Smart release fertilizer. It lets out only as needed so doesn’t burn your plants and keeps on giving as needed until harvest.
I’ll probably get some downvotes from some folks. But all these once per week feedings w/overpriced fertilizer just keeps the capitalist wheel spinning. Save a huge amount of money using something you can get from Home Depot and get larger plants with far less fuss. Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor, 8 lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GTDGMHC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4VSHM4KS1HW9X5FX32W8
It's in the greenhouse, and has been moved from shelf 4 (summer) to shelf 2 (winter). I have 30% shade cloth up, and it gets maybe 4 hours of full sun in the winter.
Its a nutrient deficiency, which one exactly I could not say (although it looks like magnesium to me). Best bet is a fertilizer that has a full spectrum of micronutrients, I'd suggest Osmocote Plus as its virtually impossible to overdo it or cause fertilizer burn and it works really well in containers.
A professional horticulturalist in my area recommend that I feed all my outdoor plants Osmocote plus. He did not even sell the product and told me to order it from Amazon so I know he was not just trying to sell me something.
This guy had beautiful and exotic plants all around his home. He said he uses it for everything.

Well when everyone says that dwc gets you 20% gains and you can tell that it does and all your friends had a shit time growing in soil, you generally stay away from it. You can reuse everything from other methods too. If it does smell for a day that's going to get pretty gross if your plant is drinking so much that it needs to be watered every other day. You are right that the fish fertilizer is cheap but so is http://www.amazon.com/Osmocote-Outdoor-Smart-Release-8-Pound-Fertilizer/dp/B00GTDGMHC and it will grow you even more weed per dollar I would think. Home depot charges $8 for the emulsion, I don't know how many drops of that you need to use to get your water to 1000 ppm so I'm still not completely sure what's cheaper but whatever :-)
Is the sand already in the tank? If it is you need to get nutrients into it. Most people use root tabs. A lot of people make root tabs themselves. Plenty of info on that if you search for DIY root tabs.
If the tank is still empty, I just pour some of this (http://www.amazon.com/Osmocote-Outdoor-Smart-Release-8-Pound-Fertilizer/dp/B00GTDGMHC) the bottom then cover it with the sand. It is the same fertilizer everyone uses for DIY root tabs. Eventually you will need to make some root tabs and add them as the original fertilizer runs out.
these plants have been in the tank for ages. at least a month. The substrate is about 2-3" thick. Ozmocote plus: NPK Analysis: 15-9-12. Flourish complete should get the rest of the other nutrients, right? the water is pretty hard probably 7.5-8pH, i don't have an exact measurement on that though.
You mean this? https://www.amazon.ca/Scotts-Company-Osmocote-274850-Smart-Release/dp/B00GTDGMHC
Then no that's not safe for snails, please don't use it.
Soil for snails should be additive and fertilizer free. This product is advertised as plant food, which means it definitely has additives and likely fertilizers too.
