Which is better, this speaker or this one? I came across the latter when browsing for the Jambox on Amazon, and they are very similar in price
Dude, this is the one to get. It sounds like a $100 Bluetooth speaker but it's only $27.99 on Amazon right now! It's their #1 seller. I currently have it plugged into the wall and into my Amazon Echo Dot. It never shuts off. The damn thing is incredible. Trust me, you won't regret it. OontZ Angle 3
There are lots of water-resistant Bluetooth speakers available on Amazon, but most of them don't have an AUX input.
Here's one that does: https://www.amazon.com/Enhanced-Splashproof-Portable-Bluetooth-Radiator/dp/B010OYASRG
I think you will probably find that most/all of the speakers have a battery, but that shouldn't prevent you from leaving it plugged in.
https://www.amazon.com/Enhanced-Splashproof-Portable-Bluetooth-Radiator/dp/B010OYASRG
This is only one I can vouch for. But it all depends how loud u want it too. Only thing I might suggest is to try to get one with USB c charging. Expecially if u all ready use USB c. It's just so much better.
When I was having issues waking up to dexcom alarms I solved it by mounting an old iPad to the wall that constantly displays CGM data via my Nightscout app (Dexcom follow crashes too much, so nightscout is needed). It also has dexcom follow on it with alerts enabled. I then placed a Bluetooth speaker nearby with the volume cranked to 11. The iPad on the wall is great because it is always displaying blood sugar info and the Bluetooth speaker can wake the entire house if needed. Normally Bluetooth speakers disconnect if no sound is sent to them for a while, but they always stay on if you leave the charging cable in it. At least mine does anyway.
Edit: this is the speaker I use ($25):

OontZ Angle 3 New Enhanced Edition Portable Bluetooth Speaker with 100ft Wireless Range, Volume Booster AMP 10 Watts Power, Custom Bass Radiator, Crystal Clear Stereo Sound, IPX5 Splashproof https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i1NMBb8QX49E4
The Bluetooth speaker needs not have an inactive timeout. I use this model: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Speakers-Bluetooth-Wireless-Portable-Shower-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG
If the speaker is always available, the action is Change playback destination.
My dad has this it’s really nice I was impressed for the price. looks like a 3 buck off coupon rn too.
I have a small Bluetooth USB rechargeable speaker that has an aux input, which means it should work for what you're describing with an aux-aux cable. I don't use it much at all anymore if you'd like it.
But also, here's the Amazon listing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_dl_TG03R3NJ1GCFYBSW63TX
maybe This one since the youtube reviews are pretty positive and is relatively cheap.
I like the Oontz Angle Rain dance. You can pair two together and use them as left and right speakers, or just synchronized. That way each board can hear the music without having to blast it.
just search on amazon 'waterproof speaker' and sort by price/ratings really. I see this one right now seems probably worth it based on price and 31k reviews.
I recommend the OontZ Angle. They provide pretty decent amount for the price. Also you wouldn't need a Bluetooth aux adapter - simply pair your new speaker with your mini.
Nope you can't. There are plenty of small speakers out there that do have an aux-in and would be comparable in sound quality.
The first search I made gave me this generic speaker on Amazon for US$26. That's not a recommendation, just an example (and that's not an affiliate link which would make me money from the two of you that might click it).
This : https://www.amazon.com/OontZ-Angle-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG Is what I currently use. I also have limited space but the speaker is Bluetooth also so if you’re looking to minimize cords this can work. It’s also AUX-able so if you don’t have a Bluetooth card it’s just as good. Solid speakers for solid price.
Like the reviews state, this is a surprisingly capable little speaker for the price: https://www.amazon.com/OontZ-Angle-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1512950402&sr=1-4&keywords=oontz+angle+3+portable+bluetooth+speaker
I'm very happy with this:
It has good range and great sound and can resist dust & splashes. Search Amazon for OontZ Angle and you will find some other options that might suit your needs better. :)
If all you want is to have a portable speaker, why not something like this?. It's only $28, instead of $50 for that battery.
I really like the Echo as a "personal assistant", but I'm always puzzled when someone wants to buy a $180 device to use as a speaker to play music. There are so many cheaper options.
I have mine paired with the Oontz Angle 3 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_avjzyb8XN0XST) which is about 30 bucks and it works great. You can leave it plugged in all the time if you'd like, but the included cable is only a few inches long so it must be close to its power supply.
If upstairs is small, consider this one for less than $30. Surprisingly loud and bass-heavy.
Woah, I apologize I got confused with who was responding.
Edit: this is the speaker that was linked before by someone else
I use the Oontz Angle which sits easily in the middle of my panniers on top of my rear rack. I usually have it on full volume or close. It makes the commute that much better because it does give me a rhythm while I bike.
I thought for sure this would have made it
https://www.amazon.com/OontZ-Angle-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG
Is that the Oontz Angle 3? If so, it's $26 on Amazon and buying a new one is almost certainly your cheapest and fastest option to getting this fixed.
This page is a good start. https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2371334,00.asp
I recommend something with a i3 or m3 core/CPU. I'd also recommend a larger 15 inch screen with 1080p resolution for better video experience. Anything with 1tb or 500gb storage space are using spinning drives which are slower but you cant get high capacity SSD at this price range. And I dont think you are comfortable with taking the laptop apart and installing one your self? Looks to me like the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) and Asus F556UA-AB32 are the best bet. For my money I'd say the Acer.
Now since you are a couple who can share laptops I would recommend getting a very different 2nd laptop. Previous recs are heavy beast and you'll be better off leaving it at your new home and taking a smaller light machine for the road. Your back will thank you.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 320 OR Lenovo ThinkPad 13 (2017) are both good options. Both has a smaller 128 gb SSD, Which will be a boon because they are much more shock resistant, spinning drives dont like long rides on bumpy roads much, just dont load that full of big movies. Neither have very exceptional processors, but you dont need that much for what think you'll be using it for, if you need to Photoshop or edit videos use the big one.
The second option, the Thinkpad, has a larger screen with higher resolution, but is also larger and heavier. The first option is smaller but lighter. Its actually a tablet (about the size of an iPad) that can detach from the keyboard dock, nice for reading in bed.
Overall for the second laptop the Thinkpad (2nd) is a better computer overall but the Ideapad(1st) might be better for your use case because you have a second laptop with a larger screen, processor, and storage.
You can set up separate accounts for each person on each laptop so you'll have your privacy.
Everything recommended will have unexceptional(at best) speakers, so consider grabbing a bluetooth speaker from Amazon. You can plug in the audio jack when at your desk or connect it by bluetooth to your phone or laptop to have some music around the house or at a picnic. This is what i use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OYASRG
I would look at this one. It has much better cartridge and stylus.
https://www.target.com/p/heyday-8482-turntable-gray/-/A-53734379#lnk=sametab
And maybe something like this just to get the person started. The turntable is decent enough you can upgrade the cartridge, add it to an amp and speakers down the road.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_3CE189EN4249DNNKRDFR
I have this, I don't use it anymore, but it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JMC6XDK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_HG5YF6MK8M28T2ZD2R6G
You could get this. It is old and it makes sound but that is about it. It does have a photo input assuming it still works. Working perfectly it just won't be very loud.
These are the cheapest decent passive speakers I know of.
https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-B452-4-1-2-2-Way-Bookshelf-Speaker-Pair-300-452
Haha, no no, I also got a well-reviewed little bluetooth speaker: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OYASRG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (no I don't work for them, but I figure people that appreciate well-made things appreciate other well-made things)
Damn man you really are an audiophile.
Try this? It has aux in and seems in budget https://www.amazon.in/Cambridge-SoundWorks-Waterproof-Bluetooth-Speakers/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=oontz+angle+3&qid=1619866406&sprefix=oontz+angle&sr=8-1
Reviews seem good and here's a video review of it too: https://youtu.be/KPTKxNwpIhk
Bluetooth speaker? Use a magnet or similar to mount it by your head? Example: https://www.amazon.com/Enhanced-Splashproof-Portable-Bluetooth-Radiator/dp/B010OYASRG/
as far as i can tell i have to wait for it to charge
absolutely aggravating use case
Can't go wrong with this
I use this right in the shower hanging under the shower head and am happy with it
Since you need it only for podcasts you should buy a cheaper speaker that gets loud enough and has long battery life. Oontz Angle 3 is one option. 25$ on amazon and listed as having 14 hours playtime at 70% volume, which means the manufacturer is likely not lying unlike "24 hours playtime" claim lots of manufacturers make. It sounds a bit harsh but that will help you understand what people are saying if your vehicle is noisy. If you're in a quieter environment just put a napkin or something over the speaker to reduce the harshness. 150$ speaker only for podcasts is overkill.
This is another option.
I bought a cheap $30 speaker off amazon that had great reviews and a cell phone holder to hold it (speaker is square and holds it perfectly) and it sounds way better!

I had to also get one of these to have it be loud enough to be heard in the shower.
After modding my cabinet (ETA Prime Mod). I didn't want to use the stock speaker so I ended up buying this wireless Bluetooth speaker.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OYASRG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I plugged it in with a standard aux cord into the HDMI board and it works perfectly. I have it mounted on top of the cabinet low enough where it is not visible.

/u/IshaanG12 , you're spamming!
https://www.amazon.com/OontZ-Angle-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG
This has done me pretty well. As loud and as good/better quality than my brother's JBL. And only 20 bucks.
I can't speak to the battery issue, but I have been very pleased with this speaker. Good sound and battery life and it's also water resistant. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_JkKkzbC1KVQWV
I leave my Oontz Angle 3 on all the time (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OYASRG/), connected to my Dot via bluetooth. Works great.
The Oontz from Cambridge Soundworks is pretty good, despite the stupid name: https://www.amazon.com/Cambridge-SoundWorks-OontZ-Angle-Generation/dp/B010OYASRG
I would say you need more information.
Is he an audiophile? Is he looking for something that plays in multiple places through out his house (like a Sonos?)
I would look towards something like what's showing up here: List Of Amazon wireless speakers
Because honestly, some of those in the articles listed by others may be complete overkill.
The OontZ looks really nice - I might get one based on the feedback I'm reading there.
My budget was somewhat limited but have really enjoyed my Oontz Angle. Good battery life, sound quality and aesthetically pleasing. Will test it out once my pi3 arrives :) http://www.amazon.com/OontZ-Angle-Bluetooth-Portable-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG
Oontz Angle from Cambridge Soundworks; you won't regret it. I have the original version, but I've been looking at getting another one.
If you have a stereo cable output on your TV, you could connect it to an Echo Dot or other external speaker...Amazon actually has some awesome, super cheap external speakers like this one that accept a stereo cable: Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3 Next Generation Ultra Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker : Louder Volume 10W+, More Bass, Water Resistant, Perfect Speaker for Golf, Beach, Shower & Home (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_g96fzbS6JKX3K
I paired this speaker with a Chromecast Audio and it has surprisingly great audio, definately much better than GH: https://www.amazon.com/Cambridge-SoundWorks-OontZ-Angle-Generation/dp/B010OYASRG/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496190207&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=omtz+speaker
This setup worked out very well, now I can cast my hacks to GH without interrupting music playback, e.g. Announce Incoming Calls, Text Messages, and Notifications.
Bruh, just get a cheap waterproof Bluetooth speaker. I can't shower without listening to something anymore, so it's definitely a good investment. This is the one I got:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OYASRG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
