Mine is from 2016 and is a different color, but this is the same manufacturer and model. I know it works as well as what I have because I bought the black one for someone else and compared them.
You might consider putting together a small first aid kit with basic boo boo supplies ~~and some OTC medicine~~, should be pretty light weight. I'd also add some kind of flashlight. I EDC this Olight keychain flashlight, which is one of the lightest out there while throwing a decent amount of light (~90 lumens).
Thanks for your reply. The Amazon listing doesn't say anything about the Olight having three modes. https://www.amazon.com/Olight-Flashlight-i3E-EOS-Beautiful/dp/B017R560WC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490713836&sr=8-1&keywords=olight+i3e+eos
Is it possible that version only has one mode, or do you think it is just not listed? I know it seems weird, but I actually prefer only having one mode. I don't like to fiddle around, I rather have simple on/off operation.
They're only $10 on Amazon. Just buy another one with a white emitter. Return the UV One if you want to.
BTW the i3E has a white emitter, the i3UV has the UV emitter.
Alternatively, you could grab a Skilhunt E3A which is available with a High CRI emitter (better colors) for an extra $3. Otherwise it's virtually identical.
Congrats! I also have an S. I'm pretty happy with my Holosun 510c. Not sure if that's compact enough for you, but it sits lower than a lot of the other red dots I looked at.
I'm still searching for the perfect tiny light setup. I ordered this one from FAB Defense: https://www.fab-defense.co.il/en/category-buttstocks/id-123/2nd-gen-1-inch-actical-flash-light.html
Along with this rotating clamp: https://www.fab-defense.co.il/en/category-flashlights-and-laser-mounts/id-239/adjustable-tactical-light-mount.html
I'm planning to mount this on the right M-LOK slot, and I'll position the light forward and upwards to ensure clearance when the stock is folded in, and also to get it as close to the charing block as possible (I too am running my charging handle on the left).
Another option I'm going to try is this tiny O-Light: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017R560WC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
Paired with this laser pen mount: https://www.thecountryshed.com/RG-LS861.html
With this setup, I'm going to see if I can mount it on the front of the top Picatinny rail without it obstructing the view through the Holosun H510C. I can let you know how these setups work out. Good luck!
After living in the deep woods for a few years, I developed a love for flashlights. I have tons around the house and in all cars now, mostly alkaline battery-powered but increasingly USB rechargeable. I've looked at Streamlights and have a few cheap OLights but no expensive ones. Most often I look for very small EDC-style lights now. I have a couple of I3Es that were "free except shipping" but you get what you pay for. I always carry an I1R for emergency backup. But my favorites recently are the glow-in-the-dark Rovyvons, like the Aurora A5X and A7X. I got the A5X as a test, and took it caving - lost it inside but found it 1/4 mi back thanks to the glow. The bright mode on these doesn't work long but it works well, and the low-power mode is great for long-time use. I liked the first one so much I got a second for my spouse and then still liked them both so much I got the A7 as an additional EDC light.
Using floss might work to bulk up the O-ring, but it'll remove any water resistance that might be left. Finding a fresh or slightly larger O-ring would be more reliable.
If you haven't done so, you should post on /r/flashlight using the guided request form to specify what you're looking for in a flashlight. There are literally thousands of flashlights to choose from, but if you know what features you're looking for or avoiding, we can help you narrow that down quickly. You might start with something cheap but well-made like the Olight i3e.
Check out this keychain light. It's tiny and kicks ass. No special batteries required. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017R560WC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_ZVX2BbJ7C8ATQ
