I used Macrium Reflect (free software) and a docking station (this one, paid 20 bucks for it) to clone the harddrive to a new SSD, then switched them out. You don't need the docking station, it just makes the whole thing easier.
>Does the hub require any software to be installed, in order to function? If so, then try reinstalling it.
None, it's a basic HDD docking station. This model to be exact.

>Is it the exact same drives that give you problems every time, or does a particular drive work sometimes and other times not? If it is the exact same drives then, using Disk Utility, compare a working drive with a problematic drive. Look at things like partitions, use of encryption, case-sensitivity, container structures, etc., and see if you can find any differences. When doing this, make sure to have "Show all devices" selected in the "View" menu of Disk Utility.
They're the exact same drives. I have seven SG Barracudas, four of them work on all my computers, there are three that won't doesn't get detected on just my 2018 Mini.

>Are there any other drives/devices connected to the Mac Mini? If so, try removing them to see if that makes a difference.
Removed all connected devices except the docking station with the problematic drives connected and the wired keyboard. Sadly, didn't make a difference.
Appreciate you following up.
Some USB issues.
I recently got a USB 3.0 hard drive dock.
Windows 10 recognizes it as a UAS Mass Storage Device but the dock fails to work. Once plugged-in the desktop becomes unresponsive and system log keeps bombarded with Event ID 129/153 from UASPStor. I thought the dock is defective first but it works perfectly under Ubuntu and on other Windows 7 PCs. A clean windows 10 setup reproduces the same result. Tried on all USB ports (front and back) + USB suspend power adjustment and results are consistent.
So the dock does not work under Windows 10 then? Not exactly. If I run Virtualbox on Windows 10 and Windows 10 as a guest, and add a USB 3.0 xHCI filter to pass thru the dock to the guest, the dock works perfectly under Win 10 guest. Is it something to do with the Window 10's UASPStor.sys driver or should I blame the AMD USB driver (Microsoft)?
Sometimes my Steelseries Sensei disconnects with all LED off for no reason. I have to re-plug it to make it work again.
My config: Ryzen 7 2700X
ASRock x470 Taichi
G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-3200C14D-32GVR (2x16GB)
Radeon Vega FE
Samsung 850 Pro 512GB
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Any idea? Thanks in advance?
so you are looking for an HDD dock/enclosure with an external AC adaptor, I use one of these personally: https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Drive-Docking-Station-Supports/dp/B00CE65C4W although I got this locally in new zealand so I'm not sure how much they would be where you are.
Yah exactly. I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Drive-Docking-Station-Supports/dp/B00CE65C4W/
something like this is your best option.
Try use Hdd docking to usb 3.0 like from Orico
https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Drive-Docking-Station-Supports/dp/B00CE65C4W
You'll need a working PC to be able to copy the data.
1) Get an external USB Hard Drive Dock
or
1.5) Get a USB to SATA Adaptor
2) Get Carbon Copy Cloner
It's a 30 day trial, but trust me, it is amazing. This will allow you to clone your entire hard drive a new hard drive, even an SSD, and even if they are different sizes.
3) Clone your old HD to your new one
4) Swap the hard drives.
5) Enjoy your new SSD and an external for whatever you want. All of your data and settings will still be there.
