I recommend Old Man's War

The beginning line is awesome: John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army.

It's part of an amazing series and they are all excellent books.
What is that 6th format "Digital"? Not Kindle, hardcover, paperback, audiobook, mass market paperback, but Digital. I've never seen that at Amazon before. What do you get for the $1.29?
I'd highly reccomend Old Man's War by John Scalzi.
Great writing, interesting premise.
The Colonial Defense Force (CDF) is the only organisation on Earth that has spaceships and has colonised other worlds. They recruit people who hit retirement age to fight for them. They'll take you from Earth and never let you return again. You'll serve two years at the front. And if you survive, you'll be given a generous homestead stake of your own, on one of the hard-won colony planets.
I switched it up and started reading the "Old Man's War" by John Scalzi. Its an easy read with some funny parts, but still makes you think about how we will need to deal with impending technological advances in the future. So far I've enjoyed it.
I hope the downvotes were more for my inartful and pretentious comment than against the book. Don't take my word for it though check out the reviews on Amazon. I like the book though because it blends classic space exploration scifi, like Heinlein, with more modern genetics, networking and computer technology speculation.
