I need to take three of these capsules twice daily:
I was diagnosed with IBS-D and had constant diarrhea. These have been a huge help. If I go to two capsules twice daily, I start having issues. I also found out I can't handle olive oil. If I have something made with olive oil, I'll get cramps in my gut 30 to 60 minutes later, and then shortly after I end up running to the bathroom and get completely cleaned out. Works better than Golytely.
My first year, I was up 2-3 times a night, and when I mentioned this to my surgeon at the time of my annual check up, he said “take an Imodium before bed.” So I started doing that and got it down to once a night. I’m still up and going once a night, but it’s needing to pee that wakes me up...and it’s just easier to go ahead and evacuate while I’m at it 😉
As for your second question, I soiled myself in the middle of the night 2-3 times in the past 2 1/2 years, but not full on shit myself. When it happened, it was typically the result of being extra reckless with eating/drinking whatever I want, subsequently having a lot of gas churning around while I’m asleep, and my body letting it pass...with me discovering in the morning it wasn’t all gas LOL
Are you taking any fiber supplements like Metamucil? My surgeon recommended I take it with every meal because it slows down the digestive tract, and it really does work. I hate the powder and take the capsules, and because I’m cheap I get a generic from amazon: [link]. My surgeon wants me to take it 3x a day (once before every meal) but I’m lazy and typically only do it when eating some I know will mess me up, like salad! It does a good job of firming things up from watery diarrhea to an oatmeal consistency, which means less trips to the bathrooms do leas chance of any gas being accompanied by leakage. Hope that helps!
I use psyllium husks to help avoid constipation. I'm definitely naturally just going less now that I'm eating so much less, but sometimes I don't go at all for a few days and that's when I use the fiber supplement. I think having sufficient water really helps avoid constipation, too, and I'm not always so good at that.
I've been on 1200 for 5 months now. I've been at it since the last week of March and I'm trying to power through September. It's this 6th month thats killing me.
It is possible to get used to it if you do it right. 1200 is an extremely little amount of food.. You definitely need to figure out how to get decent protein, fiber, and volume. And you need to keep up with your water intake.
You can lose weight eating 1200 of pure junk and chips if you want to, but you won't feel good at all and it won't be easy lol.
What helped get me through the first month was psyllium husk capsules. You can also get it as a drink I believe but I like these capsules [link]
Theyre pure fiber and expand in your stomach to make you feel fuller. No calories and its good for you. You must take them with a glass of water. I would take 1 or 2 before meals or between meals and it helped drastically.
How’d it go? I take Psyllium Husk supplement every day and it works like a charm

Never taste it at all.

Yes because psyllium husk is nothing but fiber. I just eat them in the capsule form but they can also be had in water, like you have your chia seeds. They expand once in the stomach and voila - your lack of fiber troubles are gone! I use this brand from amazon - [link]
Amazon! These are the ones I've used.
I've gotten a little bit of cramping from using them but nothing too bad. The results are worth it.
>I'm still tracking protein per day. You recommended (at least) 200g per day
I ate 280-290g of protein per day. Take psyllium husk capsules. Your asshole will thank me.
Buy yourself some Fiber Supplements
My poops are all sub-minute affairs now.
I am very sorry you have to go through this :( If it makes you feel any better, I feel your embarrassment. I have sweating issues. I sweat more than most people and pretty much no deodorant works for me. I've even tried prescription antiperspirant that burnt my armpits. It embarasses me greatly but isnt enough to be a medical condition.. so. You're not alone. Anyways! Back to you!
Did you know they make fiber pills?
NOW Psyllium Husk 500 mg,500 Capsules [link]
I bought those a month ago and I've been taking 6 a day. 3 with lunch and 3 with dinner. It helps you poop and when you wipe, your butt is pretty much already clean. You do have to drink a bottle of water with them though or risk constipation. For me, I just take the pills and down the water as fast as I can. I HATE drinking water but these pills make me drink more than ever.
Some tips that have helped me drink more water: invest in a 32oz water bottle. When you wake up, down a standard size (16oz) bottle of water. When you're at work, drink a full 32oz bottle of water. After work, drink another standard size bottle of water. Drink more if you can but if not, this should be plenty to sustain your body. I drink flavored water in my 32oz bottle at work to encourage me even more.
Also, have you heard of PooPourri? I haven't used it, but maybe you should look into it! I've heard nothing but rave reviews. You spray it into the toilet before you go and then after you flush, it makes the room smell amazing.
I take three of these Psyllium Husk capsules twice daily because I have IBS-D. Without them, I'm a mess. Literally.
Edit: I found Olive Oil makes my problem worse, so I stick to other fats when cooking.
My life changed when I started using fiber pills. I personally use these, Psyllium Husk Capsules, to help keep things solid and stay "cleaner." Give it a shot!
Also, don't sweat it too much. A good top shouldn't worry too much about it being squeaky clean up there. All you can do is try your best to prepare and whatever happens, happens.
Stool softener every day! Or if you aren't into the medication route, try adding more fiber. I personally like psyllium husk capsules.
I've been taking psyllium capsules with my meals. Very convenient and it's helped me tremendously.
Thanks for the reply and all the advise. I am new to the world of fiber. So I just ordered the following on amazing.
They had the best reviews I could find. How do they look?
That's all the same thing just in different forms depending on how you'd prefer it. I personally just like taking the capsules with water because it's easy and tasteless but others blend the whole husks into their smoothies and protein shakes or just eat it. The powder is the same stuff in the capsules, you could eat it or make your own capsules. But a warning that I find the actual taste of psyllium husk not terribly pleasant (kinda like dirt or sand) but tastes differ! You could start with capsules, break some open and try it.
Right now I get this one [link] because it's a great value and I'm lazy..
Take about a dozen Psyllium fiber pills before you eat. Seriously. Your poop will be much harder and leave (hopefully) zero acidic residue on your posterior. [link]
Even better than an enema (and safer/healthier) are fiber tablets like these. If you take these things consistently you'll be much cleaner down there. The fiber binds together your poo so you can evacuate it more easily when you go #2 without leaving any residue behind. Trust me, it works.
i went to a fat camp once, they had you plan out your foods a week in advance, then they'd cook them for you. in order to get as much bang for my buck (calorie wise), you pick lots of vegetables. i dont think i had ever been eating more veges in my life, and it was still a mess. still mostly solid, but always quite a bit of cleanup.
you can buy loose psyllium husk, or in gel capsules. ive tried 3 different brands of loose husk, and it all ends up having a metallic taste. just yuk. so i get the "now brand psyllium husk capsules" 500mg each. they come out to $0.05 per 500mg capsule. if you buy the loose husk powder, it ends up being $0.03 per 500mg.
actually, that's only partially true. the $0.03 per 500mg is if you bought your own gel caps and filled them yourself (not taking into account the cost of a pill filling station). so the actual price for loose powder, might be $0.02 per 500mg
for me, i'm taking enough psyllium if i can poop, and not have to wipe. granted i still do, but it's so much nicer when it's 98% clean like that. i'll normally take 15-20 of the 500mg capsules early in the day, with breakfast. it kinda acts like a plug and slows everything down for those 24 hours.
the only worry, ive heard some people say it can bind up around your supplements so cant absorb them as well. no idea if it's true.
I'm 31 and I've been dealing with similar issues for the last few years. I actually suspect my personal problems might have started with SSRIs that was prescribed trying to help some IBS-D symptoms I was having. Now I basically don't have bowel movements regularly and start to feel pretty lousy after a few days.
I also drink plenty of water and run 12-15 miles a week.
I've tried lots of different things, I would recommend you try psyllium fiber supplements, you can buy them very cheap at Amazon: [link]
Or maybe eating a few prunes every day. You could also ask your doctor about taking Miralax daily.
Those things kind of helped me for a few weeks, but eventually it was back to usual.
Now I'm trying to work out Linzess. It's a prescription medicine that definitely gets me going to the bathroom - a little too well actually. Basically you take it on an empty stomach and then eat about 30 minutes later. It sends me right to the bathroom for an hour or two. That evacuation is definitely complete.
try Psyllium husk if you haven't already
this stuff on amazon is cheap and just check the reviews, you know it works:
>Recently I embarked on a journey for the holiest of holies. The holy grail of bowel movements.
You can also try the Metamucil Psyllium wich has different stuff but costs a whole lot more.
You can also time your bowel movements, have intercourse in between them.
I also don't do full enemas since they bring the stuff that isn't well formed yet from deep in the intestine, I only use a few ounces of water to dislodge stuff and repeat 3-4 times until its clean.
Psyllium Husk Capsules. They are my IBS life-saver. I get them from Amazon and take 2-4 caps a day. Cannot recommend them enough! [link]
You could do what Littlefoodt said, or go the easy way and just buy the pills from Amazon
these! super cheap and they work!
I take two or three psyllium husk capsules per meal, that I get from Amazon.
I take three capsules, twice daily, of the 500mg NOW Psyllium Husk Capsules. Did wonders for my IBS-D.
They have. Basically dry fiber in a pill.
https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Psyllium-Husk-500-Capsules/dp/B0013OW2KS and drink a lot of water
Half a year's supply for 16 bucks. Take 3 pills daily at the same time, although the bottle suggests that you should do this twice a day. The human digestive track normally takes about 32-36 hours to fully pass whatever food you eat so spot-timing the fiber is impossible, so make it part of your daily routine. There are a ton of benefits to keeping your fiber intake high beyond just being able to skip the douche, so don't be stingy with these capsules.
this stuff from amazon
I take 3 capsules in morning and 3 at night with a glass of water or 2, it’s 500 capsules for 16 bucks so it lasts for like 70+ days lol
I’ve used ‘NOW Supplements’, which has worked great (they’re a good brand in general IMO). I bought these specifically: [link]
I'm taking this ones btw
NOW Supplements, Psyllium Husk Caps 500 mg, Non-GMO Project Verified, Natural... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013OW2KS/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_A.ytEb2WCT29J via @amazon
I get it off amazon! :) [link]
Vegetables always help.
I have also used this, too.
Psyllium Husk Powder
I take 3 capsules with my first meal around noon and 3 more with my dinner at 6. I use NOW Psyllium Husk 500 mg,500 Capsules [link]
Unrelated question: What is up with psyllium husk supplements? Is there something special about psyllium husk which helps with bowel movement, or is it the same as any fiber source?
Also, why are the doses so low? The nutrition label only gives 1.1g of fiber per serving, and the it recommends 3 servings daily for a total of 3.3g of fiber. I've read that for every 1000 calories consumed, you need 14g of fiber. If one has a 2000 cal diet, that's 28g of fiber. How is 3.3g anywhere near that? What good would that do?
I take two of these capsules, three times a day. I've never felt bloated.
For me, it was the reverse. I take two of these Psyllium Husk capsules three times a day. Now my diarrhea is (usually) nice stools.
Been taking psyllium husk powder for a year; keto for three days. A bit of keto flu, but no trouble in the brown department.
There's cheaper alternatives
Try this: [link]
It will take two days to kick in and you will be pooping like a champion.
There are capsules they sell but its the same thing, Just the powder in capsules :)
Here's the American product for reference.
Found it on the Canadian site as well.
Imo all gay men should be required to take these.
Pills get rid of the texture/taste problem
Get these and you can shit 4's all day long bro.
OP have you tried taking fiber supplements, such as psyllium huskor bentonite clay? These seem to really help push things through while keeping it solid.
I dealt with this too, almost exactly like you described it. Added Psyllium Husk and some of these for work and tried to eat something leafy and green at lunch and dinner (spinach is my friend now). Also upped my water by .5 - 1 litre additional per day.
Making these changes definitely made the event more regular (every 1 - 2 days) and much easier. Nothing like pre-keto, but certainly seems much more efficient.
Hope you can find something that works!
Psyllium husk--here's the link: [link]
I use green. It took about a week to for the constipation to start. I take Psyllium Husk Caps , which are basically ground up mushrooms in capsule form. They work really well for me.

I do 20:4 and I notice that my "poops" vary from day to due (like others have said due to the fiber that I'm eating, and also due to how hydrated that I am). Sometimes I don't poop until I'm in my next feeding window the next day. Psylllium husk tabs are great, along with a bunch of water. These Tabs on Amazon aren't that bad of a deal!! [link]
I take the capsules, easy-peasy and no calories wasted on stuff that tastes bad. The mix with water stuff is truly hateful.
Don't take the sugar free flavored metamucil. Take the capsules. It's not flavored and you can't taste anything at all. It's so much easier and much more pleasant to take a few capsules every day vs. mixing a powder into a liquid. I've been taking Metamucil capsules for a long time, my Dr. was the one who recommended it. Trust me, go with the capsules (3g Total Carbs, 3g Fiber. 0 net carbs.) The powder is just inconvenient and never blends well and doesn't taste very good, no matter what flavor you choose.
Edit: Metamucil is not your only option, it's just the most popular brand of psyllium husk. If you can order through amazon, This is cheaper and pretty much the same thing as Metamucil capsules. Pay attention to their serving size. You want to take 6 capsules, not 3.
psylium husk caps is the truth
