I have several external drives that require two (adjacent) USB ports to provide sufficient power via its Y cable. Since many new laptops replace some with Type-C ports, I tried a cheap adapter which provided the extra juice. Figured the idea might help others with new laptops.
nondo USB-C Adapter, Amazon pictured, or another brand
Yes – you can use your MacBook Pro with any Bluetooth mouse. If the mouse requires connecting it via a cable to pair it initially, you can get a fairly inexpensive USB-C-to-USB-A adapter on Amazon in order to accomplish that.
I just got the nonda adapter, and so far, it turns the headset on and WMRPortal detects it. I haven't done any testing to see if it can keep the power delivery up to par yet though, if there are issues I'll report back again. The Nonda adapter is definitely way more compact, just going pin-to-pin for the USB connection. Here's the amazon link to the adapter I'm trying with it now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015Z7XE0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I2YWCb54ZYBBE
kinda dead posting but i was curious about the 2nd usb-c passthrough. does it get enough power to charge a mouse with a usb-c to usb-c? also when you say you have your dongle attached to the other pass through is your dongle usb-c or do you have some converter? along the lines of this
Great app I stumbled across while updating my Tesla app.
this super simple app will allow you to view all of the sentry files directly from your phone. Just requires a compatible USB A adapter depending on your model. These run about $5-$10 on Amazon.
I got a sentry mode notification whille at lunch the other day, walk back to my car in the parking deck, unplugged the micro SD and put it into my phone (with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015Z7XE0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mEHkEbHJH8NK4) and realized that it was just a harmless child walking too close to the car.

Among the Elgato products, I chose the Cam Link because it is very small (it's basically a USB drive, 8cm x 3cm) with an HDMI input on one end and an USB output on the other end. So small enough to be added to your backpack without trouble. For your Macbook, you'll also need some USB-C to USB3 adapter, though, if you don't have one already. Maybe something like this.
Elgato also has a high-end external game capture card with an HDMI output so that you can output your feed to a TV at the same time as capturing it with a computer, but I didn't need that. And it's more expensive. I bought the Cam Link on Amazon Canada so you can look up the price there.
Enjoy your portable setup!
Sorry, I wasn't thinking about the Primenowness of it. It's the nonda USB Type C to USB 3.0 Mini Adapter. The regular Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/nonda-Adapter-Thunderbolt-Aluminum-Indicator/dp/B015Z7XE0A/
I went down the rabbit hole a while back and the shortest I could find were these 4" ones. There are plenty others if you add "10cm" onto your search
Unless you don't care about weight, then just slap a USB-C adapter onto any of those 3" USB-A to USB-C keychain ones.
FYI, you can get a USB A to USB C adapter. We used this one:
You can get them on Amazon for dirt cheap

Can't say about Anker but there are plenty of hubs on Amazon and I haven't had much luck with them for my daily use - like my laptop is connected to a 27" Dell monitor 24x7. The hubs I used generated a LOT of heat and many a times the USB drive bays wouldn't work with my external HDD (for time machine). Something tells me about lack of power here.
I finally gave up after 2 replacements from 2 different vendors and settled down with this Apple Multiport Adapter. I also invested in a Nonda USB-C-USB3.0 converter and it has been a breeze so far. FWIW I have the Apple bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse. This setup is a year old and I haven't had any problems.
Or just buy this, and move on with you're life. HDMI hasn't been supported by Macs for many years now (at least 5). It's really old tech display port is much better and been around a long time.

I own 3 of these. They are fast and clean.
I have specific adapter cables for lightning and HDMI to USB-C. But for USB to Thunderbolt, I like these.
I just got my first MacBook. I have the 10th gen i5 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. As far as accessories, I bought
- nonda for most of my usbs
- uni usb c to dp so that I can connect to my monitor
- Tomtoc sleeve
- USB C cables for my external drives, so far work well
- MX Keys bought this so I can use on both the MacBook and my Windows Desktop

I was planning on buying a case for it, but decided on a dBrand skin instead. Just waiting on the skin to arrive so I can apply it.
So yeah, if like me you want your laptop to have just one extra USB port but don't want the mess of cables that adding an USB hub means (especially a powered one), this adapter will do just that. It fits perfectly, unless you wanna plug a super wide USB stick to the USB-A port in which case it might collide.
Mind you that apparently there used to a bigger version of this adapter, so make sure upon receiving it that you've received the smaller, newer one
I use a Logitech wireless trackball on all of my Chromebooks. The wireless dongle is USB-A. For my Pixelbook and Pixel Slate, I use a simple adapter like this:
I don't want a cable. Cables are messy & cumbersome.
I want a dongle, so I ordered this from Amazon, instead.
It even lights-up to show it's active. But thanks anyway!
