Bought my Quest 2 a couple of months ago. This is the cable I am using. I use mine just about every day. I also purchased a tp-link wifi 6 router to see how much of a difference there would be between cabled and airlink.
I get a much higher resolution (flight sims) with the cable then I do through airlink. It would be nice to use airlink all the time but, for now, for me, it just doesn't work as well as cabled.
For some reason the Oculus PC app will only recognize my Q2 as being USB 3 only if I plug it into my USB 3.2 gen 1 port. In the 3.2 gen 2 port the Oculus app says it's connected via USB 2. And the cable I got is 3.2 gen 1. Unless you have a ton of cash to blow, USB 3.2 gen 2 maxes like 6ft. Anything longer than that is insanely expensive.
This is the cable I bought. Haven't really used it yet tho
Any USB 3.2 cable will work. Oculus' cable isn't that special.
There's a beta build that supports USB 2 I believe (the same cable that comes in that box). But it's only a test for now, and the newer cables aren't that much more expensive.
Here's one on Amazon you can get.
I am using this cable from Amazon that was recommended: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0881CVYKL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use it all the time.
You do NOT have to buy the $80 link cable. This one works fantastic.
I've used this one for about a month now and it hasn't given me any issues: [link]
I got this one. It works fine so far.
You need a USB C 3.0 cable at the very least. USB 2 is much slower and likely won't work for you. If you don't have any USB 3.0 or better ports on your computer, I recommend purchasing an expansion card to add some.
Here's the cable I use.
