What is Reddit's opinion of Neuromancer?

the movie, Johnny Mnemonic, is also based off Neuromancer, but it's not super great at presenting the themes the book develops.

Snow Crash has a lot of Gibson/Neuromancer elements, but also includes some interesting concepts about language and religion.

Can you read any book, or do you have to choose from a list? Stephen King is really easy to get through; regardless of what you think about the story, his writing style is very easy to breeze through, and he has over 50 books to choose from. I've been hearing lots of good stuff about his newer book '11/22/63.'

Another recommendation I would make is Piers Anthony's Xanth series. It's a wonderfully fantastical setting with a very ridiculous sense of humor. The books are FILLED with puns. Don't let the dated cover art put you off. Also try the Terry Pratchet Discworld Series, or something by Christopher Moore, who also writes pretty silly stuff. You could also try Ender's Game; I finished that book in one sitting, reading it cover to cover. If you want something a little more dark, you could try William Gibson's Neuromancer. It's a cyberpunk book about a washed up computer hacker who gets hired to pull of a massive heist. It's a classic, and was the first book to ever win all three awards granted to SciFi books - the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award.

Neuromancer is coined as the novel that started it all in terms of what is known as cyberpunk today. Altered Carbon is a new show on netflix coming tomorrow and Blade Runner as far as I am concerned is the best sci fi movie ever made. r/cyberpunk is a good place to start your journey but feel free to message me and talk about cyberpunk stuff anytime you want.
