Many of use older reader have bought the original jp versions of the light novel as those help the other more. Additionally, there are other readers who don't read the English translations.
I original found overlord translated into german and from there I wanted to read more, but I was waiting for translations and I came across Skythewood translations. A year later the anime released. Before the official release of the english version the only way to support the author was to buy the JP version. Since I already had so many of those I kept buying them as they support the author far more than a translated version.
What I have bought:
There have been more translators than just skythewood and Nigel, but Nigel has excellent translations and puts an amazing effort into recreating the scenes without losing the feeling behind them.
Overlord has been officially translating in other languages as well. Keep that in mind that not all reddit users will buy the english version, but instead their own native language while reading the english fan translations until they have an official native translation.
German Details (digital only). If someone knows about physical copies let me know. I had to used my german amazon account, but i would guess all of EU in included.
There are many others, but this is just an example.
I would recommend doing another poll which asks:
> how many volumes you have paid for from an official source?
