There's a fairly famous book about the many cases where people have died on Washington. You don't have to deal with altitude sickness like the rockies but when the weather turns it can get ugly quick. A month or two ago the weather station on the summit recorded continuous winds over 110mph for 3 straight days.
> I think I heard of an accident report book for the Whites.
Not Without Peril - 150 Years of Misadventure On the Presidential Range ^^non-referral ^^link
If you like these kinds of stories, I highly recommend Appalachia, the journal published by the Appalachian Mountain Club. That's where this story was originally published.
Every issue has an extended "Accidents" section, with stories like this. If you have read Not Without Peril, Appalachia has a similar tone; every issue is like an extra chapter of that book.
Lot of prospective Himalayan climbers use Washington as a training climb from a weather perspective. Some also consider it one of the most dangerous climbs https://gearjunkie.com/worlds-10-most-dangerous-mountains
There's a good book I read a few years back on the mountain's history with death https://www.amazon.com/Not-Without-Peril-Misadventure-Presidential/dp/1934028320
No Washington but close by, always thought this was a creepy story. Local hiking author climbed Mt. Lafayette to die. https://www.nytimes.com/2000/02/20/us/guy-waterman-dies-at-67-wrote-books-about-hiking.html
That being said I've done the climb a few times and it's amazing. You can get some crazy wind and weather for sure. pretty cool history.
I would recommend a good book first:
