I will never have a set up without it. This winter I upgraded to a LED controller that can be changed via Amazon Alexa. ALEXA LEDS ON! ALEXA TURN LEDS BLUE! Such a sweet little mod.
I ordered my lights off of Amazon. This is the exact one I bought.
It comes as one 16 foot spool with a splitter and power connector. Pretty simple to apply and it can be connected to an app on your phone to turn on and off wherever as well as full RGB functionality. I've been having a little too much fun messing with the lights and turning it on and off, changing the colors.
Thanks for responding. I ended up with the 32ft version. They seem to be one of the more reputable strips on amazon, but as far as I can tell quality on most strips (even the mid tier hue systems) is checkered. I also have read a couple reports about it happening with hue and other systems, but most people don't seem as bothered by it as me.
Edit: forgot to link them
I have these they work fantastic! If you decided to splice them for a shelf or something, make sure you solder them in place. I have a review on Amazon with using them on my bar shelves
Nexlux LED Strip Lights, WiFi... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072DXFKRH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought a second WiFi adapter and cut this strip from amazon in half so we could have two separate colors! Pretty happy with it. Syncs with our google home too for power on/off and color changes.
I found these on Amazon for like $30.
Not sure if they'll work with your control unit or not, but there are a bunch on amazon.
Something like this.
I don't know how to check lumens...Basic LED strip as far as I know.
I setup one of these a month ago and it's been great. The one trick is that you must reserve an IP address because home assistant names it based on IP.
Nexlux LED Strip Lights, Wifi Wireless Smart Phone Controlled Light Strip Kit 16.4ft https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072DXFKRH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xN-jAbKZ959Q6
For a long game this makes sense, currently, I use wemo for managing lights, air conditioner etc.
Currently, my other option is to return bloom and buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Nexlux-Wireless-Controller-Working-Android/dp/B072DXFKRH/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499177748&sr=8-3&keywords=smart%2Bwifi%2Bled&th=1
Here you are, link
I also have them in my room and around the base of my couch, it really livens up my shitty apartment into my penthouse
It's the Nexlux RGB strip, but be warned it doesn't look that bright in real life.
Amazon nexlux leds are anything your kid would want. Source: am semi-kid, want these for my apartment badly
The LED strip is a WiFi enabled 16.4 feet long I got off amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072DXFKRH/
The clip design is this one: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/14190-led-platform-for-prusa-i3-mk3
I didn't want to print the LED shade from the design nor do I want to cut my LED strip or do any soldering, so I made the LED shade from $1 foam board that I used to make RC airplanes with. It's a 2 piece design that has an inner layer for me to wind my 16.4 feet long LED strips into without having to cut it down.
Now I can remotely control my light on my printer from my phone!
There are lots of choices, the two most popular roll your own controllers I’ve seen are an Arduino/NodeMCU or raspberry pi.
You can also get a kit on your favorite electronics site (Amazon, EBay, etc).
Thanks guys! Yes I have a color changing light strip mounted behind it (linked below). Connects to Alexa and can change colors through the app

This is my first RGB attempt, so no idea if these are good or not. If anyone has better suggestions, I'm listening!
i would recommend an led light strip like this
Something like This?
