Kinda related: there are a series of books about the US national parks that loosely take the name of "Death in [Park Name]," like this one about Yosemite.
Some of them go into the demographics of who's dying or getting injured. It's like 99% male, and of those, a majority tend to skew towards the 16-35ish range.
In a nutshell, having balls leads to doing stupid shit, and if the owner of said balls is in a certain age range the likelihood goes way up.
This kinda thing has been happening as long as men have had testicles. There's always a friend or potential sex partner to impress.
On a related note, the excellent book "Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite" has a few stories like this that will have you shaking your head in disbelief for years to come.
People can't drive in the rain here so snow is a shit storm. 2010/2011 saw a lot of snow and I was turned around on that trail in early April. Not trying to be added to the next edition of this book

After getting dinner at Yosemite's Ahwahnee hotel last summer, I thumbed through this book in their gift shop: Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite
Afterward, I felt a bit dumber for having a similar picture taken of me on my way down the Upper Falls trail. Regular hikers taking shots like this account for quite a number of the deaths in the park's history. I liked to think it was a calculated, acceptable risk, but the book was pretty good at convincing me otherwise. Admittedly, it doesn't estimate how many such photos result in no consequence but a cool photo.
All the same nice shot. :) And for anyone visiting the park, try to get at least one dinner at the Ahwahnee...it's so amazingly delicious after a day of hiking, certainly worth the price ($50+ per person). In the popular late-spring and summer months, you'll need to make your reservation at least a week in advance. Don't forget to ask your server for tips on where to visit/hike in the park...they know it well.

Ghiglieri also did one on the Grand Canyon
It's called "Off The Wall: Death in Yosemite". It's basically exactly like the Grand Canyon one, but about Yosemite. Has one of the same co-authors, too. https://www.amazon.com/Off-Wall-Yosemite-Michael-Ghiglieri/dp/0970097360
There's another one called "Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite" that's just as interesting, too
Here’s the Amazon link
There's a book called Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite
Might be of some use.
Search a site like Amazon for "Death in {Park Name}" and you'll get a bunch. I've read a few of them including:
Flash Floods & Falls: Deaths & Rescues in Zion National Park (doesn't seem to be on Amazon any longer)
The Yosemite and Grand Canyon ones are really good.
I'm Eastern Sierra so I'm partial to things that are relevant to my area. Off the Wall, Death in Yosemite is really good as it catalogs all of the deaths in Yosemite. Drownings, falls, exposure, murder, etc. This is in the same format as the Grand Canyon book.
The Death Valley Germans is a terrific Internet rabbit hole to spend a few hours in.

There's one for Yosemite as well.
