance, and not price, though.
Should be arriving today or tomorrow so I can’t offer a review yet, but I’m confident based on research that it should be what I’m looking for.
Check out the Netgear Orbi. It's one of the best mesh wifi routers you can get right now.
You can put the base station by your computer and wire into that, and put the satellites on other floors/other side of the house and have an incredibly strong wifi signal everywhere.
Hey man
I recently moved into to a new place. Where i game is too far for an ethernet cable. What do you think of orbi? https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Whole-System-Tri-band/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1517993315&sr=1-1&keywords=orbi
I also thought of getting a power line but im really at the oppsite of the sound on the 2nd floor. While the modem is on the first floor. If i used a powerline it would run through the kitchen and living room before it gets to me. Not sure if its worth it.
Thanks.

Previously the RBK50 was the only model available. On one hand, our flats are all concrete and concrete is a killer for signal strength but 5000 may be overkill? I'm not too sure but I can say that I have full bar everywhere.
I don't recommend google Wifi as these mesh networks aren't really mesh in the sense that they don't have a dedicated radio to talk to each other so they're basically the same as having multiple repeaters around.
Try this?
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Everywhere-Tri-Band-Extenders-Compatible/dp/B01K4CZOBS
I'm using it right now in my 1,500+ sqf apartment. We only have concrete walls here in my country so hopefully that'll give you an idea of the strength.

Thank me later ;)

Not to self-promote:) -- but I am selling Netgear Orbi RBK50, which includes a main router and a satellite. See https://www.reddit.com/r/homelabsales/comments/qosqtr/fs_routersswitch_for_sale/. Check out Amazon site here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K4CZOBS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
They have worked greatly for me and I think would work great in your case. Let me know if you are interested. I have switched to all Unifi devices, and hate to leave the Orbi collecting dust on the shelf.
I use this:
It's a bit pricey but you may not need a satellite.
First off, don't waste your money with extenders, they are garbage. This is what I tell all of my home clients. If you want great wifi without running cable and putting up AP's, then this is what you will want:
For a Medium-sized house:https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=orbi+wifi&qid=1613421589&sr=8-4
If you have a Massive house you can buy another satellite. But, this uses a dedicated backhaul band to stay connected which won't take any of your bandwidth. This also takes the place of your router. If you have a static IP then you will have to input it manually, otherwise, disregard.
It is more expensive than other options out there, but the performance is well worth the money upfront. Plus you can take it with you to any house.
Let me know what you think. :)
You don't want to get WiFi extenders, you want a proper mesh WiFi solution. Something like this is ideal: https://smile.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=orbi+wifi&qid=1610407324&sr=8-2
Your best bet is to talk to Verizon and buy a cell booster. Typically these are ones that use your home internet and allow you to make calls/texts, but with WiFi calling you may not even need this.
Amazon has it for $285 so yes, if you purchased recently
So there's a few options, but there's not really a simple/cheap solution that I know of. The first is to deal with slow wifi and maybe use LTE when it gets real bad. The second is to move the router somewhere. Like run a cat6 cable somewhere more central and put the router there. You'll get better wifi everywhere that way - but if you take away the hard line to your gaming setups you'll lose speed there.
There's a thing called a wifi extender - I tried one once and thought it was basically useless. I'd avoid that.
If you're willing to spend some money, it sounds like there's a thing called "wireless mesh." If I'm honest, I don't know everything about them, but I think you can get some good results from them if you're willing to spend some money. I don't claim that any of these are great, but I've considered them in the past - and would be considering them now if I hadn't just bought a car...
The Orbi mesh systems meet your port requirements.
Can you move the router to a more central location? If not, something like this might help: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Ultra-Performance-Whole-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS Costco used to sell a similar set for $200 - don't know if they still do.
Something like this would work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K4CZOBS/
Costco used to sell it for $200. One end plugs into the router providing the current service you want to share.
Looks interesting. The first few reviews for one of these on Amazon aren't very encouraging though..
It has been decided that we can not run a cable so now the options are the mesh system and it appears there are some good options out there. Can you please help choose which model would best to go with for longevity of product, security if possible, and reliability?

Looks like the Netgear Orbi RBK50 is on sale around $90 off, but only has two points?
LINK for Ultra Performance Orbi RBK50 (2 points) - would 2 points be enough?
LINK for NetGear Orbi RBK33 (3 points)

Budget is to $300 and under.

So my Cox cable modem is also a router so I presume I would plug the main router into the modem router, disable the Cox network and only use the new network routing system? Or what would be the best configuration here?

( I like the idea of having a guest network and putting any unsecure or unsure devices on the guest network, i would presume the guest network has same speed as the primary network right? )

Thanks for your guys helps so far! Definitely appreciate it :)

EDIT: Also want to make sure it works well with iOS devices since that will be the majority of devices connected.
What router are you using? I have the Orbi AC3000 and the TP-Link AV2000 and they're a dream Use them all over the house.
> Where are you getting $300? There are good APs starting at $60, no need to use a router.
The post says, Option 2 is installing a Netgear Orbi AC3000
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Whole-System-Tri-band/dp/B01K4CZOBS
so i see this, https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-AC1200-Wireless-Wi-Fi-Access/dp/B01LLAK1UG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1513717822&sr=1-1&keywords=ap will this do the trick of not having to connect to a new network while moving around?
My partner is selling a bunch of electronic equipment (networking stuff mostly):
Netgear Orbi AC3000 $300
Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 $175
Apple Airport Extreme (5th Generation) $40
ActionTech Ethernet to Coax Adapter (ECB2500C) $50 Brand new in box. Never opened.
ScreenBeam Mini2 Wireless Display Receiver $30
de.Light WiFi Extender Bulb $75 Like new de.Light WiFi extender bulb. Helps eliminate wifi dead zones in your home. Wire free as you simply screw the bulb into an existing light socket. Comes with wifi bulb, hub, and Ethernet cable.
Individual pics of the specific products available, but figured the amazon links would be helpful for full specifics.
Gotcha. So Extenders and powerline adapters suck.
I’ve read about the Orbi solution too. You say that I should get the RBK50 but would getting the RBK30 be that much slower? Especially since charters spectrum will just give me 100mbps down and 15mbps up? If I can save $100 going with the RBK30 and the speed difference is negligible, I would prefer it. But if it makes a drastic change, I could dish out the extra $100.
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Home-WiFi-System/dp/B01K4CZOBS
This is the two satellite package. Depending on budget and sq ft you could definitely be fine with the one satellite package.
I bought an Orbi in March and it's been great!
I too have a 5 room flat and my bedroom is right on the other side of the house, farthest away from the fibre line in.
I personally wouldn't recommend Google Wifi as it's exactly the same as just having 3 repeaters around the house; no dedicated radio for the nodes to speak to each other so the speed is cut in half.
https://www.amazon.com/System-5000sqft-Tri-Band-NETGEAR-Satellite/dp/B01K4CZOBS
Or you could try Google Wifi which is a bit cheaper? But Google Wifi doesn't have a a dedicated connection like the Orbi does.
How about an Orbi?
