If you read the book written about Henry Hill by his children, the yelling at the wife doesn't seem too far off. It's been a while since I read it, but he definitely wasn't nice at home. This book

I just finished reading the book written by Henry Hill's kids

There's an excerpt where the son got tired of Henry beating up his Mom so he made this medieval mace, complete with 6 inch nails and a chain. One night, he heard him beating her again, so he grabbed the mace, stormed into the room and swung it at him, missing him (on purpose) and slamming the mace into the wall above his head. He screamed to leave her alone and he threatened to kill him if he ever touched her again.

The book is pretty intense. Henry was quite the father, to say the least. Not sure if there's a proper adjective to describe his treatment of his kids and his wife.
