The Band of Brothers wasn’t even the Band of Brothers. I joined the Army and became a paratrooper because that’s what I wanted. But BoB is a book written 50-years after the events through a haze of nostalgia and sold as hero worship of ‘The Greatest Generation’. One of the best books on the Afghanistan War I’ve ever read actually takes a shot at BoB as it’s inaccurate representation of the military in general and combat infantry in specific.
