I just bought this tooth paste and it’s been a HUGE game changer. First time I’ve brushed my teeth and been able to just move on from it https://www.amazon.com/Oranurse-3659273-50ml-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0
(Still some sensory issues with the brushing of the teeth, but at least it’s removed one of the elements for me)
Thanks for the reply. The toothpaste I'm currently using says it's SLS free but I'm still having problems. That's why I was wondering if it could be another ingredient like fluoride. I'm using this this which ingredients are
Active Ingredient; Sodium Monofluorophosphate
Other Ingredients; Water, Hydrated Silica, Glycerine, Sorbitol, Xylitol, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Benzoate and Titanium Dioxide Water, Hydrated Silica, Glycerine, Sorbitol, Xylitol, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Benzoate and Titanium
Im not sure it‘s Sulfate free, but Arm and Hammer has a toothpaste that they’re coming out with that is flavor free I think.
Edit: here‘s one on amazon that doesn’t have SLS or flavor (and it still has fluoride!)
This is unflavored toothpaste for adults, with the normal fluorine: https://www.amazon.com/Oranurse-3659273-50ml-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_mod_primary_new?crid=L7TN1MLSYT6U&
Yep, I have this non-foaming unflavoured toothpaste! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0085AOSU0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_3K25TK59JK84SA1PKTWB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Maybe I'm not looking at the right version, but according to the ingredient list on Amazon it contains both xylitol and sorbitol.
I have a similar problem. I'm not allergic to mint, but I don't like the burning feeling and I'm allergic to sulfates (which also gives the burning feeling). Your dentist may have recommendations, but for me they really didn't have any mint alternatives with enough fluoride. This is in two parts: tooth brushing alternatives and alternatives within standard dental care.
a) There are a LOT of mint-free flavors out there that are also fluoride-free - and you need fluoride, especially if you don't brush regularly. The one I'm currently using is no longer made, but here are a few recommendations that can help: Oranurse Unflavoured Toothpaste and Tom's of Maine Whole Care Natural Toothpaste with Fluoride, Cinnamon Clove. You can also use kids' toothpaste, but it has less fluoride (and make sure it doesn't say "fluoride free") so you may have to brush more often.
b) Use a handkerchief, thin baby wash cloth, or gauze to apply toothpaste and rub it on your teeth.
Use a nubby finger toothbrush for babies to apply toothpaste and rub it on your teeth.
b) Something happened to my face last year that made my left trigeminal nerve lose its shit (the nerve that that lets you feel everything on that side of your face? ow) and it was so sensitive that I could only use these brushes: Curaprox 5460 Ultrasoft Toothbrush. You can also try a 3-sided toothbrush; it has the brushing sensation, but takes 1/3 of the brushing time so you don't have to endure it too long.
I use CloSYS Ultra Sensitive Mouthwash. It has no alcohol and doesn't burn, and the mint flavor is in a little dropper bottle so you can add an amount to your liking (I usually toss it)
I use floss picks. I know they're wasteful, but I also noticed that I didn't use regular floss pre-braces because it took too much effort. I just kept these around and I used them all the time. My dental health was terrible without them, plus I use them as toothpicks long after I'm done with the floss part. Unfortunately, the kind with floss tape (less stabby to the gums) instead of string only come in mint :(
Oranurse 50ml Unflavoured Toothpaste https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085AOSU0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_6YAP1TSZMZ1WDV4DRCT2 It's has no flavor and I've been using it for the last 4 ish months
This stuff is quite good. Literally no flavour which is weird at first but you get used to it! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oranurse-3659273-50ml-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0
I found this :) and this. If that's not what you are looking for there is a toothbrush they use at the dentist, I think oragel, and it's really soft. I personally like it and think it's a lot better than hard bristles.
I found unflavoured toothpaste: http://www.amazon.com/HealthLand-3659273-Oranurse-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0
What can I mix into it to add a flavour? Since I can't just add lemon juice or something...
